SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 30

Good morning,

We have having cool weather - 64 and cloudy - this week. But next week, we'll be in Yakima where it's going to be in the 90's. UGH! I swelter in 80's. So I'm soaking up all the cool that I can for now.

Yesterday Al & Tina went to Seattle to visit their son and will be back late today. So while they were gone Bill cleaned and resealed our granite countertops. I mopped and did laundry. I made just one 6" OWL block and then started playing with June lotto blocks. I spent more time choosing fabrics from my small tote of 2-1/2" strips and the frogging all I sewed wrong than I did actually making the blocks. This morning, I"ll finish some more and get them ready to mail. Then maybe two more 6" OWL blocks before I get out the vacuum and dust rag.

TINA - you have a lot of levels of driver licensing in your state. Here - you can get a permit and take driver's ed at 15-1/2 yrs old but you can't take the drivers test until age 16. If you don't take drivers ed, then you can't get a license until you are 18. But watching On Patrol Live, it looks like it doesn't matter much - no one they stop has a license of any kind anyway! I, too, pray all the droughts are over. What did you sew yesterday?

LORI - You are too funny! Telling Jaz to put down a tarp if she puts bodies in her trunk! But, it's true. You've got to be practical in these matters. No, the 6" OWL blocks aren't hard at all. They work up quickly. And a nice break from doing the big blocks. They are mostly pieced rather than applique. I've done Jan through May, with 2 more 6" May blocks to do today. I'm never in the mood to do bindings. Even doing them in an hour by machine, they are just a chore I have to do to get a project done and off my work table so I can get to the next thing - which is always way more fun. I'm listening to an audio story by Krista Davis and the golden in the story is named Gingersnap. I always think of you and Wrigley when I see golden retrievers.

BECCA - time is growing short for your move! It's going to be a busy week for you and then another busy few weeks getting settled. I pray you love your new place.

JANA - you are making great progress on sorting and rearranging your stash! I think you should take the fabric that came from Sarah that you don't want and ding dong ditch it on her doorstep. Sounds like the kids have The Big Move all planned out. Is Karlie excited?

CAROL - no, I didn't get very much of my list accomplished yesterday. And probably won't make a lot of progress today either. But that's OK. I have no deadlines on anything right now. Just enjoying the process. Sounds like we've been having similar weather the last few days - 60's and cloudy! But warmer weather is on its way!

Last night I made a casserole of the leftovers from our ham dinner the night before. It was delish! I think Bill and I will finish that off for lunch today because there are only 2 servings left. I don't know what time Al & Tina will be home from Seattle, so I'm just planning poached eggs for supper topped with some chili con queso from a jar. That way, if they show up - fine. If they eat earlier with their son - fine. And they know that's the plan so there's no pressure on them to get home for a planned meal.

We're going to be 90° today! I watered early.
Mary, yep we try to make sure our youth are well trained before they are let go on their own.... I'm not sure anything can really settle youth drivers down to think logically though.
Lori, LOL I'll make sure I tell her that, too funny.
Becca, wow you're going to have a busy and hopefully fun week!
Jana, in 3 weeks you may have your bat cave all too yourself again, woohoo!
Carol, could you send me some of those cool temps please?
I didn't get sewing time yesterday, my leg was not happy with me, I even used an ice pack and ibuprofen. I'm going in there now though.
Going to PO to mail May lotto blocks today and maybe going to Cruces with Holly and the kids, I'm just waiting to see what she decided. We're supposed to be taking Jazmyne to get new glasses.
Supper might be in Cruces if not I have pork chops in the fridge.

Mary, I used to like bindings. Lately I just don't want to spend the time hand sewing them down. I do machine bindings, but it's a pain too. You would love Wrigley. He makes friends with everyone.
He's a big old lover.

Tina, hope your leg pain subsides. Have fun on your travels if you get to go.

Carol, what have you been up to lately?

Becca, it's getting close to moving day. Are you happy to get your own place, or will you miss the family?

I finished up one of the binding yesterday, and started a bit on the other. I also got 60 blocks squared up for the quilt I'm making. I start putting it together today. First I need to get cleaned up so we can go to Costco.

Dinner will be teriyaki chicken and rice. I didn't make it last night, so we'll try for tonight.

Good afternoon !

The inspection went very well, only a minor issue or two to be fixed - good with that! So now all they need is the money! That is going good too.

Dinner - I had thought of tacos, but the kids grabbed Taco Bell while they were out, so it will be sweet and sour pork over rice.

i am here in the Batt Cave and not really wanting to do more re-folding of fabric and pitching of the too small useful pieces. I have three baskets that I am dreading to do - a red and two Christmas - they are over their boundaries - I love both red and Christmas and that always seems to be in my quilts! I also have two baskets of novelty prints, that may get mostly donated, since my littles are growing up to be bigs! We have gotten past all the toy cars, bears, and ballerinas. They want big grown up quilts.

So that's about our day here - beautiful outside and not a cloud or a rumble in the mountains behind me! And it's almost 2 pm! LOL!

Maryz - I love that you have a rose bush of your parents. My Mother gave me a few of her Red Amarilys bulbs in about 1975. I had them in pots until we moved to this house. They have multiplied when in the pots and in fact some were stolen, but I still have them and they make me smile every Spring when they bloom. I have them by the front porch as well as in the backyard. I know just how you feel about your parent's rose bush!

Lori - I have been mostly working on an Intra-Guild project. I need to quilt two quilts including layering them. I made the back for one and need to make the back for the other. I also have been reading Amanda Flower's cozy mysteries set in an Amish Candy Shop.

Tina - I would like some of the warmer weather and wish I could send some of these clouds to you. Sorry your leg is bothering you.

Jana - It gets hard to sort fabric after a while. I get stuck too. Get rid of what you have already sorted and sew something else. It will make you feel better. When do your GC get finished with school?

Becca - It sounds like you really enjoyed your weekend visit. You must be going to see the place and have a check-up by the nurse. Moving day will be here soon. Denise is going to miss you.

Dinner was Chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh steamed broccoli, and salad.

I went to a Cardiologist today. My primary care doctor thinks my blood pressure is a little high and he sent me to her. She is encouraging me to go on a Mediterranean diet. I bought a book by Cooking Light on the subject today and they give the benefits, staples list and some recipes. Have any of you looked into it? I will slowly adjust I think. As long as Pizza is an option DH is on board. LOL
