SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 14
Good morning,
We're going to be hot today - for here, anyway. About 90*. I've got windows open and the overhead fan going to bring in and disperse the cool morning air, then I'll close everything up when temps equalize. It's going to be hot for the next 3 days. Since few homes in PNW have A/C, we devise other ways to 'weather' heat waves. I will sit in front of a fan, wearing a wet tank top!
Yesterday I picked more berries. My count now is 3+ gallons. That equates to 3 batches jam, 7 freezer pkgs, and 1 crisp. I think I'm done. Unless I can't resist one more picking. But my neighbor will be home from vacation on Wed and I think she wants to pick more, so she can have them! I didn't get my ughlies done yesterday. But I did wash all my new fabrics. Today's job is to figure out where to put them! lol! No sewing has happened this past week. Just trying to catch up on other things I've let lapse around here. We're leaving at 3pm for dinner with friends. They are picking us up and we're leaving early because they have a few errands they want to run as long as we're going to Tacoma. That's OK with us. We've got nothing much else to do this afternoon. Yesterday I saw $5.59 for diesel, $5.29 for gas at a 76 station. They say we are the highest in the nation. Such a distinction! So, when we go to Tacoma, we make an effort to consolidate all Tacoma business in one trip if possible. Add $5 bridge toll to $10 worth of gas and it gets expensive just to drive into T-town.
LORI - I'm glad Wrigley has someone to walk too. You know how I worry about the fur-folks! We saw a video on On Patrol, Live last night. A burglar came into a garage that was left open. A golden came out of the house and was so happy to see a 'friend'! He ran to get some lovin' in so the burglar parked the bike, loved up the dog, even got on the floor with him. They rassled, exchanged kisses and hugs and I lov you's, and with a final scritch the burglar said good bye and left with a wave to the dog - and a bike. The dog stood watching him go, tail wagging, but looking sad that his new friend was gone. Gotta love goldens!! Are you still liking your bargello? I came across photos of the one I did when I was doing my picture sorting this past week. That picture and hearing you talk is making me want to tackle another one - some day. I have a book of several patterns, though none like the one you are doing.
BECCA - we're happy to have you at the table no matter what time you slide into your chair! That is quite a name for your new baby. He's going to be spending his life spelling it for folks!
TINA - your whole first paragraph yesterday was Greek to me. I simply don't do electronic-speak. Even if I did, I know my hubby. That's HIS arena and no one enters HIS arena because - well - it's HIS arena! It would just cause friction. My photos stay on my phone until I finally get around to deleting about 2/3 of them, and then he takes it from there - uploads to Costco and in a week pictures come back to us! And if I'm really on the ball, I file them away into photo boxes within the year! That's our Modus Operandi. Bill will make salads and he does a good job. But only if I request him to do it. Usually, I make them early afternoon while I still have a bit of energy, and put them into the fridge until suppertime which crisps them up.
We have a little meatloaf left. I'm considering making tacos from it but I might punt that to tomorrow and grill burgers instead. Bill will let me know later in the day which he prefers. Leftover meatloaf also makes a great spaghetti sauce, so he has options.
What are your options for tonite?

