SUPPER CLUB - Easter Sunday, April 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Apr 17, 2022 6:48 am

Happy Easter, Everybody!

I hope you all have a wonderful day, whether with a crowd of noisy family or just yourselves. Our Drew is coming for brunch, but after he leaves, we'll be on our own. That's OK. I like Bill. He's good company. :D 💕

Yesterday I grocery shopped, baked a coconut cake, sewed. Then we had long calls with Autumn and in the evening my sis and dbil. Aut caught us all up on what's going on. Antonio was out buying a suit, wedding bands are almost ready to pick up, and her ordered dress should arrive any day. They still didn't have a date picked, but finally, during our call, settled on May 17th. It's going to be a very small ceremony, probably outside some place. They really want to drive out to Santa Barbara and get married in the garden of their beautiful court house there. Apparently it's a beautiful courthouse. and then take a camping honeymoon to Grand Canyon on their way back to Austin. She didn't know that Bill and I camped at Grand Canyon on OUR honeymoon. and my parents camped on their honeymoon, too, back in 1934. I guess camping honeymoons are a tradition in our family.

Also, my brother, Gene, texted that he is making his plans to fly down from AK for a week in August to visit when both my sisters are here. So it looks like we're going to be pretty busy come August!

LORI - That's a pretty quilt. Both of them! I, of course, Googled it. Happy Birthday to Aunt Wanda! I'm sorry she is now without her twin. Bill's sister is also a twin and I know has a hard time on their birthday - her twin brother died very suddenly 20 years ago while only in his mid-40's.

CAROL - I hope you're feeling better today so you can enjoy the holiday. But a reaction to the shot is so much better than having even a light case of the disease! My Bill can testify to that.

JANA - I hope the family drama settles down soon and you can concentrate on getting ready for your grand-kitty's arrival!! BTW, yesterday after shopping I made burgers and a meatloaf to freeze. And I tried the milk/bread panade (?). Will report back when we try that loaf. It's a new thing to me.

BECCA - the spring rolls we had were frozen - from Costco. I'm sure homemade would be much better, though I've never made them myself. If you do, let us know how they were!

TINA - did you get all that baking done? I baked a cake but that's all. The problem we have when I bake anything is WE EAT IT! But I was in the mood to bake and craving coconut cake.

We're having french toast, sausages, and fruit for brunch when Drew gets here. Tonite- no one but us and I'll let Bill decide on supper - put something and veggies on the grill or meatloaf and potatoes into the oven. I'm guessing he's going to go for the grill because it's going to be a pretty nice day and he and Drew are going to mount our old 52" TV out on the covered deck on the house wall for summer living.

What are you having for Easter dinner?

Maryz: What great news about Autumn! And same for plans in August with brother and sisters. Fun time!
Happy Easter!
We just had a quick lunch after church. Tonight I will fix some ham steaks for us. Our son could come this way, but still plans to make the trip when we get a nice weekend weather-wise as he will come visit on his motorcycle.
Just a day of rest and being lazy today.
I got my backing, border and binding yesterday to finish the March Lotto quilt. Will work on that this week.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Happy Easter Everyone!

We went to Mass and had Quiche and a fresh fruit salad for breakfast. Dinner tonight will be Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, fresh steamed broccoli and a salad. We have a yellow cake with chocolate chip in the freezer I need to thaw and frost. The store was out of powdered sugar yesterday so I may go try again or I may use a canned frosting. (I like coconut too, but this is all baked!)

Maryz - So happy for you! Autumn and Antonio getting married and brother visiting. It is good to be you these days. You also get a visit today from a DGS.

Becca - I too am avoiding sweets but will indulge a little today. That is really neat that an eagle came to sunrise service this morning. You are warmer than we are! Right now, at almost 10:30 AM it is 62*.

Vel - Enjoy your day of rest. A ham steak sounds perfect. We had the turkey in the freezer, so it is easy.

Yesterday someone told me who the next Guild President will be. (It is supposed to be a secret until mid May.) I am delighted. I think I was a little worried.

After not feeling so good again yesterday evening, then a good night's sleep I feel great this morning! My arm isn't even sore. Yes, it is much better than getting even a mild case of Covid!

Have a beautiful day!
Carol

Good afternoon!

Late to the table. I am eating out, Sarah's house for dinner. I just need to bring the green stuff salad and ice. The salad is made, well, so is the ice!

Mary - what wonderful news of Autumn and Antonio! May 17th is quickly approaching. Will you be sneaky and show up at the wedding? Santa Barbara is just down the coast from you.

Becca - what a sight that was to see the at the service.

Vel - a lazy day is good!

Carol - glad to hear the new president is picked and sounds like she will be a good one.

Not much else here. With the grave side service tomorrow afternoon, Ethan will be here, since Sarah will be there. I think he and grandma will make cookies or something like that. Maybe a couple of pie crusts for the freezer too. Gracie wants to make a cherry pie. So if I have those ahead, we can do that.

Happy Easter,
Hugs,
Jana
