SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 25, 2023 6:25 am

Good morning,

I was awake EARLY this morning and finally, after tossing/turning/reading for a while, I got up a bit before 4am. This could be a very long day. We got a lot of yard work done yesterday. Bill helped which, other than carting my slash out to the slash pile in the woods, doesn't usually happen. I was so grateful. Seems I'm no longer 35 years old - the age I was when I bought this place. Nowadays, at 72, I get twice as tired doing half as much! Maybe he noticed and decided to help. Anyway, today will be another yard day - but the last, and easiest one! And I'll be done until the last round in October just before we go south when I put the yard to bed for the winter.

I also treated myself to an hour in the sewing room. I cut out three blocks for Book Nook. Then went to the deck for some relaxing and some cross-stitching. Soon I might reach the halfway point on Amara's Chrismtas stocking! I still don't think I'll 'git 'er dun' in time for this Christmas but I'm making a strong effort.

TINA - haha! Good morning to you! You could always start SC yourself. I don't own it. Seems I'm just here earlier than everyone else! I hope your new phone company works better for you. And a new Italian place? Yumm! Our favorite!

BECCA - sorry you had to return the pants you bought. But at least you did get one good pair, right? Even if you have to hem them? At 4'11" I have to hem EVERYTHING. We go to a Grocery Outlet sometimes. They have some excellent deals. I've never seen half-loaves of bread, though. Don't you wonder what happened to the other half? Another birthday party? You have a lot of birthdays in your family, and that's even with doubling up so many folks! What a fun family you have!

LORI - I bet your toenails are pretty! If you were to add some lime green, you'd be sporting Seahawk colors! Happy Birthday to your friend - no better way to celebrate than an Italian restaurant! I like working in a veggie garden, too, though we no longer have one. But in this yard, I'm constantly fighting back the woods. Sometimes it even takes a chainsaw. In much of the yard, I've just let the woods have it. It's HARD work, not simple weeding. But I love our woods and 150' trees, so no real complaints. But I do feel a hot bath with Epson salts might be a great way to spend part of this afternoon.

CAROL - sorry your Bernie is in the hospital. When my Chip was in last April, I also had to wait for a part - I think for the automatic thread cutter - and it took 2-1/2 weeks for that part to come in - on top of the 2 weeks he was already there waiting for his turn on the tech's workbench! But this time not so bad. I got a call yesterday that Chip is ready to come home from his spa treatment with no repairs necessary. We just have to find a break in the action around here and go get him. We try to combine all our Tacoma errands and make one trip, but I don't think we have anything else to do in Tacoma right now, so this may be a quick trip into town - maybe tomorrow.

Tonite's supper will be something on the grill - a steak, a chop, a burger. Bill can choose. But he's unavailable at the moment, meaning still sleeping. The rest of our meal will depend on what he chooses, but salad will be part of it, as usual.

Have you decided yet?

Becca - Happy Anniversary! Nice that your daughter remembers and called you today. You have many happy memories of your wedding day to share with her.

Maryz - Did doing the yard work cause the sleepless night? I think you might just finish Amara's stocking this year. You have quite a bit of time still. Are you able to work on it while riding in the truck?

Today is my usual bed changing, bathroom cleaning and laundry. I decided to change the quilt on the bed so I also need to wash the one that came off of it before I put it away.

Dinner tonight may be pizza, or it may be Bean and Barley Soup. We will decide later. DH has informed me there are two baseball games to watch on Apple plus this evening. The Dodges play Boston and then Kansas City will be in Seattle. Sorry Mary DH routs for Kansas City.

Hi all 😊
Mary, you've been really cleaning up your yard, I bet it's beautiful. I bet you were too tired to sleep. I think you'll get that stocking finished in time.
Becca, they sure keep your social calendar full with all those birthday, it's so awesome!! Sounds like a good deal on the sweater, yay you 😊
Carol, I just changed out our bed quilt last month, I'm hoping I'll need a warmer one soon🤞
Lori, your toes sound pretty, I haven't painted mine in awhile..... Jazmyne did mine about 2 years ago LOL some of my skin got it too but soaking them had that off quick 🤭
We cleaned 25lbs of fresh roasted green chile this morning so now I have 20 bags of fresh green chile in the freezer. I only slept a few hours last night, don't know what's up with that lately because I didn't go to bed early last night. I did take a nap after lunch though. I have a catch in shoulder and have no idea why, it started hurting after I was up a couple hours and before we did the chile.
Supper tonight will be chile rellenos and beans.
Tina
