SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 08, 2023 4:43 am

Good morning,

My sis is gone and they are a quarter of the way home already. We had a really nice visit with the kids, celebrated Autumn's birthday a few days early, and they shared some tentative plans with us and mentioned they would like us to come back next Oct/Nov and maybe help out with babysitting, which we would be happy to do. We'll see what happens. I think we'll get to see them one more time before we leave Wed morning.

Today is dog washing day. Some of us are happy about it. Others, not so much. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ› We will also wash his rugs (he has three and uses them all, scraping them up into wads to sleep on). I hope to get in a bit of sewing today, too, but it's last on my list. Plus there are some important football games on today, Seahawks among them, though TV stations are never anxious to air Seattle games down here in TX.

CAROL - you are coming down the finish line with that quilt!

TINA - Glad your dad had such a nice birthday. A bummer about so many restaurants closing. quilt shops, too, for that matter. Your population is about 15,000 and 7 eateries doesn't seem like a lot for that many residents.

Tonite we're going to have bean burritoes and salad. I'm trying to plan our last 3 suppers, matching the weather with the contents of the freezer, so today, being cooler, we'll use the indoor oven. The next few days will be a lot warmer so we'll grill the last of our chicken tomorrow.

Have you got your supper planned yet?

Hi Maryz. The dog wash sounds pretty neat. Nice to do bathing yourself. Nicer for the fur baby to have your own loving hands touching him.
I remember how we had to plan meals at the end our our visit. Needed easy meals for the road trip, but mostly tried to use down freezer, frig, and cupboards.
I know I haven't been here lately, but will try to do better this year.
I cooked pork chops last night and we have a second meal leftover. After church I plan to fix a breakfast brunch. Had found some cooked sausages in my freezer, better get them served and still had two hash brown patties to cook also in freezer. Can't let them stick around too long, or they get freezer burn.
Other than that, I will continue my stitching school bags for church project.
Have a great day!
HUGS, ๐Ÿ’• Vel

Good afternoon from a sunny but chilly SW. Pa...Yep, it's me! It's been a rough few months but I think, at last, I'm on my way back....The heart still isn't beating the way Doc likes so I might need another zapping or the next procedure but, we'll wait and see......
Hasn't been much happening in my neck of the woods....So far, my sister has been my driver but I did get in my car and drove around the corner to the mail box, and made it back home, lol......
Mary has been keeping me up to date with all that has been going on and you gals have been busy.....And sad to hear about the recent passings but also happy with the good news....Our new baby, Kevin's new grand daughter is really thriving, getting those chubby legs....He sure lights up when he talks about his grand daughters and often will say, "If only Cindy could be here".....But we know she's watching those little ones from above......
And so excited about Mary's baby girl, who is on the way....And to be asked to baby sit, we know, she'll be on cloud nine.....
Kathy has been here a couple of times...I think she comes to see if I'm eating, lol....She'll be coming back soon and will be happy to see I've gained a couple pounds....
I'm trying to get back to sewing and cross stitching but the Lyme's has messed up my eyes and I need to have another exam and probably whole new RX...Just so much fun, I can hardly contain myself.......
Thank you all for the prayers and good wishes, I certainly do appreciate it.....
But along with Vel, I'll try to be back, often.......
As for my dinner, Kathy got me some chicken pot pies, that are absolutely delicious, so might pop one in the oven....She also stocked my freezer with home made cookies, just in case that sweet tooth hits.......

You all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating....................

Good Afternoon,

Irish - It is so good to see you! A nice Sunday surprise! Glad you are feeling better. Hope all is well soon.

Maryz - A clean dog in a clean "house" and clean rugs! You are really going to town. Hope all is done and you have had time to sew. Nice you have one more visit with A & A.

Vel - It is nice to see you too! Pork Chops sound like a good Sunday super.

Dinner for us tonight will be ham and left-over baked potato.

I have finished quilting 21/28 border blocks then the outside setting triangles. I feel like it is taking me a long time to quilt this quilt. I should be sewing binding on by Wednesday maybe Tuesday.

DH and I just came in from a walk. The temperature at 11:00 AM was 68* and is now 61*. We are expecting rain Monday, so maybe tonight it will begin.

Mary, I bet you have a very nice smelling Scottie now. We just had a place open up that has dog washing stations. It's $10 each or 5 washes for $40. I haven't tried it yet, but the boys do need a bath and it's supposed to rain all week.

Irish, so good to see you post again. Glad you are getting back to normal

Carol, you're almost done. Will this quilt be in your guilds show?

Hi Velda. Good to see you post too.

I worked on my "Happy Owl-O-Ween" quilt today. Got the backgrounds ready for the owls. Need to stitch it down. Then I'll be ready for the workshop on Wednesday. Seems like this prep should have been in the workshop rather than at home. I've noticed that quilt teachers aren't what they used to be. Some are still good, but other are just trying to make easy money and not provide a good lesson.

We had BBQ chicken, potatoes with onions, and zucchini.

Sleep well.

I just got a call saying the workshop is canceled for now. The teacher had to cancel due to a family issue. Hopefully will be able to reschedule soon.

Lori - Yes, my quilt will be in our Guild Show in February. I finished all of the green blocks and have only a little thread left. Luckily the remaining quilting will be done in white thread, and I have plenty!
