SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 29, 2021 6:41 am

Good morning,

Not a lot happening here this morning. After my walk, I have chiropractor and then a quick stop at the drugstore and then to pick up the mail. I'll get a few sewing things ready for the trailer. I'm pulling fabrics for LOTR blocks. Since a 7" blocks takes me about 4 hours, I won't need to take much because most of our time is spent outside around the campfire, walking the beach, touring the little nearby towns, and even a hop over the bridge into Astoria to the quilt shop there, maybe Costco, and probably the big grocery store. It's always fun to visit other Costco's. We'll be gone a week and since friends are going with us, sewing time will be limited. I know I'm overpacking. I usually do.

I also think I might mix up some cookie dough and freeze it in "drops" so I can make hot fresh cookies while camping. I will prep other food, too, for the trailer freezer. I chop onions and peppers, form burgers, and make enchiladas. I also bought a pre-made lasagna and am taking a pork roast and rolls for BBQ'd sandwiches with the leftovers. And everything to make chili and cornbread. I make up a mix of the dry ingredients for my cornbread and then just add the wet ingredients. Great dutch oven fare! I should be pretty well prepared.

TINA, you are always busy, busy, busy - like the Energizer Bunny. (I love the Energizer Bunny!). How was your dad's appointment yesterday? I've never done a teledoc appt. Not sure I could figure it out either! And yes, I do get up early. I love mornings. But I go to bed early, too. So usually get in about 7 hours.
LATER: Oh I see your dad's appt went well! Relief all around!

BECCA - I hope you and CA are able to stay in your home for a long time to come. I think everyone does best in their own home. You are right about the pillows - they can make or break a good night's sleep - and a neck! Right now we have 14 different pillows, so I hope Bill finds something he likes.

JANA - you really made me laugh when you mentioned rearranging the kitchen! Back in the mid-90's I swapped the utensil drawer and the silverware drawer. It made sense to put the silverware near the dishes and the utensils where I used them. Good gosh almighty! You'd have thought I'd picked up the house and rotated it 180*! Bill complained about that for about 15 years!! Last year I moved pans/baking dishes around to save my back from too much bending. He only complained a little bit then- because he never has to get out pans or baking dishes! I love your RR track plans!

IRISH - today is roof day!! Hope the weather cooperates! Funny about different cars in your driveway. People might start thinking you'd "gone into business"! ;) You did mention money stashed here and there. I think a lot of folks do that. My dad kept a fake wallet with just a bit of cash handy in case someone broke in and demanded money. He figured they would believe that was all he had.

VELDA - I did some of that the other day - sorted, tossed, donated. (or I WILL donate when I get the box filled up). The fabric Drew brought is part of the same line I bought so it will make purrfect borders and pillowcases. I have backing already - a map of Middle Earth where the story takes place. My other fabric will be sashing. His is a larger print. All three are in the photo I posted on Monday in Sew-in.

I made chicken soup last night. We have enough left for tonite though if Bill wants something different we can have the soup for lunch. He might prefer grilled burgers or enchiladas, both of which I have in the freezer. He will get his choice. Like with kids, life is always easier if he's allowed to make some important decisions, so I'll give him this one. lol!

How about you? What are YOU deciding to have for supper tonite?

Good morning!

Dinner is easy tonight - I bribed Michael last night for out, but after the youth were gone, it was a downpour rain. Plus the truck was in the way of getting my Highlander out of the garage. So the bribe will be paid today.

It so nice not to see the fallen down, broken swingset out the Batt Cave window. Most of the grands have out grown it, weight wise. Just my Gracie and Lila could swing on it. So in the new landscape plan Sarah drew, it will be a seating area around a firepit. We can hang a projector screen off my deck, and have movie night at Grandma's, out on the grass, with smores. The summer nights are perfect for that. We cheat smores around here, we use Keebler Fudge stripe cookies with the toasted marshmallows. We put one cookie on the stick first, sliding it down, out of the way, then toast the marshmallow, add other cookie on top and squish all together. No trying to unwrap a chocolate bar, it's on the cookie!

Uglies are caught up, so I can head to the Batt Cave to play. Sarah and Michael are still gone making the dump run. They must have gotten squirreled on the way home, it doesn't take this long!

Mary - you have this camping gig routine down pat. My kids are still learning how to get ready. I am sure your paper piecing skills and speed are improving with each block.

Becca - my mom never wanted to leave her home. Then surprised us one day and told me to pack it up. We did and that was a good thing for her. Hope you stay put!

Lori - just read the other post, many prayers for your healing. I have dealt with that here with my extended family.

So not much more around here.

Hugs,
Jana

Well I guess I am catching whatever DH has. We both took naps this afternoon. Don't feel much like cooking. Think I will do grilled cheese tonight. Nice and simple.
Didn't feel like sewing either. Thought I would, but I changed my mind.
Hope you all are ok.
HUGS, 💕 Vel
