Supper club, Saturday, April 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Apr 09, 2022 6:20 am

Good morning!

Yesterday was a good day but Still a busy one. Cleaning cooking and eating seems like all we have been doing this week. And not much sleeping. I am planning for today to be sew, rest, read, repeat. We will see how that goes

Looks like yesterday was the day for spaghetti! Ours turned out really good. I started with a jar of Ragu and, did a lot of doctoring, and simmered it on low in the crockpot for most of the day. We had a salad of mixed spring greens. I don’t know where all the Romaine lettuce has gone but I have not been able to find it for a couple of weeks now at Costco or Freddys. We much prefer Romaine.

Carol, it’s too early in the season to be too hot to cook. I worry your heat is a harbinger of heat to come. But I do like your menu last night – salad or sandwich

Izzy, congratulations on losing 20 pounds! And On only having 10 more to go! I remember the tornado decor of my kids’ youth. Sure wouldn’t mind having that look again for a few days

Jana, I am going to assume today is “reassemble the house day“ after getting carpets cleaned. Congratulations to Kate. She works so hard at what she does. Sarah is back to work at the sod company? Why did I think she had to quit working for them? Glad your tractor is an easy fix. Hope Michael isn’t too disappointed that he’s not getting a new one now. But you still get your new lamps, right?

Velda, did you find any bargsins at the church rummage sale? I have found some of my best treasures at our church sales. We always used to get a little goodie bag from our dentist with every cleaning – brush, toothpaste, floss. Not To mention the bag went into the car for Trash. But not anymore.

You were right, Becca, I chose the easiest thing and we all had a good dinner. But I had to remark to Bill As we were cleaning up last night that, for such an easy supper, it sure kept me busy all day long! And what a mess in the kitchen! Sure would like for your BP to straighten up and behave itself! Today is Marty Day! Have fun! And remember, I did give your CA a special lifelong dispensation to eat banned items. But I thank you for not mentioning the actual four letter word!

We have just enough cooked spaghetti, sauce, salad, & garlic bread left for tonight. So we will have a smaller repeat of last night's feast. And it’s all ready to go!

How about you? Got leftovers?

Mary, Spaghetti sounds delicious. We have plenty of romaine lettuce down here. It what I buy. I buy organic. It's not that much more.

Izzy, way to go on the weight loss. Sounds like you are meeting your goal.

It's been a busy week here. Bill left this morning to fly up to WA. His sister's funeral is today. I'm going to work on the taxes. I like doing it when there are no distractions. It was blazing hot here the last few days. Yesterday made it up to 101*. That was a record for April.

Yesterday I made a couple of rice bags. They came out really cute. I giving one to a friend.

Dinner will be something with chicken and a veggie.

Have a lovely day.

Just got home from a marvelous lunch. Huge generous servings. Have lunch now for tomorrow. 😉
Supper tonight will be a lite meal at the dance. They offer hot dogs, chips, drinks, popcorn, other snacks. Nice to eat there now and then to support them.
No bargains at the rummage sale. Found hooks for hanging a Christmas wreath on front door for 25¢. I bought two for that cheap price.
DH bought a magazine rack for $1.50.
I was hoping to find something in accent tables, etc. More rummage sales will be coming as the weather gets warmer.
Don't know much else.
I have two more rows to add into my Lotto Winning quilt( Celtic Twist). Those blocks are all so pretty.
Still will need backing and batting and binding.
Wait for the fabric sale later in the month at my favorite little quilt shop. He is only open on weekends now ( Friday and Saturday) This weekend is fleece on sale. He usually posts on Facebook what the sale is going to be for the next weekend.

Good afternoon!

Just took the little girls home. They were so good and helpful too. Lila was Grandpa's helper with the return vents and baseboards. Gracie helped me with dusting. We scrubbed the floor in front and under my range. It's nice and clean and can't be gotten at again, unless the range breaks. The front plate isn't removable without unscrewing a bunch of screws. Furniture is still out of place and most likely it will take until Monday to be normal again.

Michael may still need a new tractor. The shop is re-checking the transmission hydraulics. We are hoping they are OK. The seal was leaking badly and the transmission was arguing with Michael big time as it came up to the front yard. The lamps for the bedroom are not part of any deal. But, I may negotiate some fabric if a new tractor is needed. LOL!

Dinner - orange chicken over rice. With a small salad. I get artisan romaine lettuce at Costco. The heads are smaller, just right for two generous salads for us.

After a nap, I will go and sew. I have frogging to do on my paper pieced project. I am out of practice, but slowly remembering. It's only a couple of seams and they are only 2 or so inches to be frogged.

Do something fun!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

Becca - Glad you enjoyed Marty & Estel. You deserved a quiet day.

Maryz - You also deserved a quiet day. You have had quite a week!

Jana - Sounds like you had a great time with the little girls.

Lori - It was too hot to do anything! Today it was very pleasant though.

Vel - Congratulations on those Lotto winnings.

After being on Zoom for the SCCQG (Southern California Council of Quilt Guilds) from 9:30 AM - 12:45 PM, I had a Sew-in from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. It was enough! My DH and I went to Home Depot. He wanted some plastic shoe boxes to organize garage stuff and I wanted to look for some way to hang a quilt over my closet door. (Not all the time.) We found the answer in a drapery rod. I will be able to hang a completed quilt that has a hanging sleeve on it and photograph it or simply hang it. I am also thinking I could make a design wall that I could hang from it.

Tonight's dinner was a Turkey Burger and salad.

Carol
