My daughter, autumn, loves the Nutcracker suite. She took me to see it in Austin a few years ago and this year is taking the 16-year-old girl she mentors. She asked me if I could make two identical quilts for her and for Sammy. She chose the fabric, ordered it, and had it delivered to me. She left the block choice up to me but said she wanted something traditional. When I saw the stack of 30 fat quarters and 12 yards of focus fabric, log cabin blocks seemed the logical choice to me. But autumn chose the layout. Each quilt measures 60 in.²
