Ahh.... the first sip in the morning of a good cup of fresh coffee made with freshly ground french roast beans. The best part of waking up!
Our weather hasn't been so hotsy totsy this past week so lots of quilting has been done. Bill finished my Christmas swap quilt. I've trimmed it but still have to do binding. And we have another one ready to go on the frame, probably today. I'm still working on putting together all the donated blocks for QIAD Comfort Quilt mission. Only about 4 more tops to do. Got 1-1/2 done yesterday. I will finish up that last 'half' today and may set this project aside for a new one - My good friend, Susie, is having a breast biopsy next week. She has/had so many health problems and still keeps on smiling - and camping. She loves camping. And I've decided she needs a quilt, no matter what her bx results are. So I'm going to make her a North Star quilt by MSQC from white and florals. It will be fun to start a new project again. Pulling fabrics is my favorite part of a new quilt - and making that first block.
CAROL - I'm trying awfully hard to push that pineapple express further south. We have ducks swimming on our back lawn!
JANA - I've never had chili over rice. Over baked potatoes, noodles, and even scrambled eggs, but never rice. I will have to try that one day. Fun to have a new cookbook and a local author to boot, But chocolate mint cake? How would that be green? Wouldn't the color of the chocolate dominate any food coloring? A Baltimore Album is a great idea for a travel project except the stitches are tiny and exact and definitely not work for the Alaska Highway. I've been this route many times and I know the road. It can be pretty rough in spots. This is why I've been thinking of things that are easier to stitch - hexies, yo-yo's, etc. You have reminded me though, that a B.A. is on my bucket list and I've even had a pattern for about 15 years. But the pattern isn't thrilling me so here it sits. Maybe one day it will.
VELDA - thank you! That RWB quilt would look good on our RV sofa - if we had one. We gave the sofa away and put in two small recliners instead.

MARY ROSE - I've never heard that ham is supposed to soften beans. Flavor, yes. I've used leftover pork roast, kielbasa, and chicken. I don't know why beef wouldn't work. But about beans - I've heard that salting them at the beginning of cooking will make them hard. And I've heard that NOT salting them at the beginning of cooking will make them hard. I'm wondering if anyone here has thoughts on that? And I have much better luck with beans if I use the quick soak method (bring to boil 2 min and then let sit for 1 hr) than if I do an overnight soak.
BECCA - you have some nice temps coming your way! And a lot of chores! How often does your Tina come? It's coming around to chore day again here. Soon. Maybe even today. But probably not. And I'm with you - how do two people make such a mess? We blame it on the dog. And the cat does his share, too, I'm sure! Maybe you should get a dog and/or cat. You can blame a lot of things on them! lol!
Well, yesterday Bill voted for the soup, so we had that and Red Lobster biscuits. And as usual, there is plenty left over. But tonite we'll probably have the leftover ham/potato/broccoli/cheesy thing. And then soup tomorrow night. But I've still got chicken fajitas on the back burner - so to speak.
What's on YOUR burner for tonite?
