SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Oct 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Oct 08, 2021 7:31 am

Good morning from home!

we came home a day early - yesterday afternoon. Weather wasn't being cooperative. Bill was getting antsy. We took 3 or 4 long walks a day, read books, watched a few movies during the stormy times (We now have two of the three 3-hour long Lord of the Rings movies under our belt), and I did a little sewing. I got 4 of the 12 blocks finished in my new Alaska project. They will have animals appliqued on them eventually. I want to get this project finished ASAP and sent to Gene. And now we've decided we're going to Texas for Christmas and have arranged the rest of life so we can leave Nov 23rd. That's only 6-1/2 weeks away. So much to do before we go.

we got the trailer emptied yesterday afternoon and I did 4 loads of laundry. Now to do some cleaning in there. I'm not going to get too crazy about it because we have another 4 nights reserved at another state park at the ocean Oct 18-22. I'll do a major clean after that one. So today, I'll get back to my sewing room and work on Alaska. LOTR is waiting patiently for me to get back to it, but it will have to wait for a while longer.

JANA - Tina sent me a text that your Michael has Covid and is in the hospital! I did receive texts whenever we left the campground. I'm praying he continues to improve. I think I read that his O2 sat. at 94. That's excellent! A bit of trivia here - the oximeter (the machine that measures the oxygen saturation level in the blood) was invented by our good friend, Warren, who passed away a few years ago. We have a photo of him as a young man in the early 50's standing next to the first oximeter which was the size of a refrigerator. Now they are just clipped onto the end of your finger.

VELDA - Tina told me that you and your hubby are also sick with Covid. I pray you are getting better, too. I don't know if this is true or not, but I recently heard that the medicos believe immunity from Phizer vaccines lasts only about 7 months in some people. I've heard nothing yet about Moderna or J&J. And immunity from actually having the disease, if there truly is immunity, only about 5 months. How accurate that info is is anyone's guess. Everyone is so different and the science changes daily.

BECCA - Praying you and/or CA stay safe from this virus! Last thing you need at your house!

LORI - how are you doing? How is your recovery going? I remember how it felt after my hystie to be able to walk all the way out to our mailbox - about 1/10 of a mile - and back. I'm feeling for your dad. My mom died at 74 (only 4 yrs older than I am now!) just short of their 55th anniversary and my dad was never quite the same. He missed her a lot.

CHICKIE - I hope you are having some good days yourself. I can't imagine fighting such severe dizzies every single day.

TINA - thanks for keeping me up as best you could. Sorry I was only able to receive messages whenever we left the campground, which wasn't every day. It was funny when we did, though, as both our phones would practically blow up with "incoming", once we got into town. Your Christmas quilts are beautiful! Did you get the king off to the quilter yet?

Supper. I'm trying to think. Last night we had frozen leftover green chili chicken enchiladas and roasted veggies. I think I'll make a pot of chili and put it into the crockpot. We have some bad weather on the horizon and I think chili and cornbread will taste warm and comforting.

What ideas do you have for your supper tonite?

Good morning!
Mary, sounds like your trip was really nice and relaxing and fun filled. Yes, we took the king to the quilter last Saturday and picked up the queen. We've had kids in and out so I didn't get a chance to get my binding on it yet. I want to do that and the label and wash it and go ahead and wrap it ASAP. Tomorrow is Preston's birthday, he'll be 6. We found a couple toys yesterday but we're going to Cruces to Sam's today and I'm hoping to find him an outfit of clothes to finish off his gifts.
I might find something at Sam's ro make for supper, I'll look for that 😊
Well I better get ready to go.
Praying for you all 🙏
Tina

Good morning!

I will wait a few more minutes until I call Michael. I know it's the busy time in the morning for the hospital. Crenda visits in the morning and Matt in the evening.

Dinner - humm, a Irish sounds good, either the car knows the way or a bag of chips. I think there are some chips in the house, somewhere. We do hide things, as I have many termites that love to graze!

So, I am here by myself. Ethan is home doing school work. I have disinfected all the surfaces in this house, twice now and I am getting a bit OCD over it. LOL! So trying to behave! I have laundry going, so not much else. I think after awhile I will head to the Batt Cave and sew . It's too quiet in the house, so I might just turn on some oldies mollies and sing at the top of my voice. No one could hear how off key I am!

Mary - glad you're home. A trip to Texas will be fun. Make sure you take something dressy, for a just in case you have a wedding to attend.

Tina - thanks for texting Mary. I always get my grands clothes. They really don't need another toy for their moms to pick up and put away.

Becca - funerals are hard no matter the circumstances. Matt had to officiate at several while he was Bishop.

Carol - thanks for the Disneyland info. The kids have a house rented in the same vicinity as that parking garage. About the same walking distance to the park, so they are planning on walking from the rental house.
Well, time to get me up and doing something!

Lots of hugs!
Jana

Welcome back Mary! Glad you had a good time, even if it was shortened.

Tina - a Happy Birthday to Preston! Hope you were successful in finding him clothes and you dinner.

Becca - So glad to hear you feel back to normal and are once again enjoying your walks. Are you sitting on your porch these days? I walk by houses in the neighborhood and see chairs on the porch, but seldom is there someone in them. There is a woman whose husband died and she is often outside talking to people who walk by and her brother who lives across the street. She has had a very interesting life and my DH and I have talked to her many times.

Jana- I have been thinking of you and Michael today and saying extra prayers. Hope he is able to come home soon!

Tonight was leftover Pork Chop Bake. When I reheat it I use a double boiler and heat up the rice first for 20 minutes with a little extra water then add the Pork Chops for about 15 minutes. Reheating always dries it out a bit, but this is the best way I have found. I do not like to reheat meat in the microwave.