Mary, I saw that video. That's what Wrigley would do too. Jack would bark and get mean though. The reason you haven't ever seen this pattern of Bargello, is because Jeff Warner designed it.
He said he hasn't seen anything like it either. He's made several. It's actually quite easy once you get the gist of it. I don't know about putting the triangles together though. We shall see. I should have the parts done today.
Jack took me for my walk. School is back in, so we saw lots of adults and children heading into the elementary school. I got my dad's shopping done and put away. Then dropped him off for a haircut and shave. He apparently doesn't shave anymore. I don't know what that's all about. I'll work on the Bargello today. Would like to get the thing done soon.
My granddaughter got back to Utah yesterday. They were evacuated to Kuai, so they spent a few days there waiting for a flight home. They'll have a story to tell for the rest of their lives.
Don't know what dinner will be.
Have a lovely day.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 14
Good morning from a kind of dreary, slightly rainy, warm, SW Pa...Not an outside kind of day so have no excuse not to get the inside uglies done..(except being lazy)....It's been a heck of a couple of days and I'm not sure what all happened, lol.....Did go with my sister on Sat. and we played cards until the wee hours, yesterday was Kevin's birthday and he golfed with his 2 boys and another friend...He said, he doesn't know when he's had so much fun and laughed so hard...He said, the boys are very entertaining...I had great news this morning, Trisha, Nick's wife is finally flying to Florida on Wednesday...It seemed to take forever for those in charge to finish her paperwork...I kept telling her, she would give me the best ever birthday present and she is! Kathy did a 1st on Saturday...She married Tim's grandson and his girlfriend...She's not married any family before and was excited...They had their wedding at the river and was absolutely gorgeous...The groom is also in the AF and leaves on Thursday for 3 years in Alaska, his new wife will join him in a couple of weeks.....
Going to be another crazy week, I'm waiting for a call from a young fellow who will be cleaning my gutters, my sister and I both have allergy doctor appointments tomorrow, then lunch and depending on how she feels, who knows whatever, Wed. night JoAnn and the camp buddies are planning dinner, Thursday is bingo, Friday, I'm meeting my lunch buddies at a new place...By Saturday, I'm not leaving the house (well, unless I get a good offer)......
Mary, the other day, you mentioned seeing my double, lol....Oh how I wish that had been me...I keep saying one of these days....Years ago, I went to work and the doctor said, he had seen me the night before but was surprised it wasn't Jim that I was with...So, there are a couple doubles out there, you just never know! Oh my, all those berries are going to taste so good this winter....I used to can a lot but any more, it's just the relish....
Becca, sounds like you had a good weekend....And that is quite a "handle" for the new baby, but I love it! And your dinner sounds very good....My sister told me she visited a friend at a personal care home and the lunch they brought her was absolutely gorgeous and my sister was almost ready to check in....
I'm thinking for my dinner, might be that elusive burger on the grille...I did make the potato salad yesterday, then too full to make the burger...Or might make a little meatloaf and a baked potato (Mary made me hungry).....
Gotta run, gutter guy just pulled in.....You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating............
We had a tragedy not too far from me...2 houses exploded, many others damaged and at least 5 people, including a father and son, have been lost....So along with prayers for those in Hawaii, please include these also....

It's coming along. I need to buy some vinyl to make a template. There's 8 parts I need to put together.

Late to the table tonight. We did baked chicken, asparagus and a few low sodium tortilla chips with homemade Pico de gallo.
Mary - my kids use Shutterfly all the time. Daniel makes Michael a calendar each year with his favorite railroad, Sacramento Northern. Daniel scrounges pictures from all over the internet. He also makes me a calendar of Karlie pictures. At our friend's funeral awhile ago, they had out of display all the family photos from trips etc, for each year, that were done in a Shutterfly photo book. I thought what a great idea! My kids watch for sales at the website to save money. Crenda does this too. The site is really easy to use and you can add journal entries as to who, what or where. Biting off a year at a time is manageable. You might enjoy doing that - even putting together a grandma brag book of Kumquat!
Irish - it took me awhile to figure out the word camp - here a camp is where you go with a trailer or tent for a short time - your camp must be a full blown cabin! I just can't see you and Jo Ann sleeping in a tent!

Karlie stopped by to tell me of her first day at school. She loved it. She's now in second grade. Also is now missing her two front teeth. Gracie and Lila start next week. Daniel has a electrical conduit pipe that he needs to bury, before the landscaper starts. I reminded him of that.
Well, it's late and my Giants postponed their annual June swoon to now and we're losing again,
Hugs,
Jana
Lori - that is a WOW quilt! It it stunning!
