SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, August 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Aug 10, 2023 6:57 am

Good morning,

I can't believe August is already 1/3 over! You can definitely feel here that we're on the back end of summer, even though we're going into a heat next week. Time to break out the fall fabrics!

We ended up doing errands again yesterday. Glasses repair at Costco, Rx at Target, etc. Then I cleaned out my sewing room closet. Not sure why I was saving some of the things I saved - they weren't even quilty related! I also started going through my box of quilting pictures. Not sure why I had duplicates of almost all of them. I'm still sorting and dumping the "dups". And plan to label them when I'm done sorting and organizing.

I was going to wash sheets today and dry them out on the lines, but Bill already made the bed, bless him, and I'm not about to disrupt a good bed-making. So that will go on tomorrow's agenda. Today will be blackberry picking since I didn't get to it yesterday. Maybe jam making, or maybe berry freezing or crisp-making. Depends on how many berries I get. And I want to find a recipe for sweet red hamburger relish. I can't find it in the stores anyplace anymore. Not for last few years. If I find a good recipe, I'm going to make a lot and can it!

TINA - the Sew'n'Vac has my foot pedal (I put my address stickers on every part of my machines, thankfully). The gal took it out of the carrying case, laid it on the floor when she took out my machine, and it never got put back into the case. The case came home with us. They are holding it for me and we'll get it our next trip into Tacoma. Since both of my machines are Bernie's my foot pedals are interchangable so I can still use my back-up machine. You want Frankie to repaint your Oliver? Bill restored my dad's 1948 Farmall A. It's a big expensive and lengthy undertaking. Be careful what you ask for! Glad you got some rain!! We got a bit of drizzle, but that's it.

BECCA - you really got a lot done yesterday - all before 7am! I get up early but all I get done before 7am is the QIAD forum and drink a cup of coffee. How was supper last night? I was going through my phone book last night and realized that my DFIL's best man at his wedding (in 1950) was a man with the same first and last name as your Alex! I guess it's not an uncommon name.

LORI - I love, LOVE the bargello you are doing! From the pattern to the colors to everything about it! What is the name of the pattern? I know you told us, but it didn't mean a lot to me then so I didn't use any brain cells to remember it. It will be a showstopper! Bet you are glad you did your pre-homework! Chip's last spa treatment was in April (made me look!). And they kept him an extra 2-1/2 weeks waiting for a part so he didn't come home until mid-May. I carry a maintainence agreement on both my machines and I can get them cleaned and serviced free of charge as often as I want. And I want about 3 time a year. Plus he was acting funny - breaking needles and jamming thread.

I think we're going to have spaghetti tonite - my HOH has spoken his wishes. I was going to have it a few days ago but it got punted that night, as JANA is wont to say.

What's your plan?

Good early afternoon from slightly overcast and only in the high 70s, which feels odd, lol....It's been a strange couple of days, busy but nothing to show for it.....Card club on Tuesday and then my cardiologist appointment and kind of got a good report...BP was a little elevated and of course, the AFib is still there and if it doesn't bother me, we're not doing anything, thank goodness...I just told him, I don't think about it, take my meds and move on....
Mary, you had asked about my sister's surgery, hip replacement this time...Not too many other things are left to be replaced on her...Of course, now, it's finding the right time, but we want to travel so she needs to "hop" to it.....And you are looking for a good relish recipe...Well, I have 1 but the only red in it is from red peppers and is made with green tomatoes....A friend gave it to me, years ago but called it BBQ sauce (which it isn't) but the family loves it...My sister will hide it when I give her a jar....And our Chris had made a salsa that is fantastic and can be made as hot as you want.....I can send them or post on recipes.....

Becca, you certainly are a busy person and I agree you get more done early than I do all day, lol......

Tina, glad you got a little rain...And as Mary said, better watch what you wish for...My oldest thinks he needs to restore all the old tractors, trucks anything he can get his hands on and some have been very expensive and there are some still waiting.....

Lori, I would love to tackle a quilt like that and even have a pattern...But, every time I think maybe, I usually talk myself out of it...But, as Mary said, it will be a treasure....

Well, gotta run....Today is little Emma's 4th birthday and she's as Kevin's so, I'm going over with Snowballs and candles....The real party is on Saturday....So hard to believe, it's been 4 years since our Cindy, her Grandma, passed away....Emma was all Cindy talked about and sadly never got to hold her but I'm sure, she's watching down on her every day...Emma will always have a guardian angel......

Hopefully, Kevin will give me a couple tomatoes and that might entice me to fire up the grille and make a burger......

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating.................

Good afternoon!

Well, we are punting quite a bit of this strict diet to the sidelines for a time. Still doing the low sodium, but adding back in some good fats. We have to get some fat back on Michael. So I get to cook, a bit! Need to add back protein too!

Dinner tonight is tacos.

All the groceries are put away, so it's now play time in the Batt Cave!

See ya tomorrow!

Hugs,
Jana

Irish, I wouldn't have tried to do this quilt on my own. The teacher was very helpful with great tips. It's not that hard yet. I'm sure when I put it together it will be a challenge.

Tina, I found a pattern by accident. I bought a pattern from Etsy last year and completely forgot about it.
lol I was looking in my download file and found it. It's a runner or wall hanging of witches hats. I printed it off and will probably make it before October.

Mary, I have the service package on my Bernina as well. I'll be taking it in soon for a check up. The pattern is Kaleidoscope Bargello by Jeff Warner. We were his second class. He taught the 1st one a couple weeks ago at another local guild.

Jana, glad they loosened the reins on the foods he can have. Have fun cooking. Tacos sound yummy.

I did grocery shopping, made meatballs and a did few other things around the house today. We are heading out to the OC fair tonight. So dinner will be fair food.

Have a lovely evening.
