Maryq, the barefoot quilter, I love your flower. I made my blue flower without a pattern. Sort of figured it out from the picture. I couldn't figure out how to do a stem like yours. I did the triangles on each side of the stem but everytime I squared it up it came out funky. Yours turned out perfectly.

Chriss I think El has a pattern in one of her books that tells you how to do that stem. There might even be video here. I went to print the rose pattern last night, 14 pages! I will just do it from my computer screen. Way too much ink.

Was just looking at youtube. There are tutorials on there for flower blocks too.

Val, I should have looked at an El book for that stem, or even on you tube which is where you can find out how to do everything. duh.

I have another flower in the works, I've sort of had to figure out how to put it together. I really like it

El also has a book of flower applique's called Magic Vine, I think. Plus Grandmother's Garden. Those are her two floral books. In case anyone is still thinking . .

I found a pattern I wanted to try, enlarged it to 12-1/2" block, pulled fabrics, and was getting ready to cut to make a sample block and realized I don't have my machine! It's still at the Bernie Spa! And it's not worth asking Bill to haul my Back-up Bernie out of the trailer, through the garage and house, up the stairs, down the hall, and set it up just so I can sew for a couple days. Then he'd have to reverse the whole process because that machine lives in the trailer. He's not a young man any more. I try not to over-use him! So my flowers are going to have to wait at least another week.

Maryz, another great place to look is Pinterest. or, if you like applique, google color book pages or pencil drawings.

I found a couple of blocks that I had to figure out because there was no pattern available that I could find. One I have already posted and the other I will be putting together (fingers crossed) today.

Valerie and Maryz, I have extra machines, come here, use one of them, we could have a play date.
