SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 27

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Aug 27, 2021 5:59 am

Good morning,

We're losing daylight at the rate of 2 min/day. At least in the mornings. Probably the same in the evenings. :( And our temps are gradually lowering. This coming week our highs will only be 68-72. September is usually a really nice month here.

Yesterday I transplanted a bunch of things in the yard and even my avocado tree. I never thought it would 'take'. It was just a pit I tossed into some dirt for fun - just to see what would happen. In 10 months it grew to 2-/2 feet! Don't know if it will survive the winter, but I'll baby it if we get a cold snap or snow.

I also have Spell Dancer almost finished. I never thought to see if there was a correction printed. I think if anything, it's more of an omission rather than a mistake. And I might be making the mistake. But I'll check. I think I'll finish it today and it will be ready for quilting. I better alert the quilting department. He has no real projects going right now so fingers crossed!

We had a tiny bit of misty rain yesterday for about 15 minutes. Not enough to measure, but it was better than nothing. I feel for our wildlife. I keep dishes of water in front and back yards for rabbits and squirrels, a dish of water for birds, and now I have water out for frogs. While transplanting plants I found little frogs in the trays under my large pots. And another little frog near the water fountain on our deck, where ironically I have my collection of frogs displayed!

IRISH - your family is always on the move! Kathy and Tim are amazing! And don't fret the weeds on the side yard. I always wonder who decided some plants are weeds and therefore undesirable. Our lawn is studded with gold in spring with the dandelions. I always ask Bill to hold off mowing so I can enjoy them.

JANA - I'm going to pull my book today and study up on those stockings. Not really in the mood for them yet, but maybe I will get in the mood. I also need to try to find my Christmas Ribbons quilt. I love that pattern and I'm sure I made it last fall. Didn't I?

BECCA - I LOVED your wedding photos! Maybe we should all post pictures of our weddings. That would be fun to see.

TINA - It will be nice to have shade for sitting out. Will it also shade part of your pond so your turtles can find shade, too? Hope you get rested up. You've got sewing to do, girl!

Our pork roast supper was really good last night. Except Autumn & Antonio Zoomed us just as it was ready to come out of the oven. I turned the oven way down but we talked for an hour and a half and just as we closed out that visit, Bill's sister called us and talked for a bit. It was great catching up with everyone but our dinner was a bit tough by the time we ate at 8pm. I think I'll shred the pork today and we'll have BBQ pork sandwiches for supper tonite.

What's on your menu for tonite? Got any different ideas for leftover pork roast?

Good Morning,

Maryz - The rumor here is that you need two Avocado Trees. There are many in the neighborhood here so I am not sure that is true, however we have two large Avocado trees and they do have fruit on them.

Becca - How nice of your neighbor to give you brand new clothes!! You get new things to wear, fun.

Jana - I will bet Ethan finishes his lessons quickly on Saturday! You have never said what day in October your family will be at Disneyland. I will be there October 12th. I tend not to go into the Star Wars Land. I am looking forward to going on the new Jungle Cruise and the new Snow White ride. (I will also be going September 14th.) I just purchased a Magic Key Pass, so will be able to go now.

Dinner tonight needs to be purchased, however I am planning Pork Chop Skillet Dinner (BC).

Good morning!

Just finished tipping up all the chairs to let Yoohoodi do his thing. Getting the hang of all this.

Dinner didn't get the chicken and dumplings last night, so I will do them today. Just a small batch.

Carol - my kids are in Disneyland, California Adventure, San Diego and Harry Potter around the 12th of October as well. They have everything scheduled to a gnats eye. It is our UEA week - a teacher's thing here in Utah and the kids are out of school. Everyone here in Utah heads to Disneyland! The kids have rented a house to stay at for the week. Matt's family and Sarah's family.

Well, need to scoot,

Do fun things!

Hugs,
Jana

My chicken was delicious last night. Planned ahead and fixed extra. I precut all leftover chicken into bite size. We will have salad with chicken tonight. Need to get my homemade dressing made. We used the last of it, prior to moving. Now we will have fresh homemade french dressing tonight over our salads.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Hi everyone! I'm late..... again.
We've had bad bad weather since about 5. They had a couple microbursts in town and uprooted trees and tore roofs off of buildings. Lightening has been happening since 6 and keeps getting worse so everything is unplugged.....I was working on Christmas blocks. I'll continue tomorrow.
Mary, we can't rally have shade on the pond too much, the turtles have to be able to sun so they can digest their food. I didn't have to help today, Frankie started mowing his sister's yard and then started on ours so I got to play in my room most of the day..... well till 5 at least.
Mary, those are my perfect temperatures!
Yay for SD going to thre quilting department! 🥳🥳
Becca, yay for new clothes!
Jana, I need.... need to go to Disneyland! I love going! My favorite ride is soaring over California! I want to see what changes they made!
Carol, look how lucky you are, getting to go to Disneyland! How fun!
Vel, how's the furniture assemble going?
Irish I sent you a pm.
Well we ate out at Si Senor, it was yummy.
I'm on my cell because I have everything unplugged. I think we're getting a quiet window from the storm.
Oh, horrible heartbreaking murder happened here earlier, somebody killed a young woman. Thankfully they caught him at the Mexico border, he had her kids in the vehicle. EMS was called to check the kids out. They have him in custody.
We've had a really bad month, 4 young girls teenager to early 20's have been found dead just south of town, 10 illegals broke through the border patrol check station on I-10 and ended up here, they had to put the school's on lockdown because they got to close to them. They did catch them all finally. We've also had several drive by shootings that resulted in people dying. I don't know what's happening in our county lately. It's scary!
