Supper Club. Monday, April 25

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Apr 25, 2022 5:39 am

Good morning

Yesterday was great! Our Boondockers left about 8:30 AM and dropped off two bags of fresh produce and frozen chicken for us. They couldn’t take those things over the border when they went home. They were from Canada. So that was really nice. For us, anyway. The drive to the ocean was great – hardly any traffic and good weather. We parked the trailer smoothly with just one pass. And no one to watch and admire! (Those tire gouges next to pavement are NOT from us! 😁)

Enjoyed long beach walk and campfire. Then Autumn called and we talked to her for 15 minutes. Plans are still going ahead for May 17 wedding. They still won’t know till next week if they will be married in Texas or Santa Barbara. A few other factors are complicating their plans like vacation time from jobs, Covid, some medical stuff, etc.

It started raining about 5 PM and rained all night. We love the sound of the rain on the roof of the trailer. Looks like today we get a reprieve from the rain. We will do some more beach walking, fireside sitting, reading, hand stitching.

Becca, I am sorry about your neighbor. So nice of you to take food to them even when you aren’t feeling too well yourself. Hope your BP has bounced back

Carol, was last night Jay Leno night? How was it? I’m not home but in my mind I started counting my BC cookbooks. I can think of five. My big original one that was a wedding shower gift 51 years ago Autumn has now, but I have another edition that is 35 years old.

Lori, I’ve never tried the buttonhole maker on my Bernina. Maybe I should! In the 2 1/2 years that I have had it I haven’t done any clothing construction. When I do, it’s generally men’s flannel shirts and I usually put snaps on those.

Velda, that is how I’ve always heard Apple dumplings made. But I always wondered how they got the Apple cooked through. In our family we stew any fruit from blackberries to apples to pineapples. And drop in dumplings. On a side note, have you ever watched the movie “the Apple dumpling gang”? With Tim Conway and Don Knotts? And “the Apple dumpling Gang Rides again”? So funny!

Tina, was a gender reveal party yesterday a lot of fun? Boy or a girl? Did the parents know ahead of time or did they also find out at the party?

Supper will be grilled chicken, more potato salad, and sautéed rutabaga.

Maryz - I have 21 Betty Crocker Cookbooks. Most of them are things like "Dinner for Two", "Cookies", "Pies",
"Best Christmas". I do own 4 of the main cookbooks that are various years.

The lecture was not a lecture. Jay Leno did a monologue. He is so funny. The funniest joke was about going into a Container Store and seeing a lady pick up a plastic storage box, examining it and putting it down. Then she picks up another one. He says, "They are all empty!". After the monologue he was interviewed by asking questions the audience had submitted plus he told a story about how he acquired Johnny Carson's father's 1939 car. It was a very sweet story. We had a really great time. We go to the series in Long Beach, it is just across Terminal Island where all the containers have been sitting. (There are definitely fewer, but still a lot!) We have one more lecture in this series Malala Yousafzai is the last one on Monday, May 16th.

Lori - So glad to hear you are liking your Bernina. What model did you purchase?

Becca - Sorry for the loss of your neighbor. Hope you are feeling better today.

Vel - Enjoy your dance this evening.

Today I will continue cleaning. Also go to the gym and the meat market. Tonight's dinner will be chicken, salad, potato and vegetable.

Have a great day!
Carol

Good morning!

Carol- Leno is a huge car collector. My Daniel watches-d- a show of his with all his cars.

Mary - there is never an audience when you do it right! Matt and Scott are getting very adept at parking their rigs. Aaron can back and park a semi!

Not much here. Laundry and frogging. I am punting that microfiber back out the door and will go get a 108 wide back made of cotton! Sarah will help me reload and have it ready for Sherry to quilt it. My Solara passed the smog inspection, but was found that the power steering unit needed repair. That's one of the first major repair on that car in 22 years. Not bad.

Dinner - probably my tortilla soup. I have everything and the refrigerator needs a good purge. There are probably some science projects hiding in there. So not in the mood to do that!

Better get started,

Hugs,
Jana

Mary, free food is always nice. The class was for the 500 to 700 series of Bernina's. They sure have some nice features. Glad I took the class to learn them. I've gone though the book and tried things, but I don't think I would have ever figure some things out.

Carol, how fun to go see a live show.

Hi Becca, sounds like you had a busy morning.

I did some cleaning and laundry this morning while Bill took my car in to get tires. Then the chair repair guy finally came and fixed my chair. It's been broken since November. I started on a new quilt top. It's called Amelia, by GE designs. It uses a layer cake. Super easy.

Don't know what we will do for dinner, but I'm sure we won't starve.

Have a lovely evening.
Lori 8-)
