SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:46 am

Good morning,

We are 30* this morning but going to a balmy 47* by afternoon. We had 1/2 inch of snow yesterday but it's all gone now. So pretty! I got my snow fix!

Yesterday was a nice day for us. Bill has a major project going on in the trailer - converting it from 30 amp to 50 amp so we can add a second AC if necessary when we go back to Texas. Aut has asked us to come back this fall earlier than usual (she wants a free babysitter  ) and I know it's still hot and I don't do heat at all. And neither do our fur babies. My project was, of course, in my sewing room. I have my last North Stars block 2/3 finished. I'll do that this morning and then look around for sashing fabric to put all these blocks together.

We had a nice dinner out last night at a place called McMenamins. This chain takes very old buildings and converts them. In OR and WA. This one is the old Elks Temple in downtown Tacoma - more than 100 years old. It's a hotel, restaurant, and has four different bars. The decor is elegantly restored. I counted 28 huge, and all different chandeliers in the restaurant, which was kind of Victorian pub style. We explored the building after dinner and found another couple celebrating their 32nd anniversary so chatted with them a bit. On the way home, we slowly toured some of Tacoma's downtown and marveled at all the changes that have taken place, new buildings, restored old buildings, Bill's old office building. A very nice evening. To top off our anniversary I made Bill his favorite apple pie and he sent me a bouquet of red carnations, my favorite florist flower.

BECCA - I'm glad you had a nice luncheon and got to meet new friends. Especially friends who give you fabric! Your family is probably right in suggesting you keep your car until you are settled into your new life. You may find you want more freedom than the shuttle can give you and your family's schedule can provide. There's always time to change your mind.

CAROL - I did enjoy the John Travolta commercial. I really like him. But the Binky dad still was my fave. Having suffered through the Binky years and the trauma of forgetting or, horror! losing Binky, I could identify! I was almost relieved when our third baby, Autumn, was a thumb sucker instead of a binky baby. We hardly ever lost her thumb! lol! We haven't had any 60* weather yet, but close. And no open windows here! I am so impatient to get our deck set up for summer living but know it's way too early yet.

LORI - your modern quilt is amazing!!! I love it! The special treatment you gave the borders is incredible. And just in case you need to know, my block was the one with the 5 overlapping circles. My own design. :D

JANA - we're happy to have you at the table no matter what time you slide into your chair!

VELDA - sorry your sandwiches weren't what you thought you were getting. You must not like mushrooms. We do, but if I didn't I sure wouldn't want them in my food, especially after being assured they wouldn't be! Our Costco sells meat sliced micro thin that makes great Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. The problem is it's Costco and there's enough in the package to serve 3 dozen people! We can only use so much, even if we freeze most of it in small amounts. We only buy it when we're expecting a crowd. I'm sure your pastor was very happy to receive a sweet surprise!

An interesting side story about mushrooms: Our friend, Betsy, (who passed away 2 days before Christmas) loved mushrooms. But she had double lung transplant 10 years ago and after that found she was suddenly allergic to one variety of mushrooms.

I will ask Bill when he gets home from his "Y" exercise class his preferences. But I'm thinking either hamburgers tonite or homemade split pea soup made with turkey kielbasa instead of ham. But those are the choices I'm going to give him.

What are your choices tonite?

Good Morning,

Maryz - Glad to hear you had such a great anniversary dinner.

Only two more days until we set up the quilt show. I have four quilts hanging and three quilts in a bag ready to go to the show. My room will seem huge when they are gone for at least a few days. I am really looking forward to the show. I will take pictures and post them when they are hanging.

Today is our day to celebrate Valentine's Day with dinner at a restaurant. DH made reservations at an Italian place, so I know we are having Italian. I will be sewing as much as I can today. I have lots cut and ready to sew.

Carol

I was here earlier and all set to type my post. I got interrupted and then didn't get back until now. Leaving soon to Wednesday night dance. Tonight is our last one until after Easter. Ash Wednesday is next Wednesday ( six weeks of Lent). Our church has mid-week services and we will give up the dances and attend church.
So tonight is eating out, then tomorrow night will be our leftover taco salad.
Today I went to our local meat market for meats. I don't know why I never got started before this. Everyone has good things to say about their fresh meats. I am hoping we will love it too. Walmart meats are always tough and I never can get just two servings in a package. I would have to come home and repackage my selections. At this market I ask for single serving packages.
I will report what we think as the days go by.
Prices were competitive too. A little bit more, but better quality will make it worth it.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Good afternoon!

Waiting at the pickup spot for Gracie. Her school day is almost done. Then down to activity days at her Ward. Karlie is going with her. Should be fun for both of them.

Dinner - spaghetti is a huge possibility. Easy for our busy Wednesdays.

Worked on my sawtooth stars. Have about a quarter of them done. Worked out a area for sewing and keeping my project contained upstairs. I'm using the dining table, which gets used every night. But a couple of boxes and two extra chairs, it's all contained and easy to get out tomorrow.

School bell just rang, off I go,
Hugs,
Jana
