SUPPER CLUB - Friday, March 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Mar 04, 2022 5:24 am

Good morning, fellow cookers and eaters!

I was up at 0330 this morning. Ding Dang Dog! The owls are "on the hoot" and for some reason he just can't abide owls hooting on HIS property! Having owls live here is really great most of the year, but not in March!

Yesterday I made Bill his apple pie, then went for my massage, got the mail, and was home by 12:30. I cleaned up my sewing room, organized everything I have left for the comfort blocks and set that all aside for the time being. Then I pulled floral fabrics for my new project and plan to cut enough for the first block or two to make sure I'm not messing up. (Not that such a thing as THAT has ever happened here . . ). If all goes well with my test block, I'll cut more fabric. I also need to make binding and label for my Tenn Waltz that Bill is working on. He made good progress on that yesterday and it's looking great. I still have the wedding garter to make but I don't think there's a rush on that so it's still in my "in box".

BECCA - Do you use a variety of beans in your cowboy beans or just one kind? I can't remember for sure, but I think Bill's mom, Beverly, used two or three kinds. One problem Bill had with Covid was a lot of phlegm that was almost choking him. He tried Mucinex and it worked like a charm. We had never tried it before but now it's stock medication in our cabinet. I hope you are feeling better soon.

LORI - I'm so glad you caught the problem with your dad's computer and that you think all his accounts are OK. I get so furious at people who make their living taking from other people - especially the elderly. (please don't tell your dad I just called him elderly!) We are getting so many scam calls on our phone despite the service we signed up for that is supposed to weed them out. And we never answer with "Hello". We've heard that some of the nogoodnicks have programs that use that word as the OK to infect your electronics or to transfer your info to theirs. If we don't know who is calling, we always answer with "Good morning", etc. (if we answer at all) If there's a pause, we hang up - it's a robocall.

CAROL - sorry abut your Sweet 16 having to go in. I hope you can finish the quilting with your 630. We have a Nolting, bought in 2008. We've never had it serviced either. We'd have to ship it back to Iowa for that. But Bill is very capable (it's really mostly his machine anyway), and once it was out of time and we called the factory they they talked him through what he needed to do. The Bernettes are manufactured in China. I'm not sure where the 300 series are made. Only the upper numbers are made in Switzerland now. Which might be why you weren't happy with your Bernette. Glad I was able to nudge a bit of rain your way. I have plenty more where that came from!! In fact, it's coming down pretty hard right now!

Tonite's supper is going to be chicken fajitas. I was going to make them a few days ago but decided to go with leftovers instead. So tonite is their night!

How about you?

Good Morning! Notice-- I actually made it back here. LOL
We are on the road to our old home town area. Visiting cemetery to remove Christmas wreaths. We need to remove before they clean up for spring. Hope we are doing this soon enough to retrieve our stuff. Most places start about March 15 - 30th.
Mucinex, oh it's good stuff. But I have to say, have not had to use it since COVID. Seems the vaccine and booster shot along with wearing masks and using sanitizer has kept me from even getting a cold. Humbly thankful for that.
I fixed chicken tenders with Air Fryer last night and we have left overs. Have tried two yummy desserts also. Did apple dumplings one night and mini apple pies yesterday using crescent rolls. OMG they were so yummy with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I even splurged. (Usually I avoid all desserts)
Today while traveling I actually figured out how to connect my iPod to the car radio, so it plays through the speakers. In our truck, it was a direct connect with cable. Now everything is blue tooth connect. What a nightmare! But I did it!! Oh, I felt so proud!! We like listening to our own music while traveling. I knew there had to be a way. Manuals don't help anymore. I was taking it along today to ask my son to help us, when we meet for lunch. ( We are picking him up at work and treating him to lunch while in town). So I tried again while we are traveling. Finally figured it out by myself. My son will be so proud, too, that I figured it out! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ‘
Do something fun today! And feel happy!!
HUGS, πŸ’• Vel

I don't know what to do for supper tonight. Nothing sounds appealing. I guess it will wait until later to decide.

Good afternoon!

It's been a busy morning around here. Sarah came down and trimmed up the trees in the front yard. They have needed this for awhile. They were overhanging the street and were in danger of get branches broke by the garbage truck doing it's thing. Then Matt needed my electric knife, which is older than dirt. My dad gave it to my mom as a Christmas gift when I was 12 years old - 57 years ago! Then Sarah ran out of space - seats in her truck for kids, so she now has my Highlander. So we trade, use, borrow everything! Matt is under strict orders not to lose that knife- It's a heirloom! LOL! Heck, so am I!

Aaron is out prowling the city for what is wrong. I better make sure we are correct! LOL -

Still debating the water heater. Thanks Lori for the info. I want the tankless, Michael, being the engineer is going over all the scenarios, just what engineers do. The heat pump will be done, just to prove me wrong. In my feeble brain, I just can't see how you take all the cold outside and poof, you get warmth! It's a big argument here, on how it works. I just say, it's smoke and mirrors or freaking magic. So far there is no convincing me.

Dinner - it will finally be the tortilla soup. Wonderful friends brought dinner over the other night, so our soup had been put off. I have a turkey almost thawed ready to cook either tomorrow or Sunday. So there will be turkey for dinners next week, including noodles. Wonder if the sign that pops up on my roof, announces noodles at Mom's, if all the kids will show up. They have a sixth sense when it comes to noodles. LOL

Well, our warm of yesterday disappeared and it's snowing across the valley on my mountains. Raining a bit here.

Hugs,
Jana
