SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 31

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 31, 2022 5:53 am

Good morning,

I can't believe we're already to the end of May. Seems we were all just cheering on March! Summer solstice is now only 3 weeks away.

We're leaving this morning so I have things to do. Pack last of fridge, empty dishwasher, water plants, etc. We won't have internet tonite for sure - we'll be dry camping along the river in the Yakima Canyon. A very pretty place - where we were camped with my brothers, Jim & Albert, when 911 happened - the last day of a 2-month Alaska trip. No cell service in the canyon so we didn't know for several hours. Tomorrow we'll be on to our friends near LaGrande, OR for 3 nights (close to Pendleton - I'm sure you've all heard of Pendleton Wool). We should have internet there because Bill takes his own gear to hook to theirs. I don't know how he does it, but his career was IT so he works his magic almost everywhere - just not in the Yakima Canyon. :D

JANA - Seems like your house has been Kid Grand Central lately. Joy! But you may have to send your sewing out - no time for you to get it done yourself! :D

CAROL - Did you get that quilt finished yesterday? Which one was it? and what's next? Is D-land tomorrow?

Supper tonite will be sitting outside next to the river - and simply enjoying the smell of the pine trees. We'll get there early afternoon and have time to sit and read, nap, stroll, or whatever. Lots of yellow iris grow wild along the river so maybe I'll be able to pick a little bouquet. Supper will be, most likely, tomato rice soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and tapioca pudding. We don't set up our outdoor camp stove usually for just one night so it will be a meal of easy cookin' inside.

What are you cookin' tonite?

Good morning from a very sunny, very warm, wonderful, SW. Pa...There will be those who are complaining already about the heat but to me, this is absolutely perfect...Of course, I don't have to be working (laboring) in the heat like some do.....I have the laundry hanging on the line, planted more marigolds along the shed and now deciding what more I want to put in the flower beds before I spread the mulch....
I spent yesterday "moving" my sister's kitchen stuff and can not believe how much stuff one person has accumulated...She still has a lot of my mother's pots and pans as well as pie plates...AND why in the world does 1 family need 2 sets of dishes each with 20 dinner plates?????But, she has the room so we moved every dish, pot and pan, lol......I'd load up the back of my car and drive it across the side yard (half a football field long) and unload it in the house and drive back...Tomorrow afternoon, her grand daughter is getting a few of her strong men together and they're moving the furniture...Next week, she'll have her washer and dryer delivered.....

Mary, you probably won't see this for a day or so but, know you'll be having a great time...Just thinking of sitting near a river sounds like heaven.....
I was happy to read from yesterday's post that maybe something might be happening with your next door neighbor...That whole thing is so sad.....
Mary, that train wreck was on the river but not close so the eagles are OK...The truck that ran into the train belongs to the company that Kevin had worked for a few years ago and one of the reasons Kevin retired was the way 2 of the sons had taken over and had no idea what they were doing...There was no reason that accident should have happened..There are strick rules regarding any vehicles being on or near the tracks when trains are running and why this happened was just plain stupid....Not only did they have major streets/roadways closed but they closed all boating on the river which was one of the biggest boating weekends of the year....

Jana, I've been meaning to ask you about that episode of Hot Bench you had talked about....Has it been on or do you know when it will be? I had watched that show every day but now, hardly turn on the TV but really would like to see it......And it's wonderful the way the kids gravitate to your house....You certainly have that special touch......

Tina, was glad to hear your "hurts" are healing...That would be terrible.....

Becca, hoping and praying that you're back on your feet soon......Get well soon, my friend.....

Well, gotta run...I can see a neighbor on her way over...
For my supper, my sister just told me, after her errands today, she's stopping at Chic fil la for chicken sandwiches....Sounds good to me and no cooking.......

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating..................

Good morning!

Irish - I haven't heard the date yet for the Hot Bench show. The girl who does my hair was supposed to go to the taping about a week ago. I will let you know when I find out.

Dinner is out tonight. Michael mentioned we haven't had a Five Guys burger for awhile, so I jumped at that idea, no cooking for me!

Aaron and Kate loved the new Top Gun movie - so much, they went again yesterday afternoon with the little girls who loved it too. Aaron highly recommends seeing it, the flying is spectacular.

Crenda is coming to bring me some sewing - the boys need scout patches attached. I wonder why she isn't doing them, she has my old very good machine and a teaching credential in Home-Ec, which includes sewing, but always is bringing me stuff to sew for her. Oh well, I'll do it, just is puzzling.

Sandee is done for the summer and can now have time to get her car repaired. Her puppies are growing fast. Ethan loves to go play with them and take the puppies for walks on their leashes. I am now second fiddle to some awfully cute puppies! LOL

Heading down to play in the Batt Cave. I do need to organize my freezers, stuff has gotten put away wrong and hard to find. That's first on the list.

Enjoy, prayers for Becca and all,
Hugs,
Jana

Maryz Have a great " get-away"! Sure hope something will be done about Vicki very soon. It's awful to live with all that!
I don't know where the time goes. It's been ages since I have been at the dinner table. Sorry about that. I made some yummy potato soup the other day, so that's our dinner tonight. I am pulling baby water grass pop ups in my new flower bed along side of our condo.
It's tedious because I planted marigold seeds and the tiny marigolds are the same size as these grassy weeds. Have to get the grass and NOT my flowers. 😉
I did half this morning. Then I will finish later when the shade gets over on that side of the building.
Poor Becca... Prayers for her. Hope she gets better soon.
Well that's all I have for now.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

It is almost dinner time and I am in a quandary not know what to cook. Mary takes Rice-a-Roni and mixes it up. I have some frozen Fried Rice and small pieces of chicken. I think I will cook all of it and call it dinner. Today has been busy. I had a dermatology appointment, then met with next President on Zoom to show her a few things, planted tomatoes and this evening after dinner have a meeting for the 2023 Quilt Show. Tomorrow is Disneyland. (Now do you see why I like to go?)

Maryz- Yes, I finished the quilt, but need to get binding on. See above, it didn't happen today. Have a great trip!

Jana - Enjoy dinner out this evening. Crenda must have something up her sleeve to be bringing you things. Enjoy time with Ethan and the girls.

Irish - You too going out to dinner! Enjoy! Nice of you to help your sister move. Glad to hear it is finally happening.

Vel - I think there is something in the Bible about letting the weeds and wheat grow together and separating when they are ready to harvest. Hard to tell the flowers from the weeds. Maybe you should wait a couple of weeks.

Have a great evening.
Carol
