SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 9

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Aug 09, 2021 6:16 am

Good morning,

We're off camping this morning. We leave in about 2 hours so I have a lot to do as I just rolled out of bed. We're stopping along the way to visit my brother, Albert's wife, Barb. She lives about 2 hours from us. We'll be camping at a State park right on the Columbia river, (WA side), about 70 miles east of Portland. We'll be home Thursday. Just as a new heat wave hits here. We'll be flirting with 100* again if forecasts are correct.

Yesterday I got about 9 blocks cut out and bagged for Spell Dancer. I'm taking my Halloween fabrics and might get more cut out, bagged, and labeled on this trip. EAch block is different so I put them in sandwich bags and label them. I learned the first time I did this pattern that labeling is essential.

IRISH - Good for your sis! Sounds like it's time for a move. How far will she be from you? Bill's sis and DBIL ordered a doublewide 2 yrs ago. It was mfd'd to their specs and it took about 6 months before they actually moved in. It's a beautiful home, purrfect for the two of them, though I would wish for more kitchen storage than they have.

TINA - glad you got most of what you wanted yesterday. Happy Birthday to Matthew. Hard to believe he's 4 yrs old. I'm not sure what "budding" is but hope it works out this time.

VELDA - what a bummer about your solar lights. We've had them for years in our yard, though not now since we re-landscaped 3 yrs ago. But they are so pretty. I'd like new ones. What's the word on the sale of your truck/trailer? And did you buy your new car yet or were you just looking?

JANA - sorry about the cupcakes. Did you use a timer? Bill has learned a lot (when he's awake) because we watch Great British Baking Show. Kudos for Sarah!

CAROL - there you are! Was thinking of you the other day as I was going through my recipe box. So many of them say "From QIAD Carol"! Especially the pork brine. Thank you for your comments on my "Pinkie". I'm now on my fourth Gypsy Wife and I've kind of got the bugs worked out. The bugs being me. This pattern is always a challenge. But I love it. Jen Kingwell is Australian and patterns are written a tiny bit differently from what I am accustomed to. I bought Asics shoes. My chiro wears them and likes them. I'd never heard of them before. I took out the soles and inserted my orthotics. I've only worn them one day so far. My first pair of shoes with orthotics was Brooks Running shoe and the sole broke down in 3 months so I won't be buying those again. New Balance lasted longer, but again, soles broke down after about 5 months. I've gone shoeless in the house for years but now I have to wear shoes most of the time with orthotics, so I'm still getting used to that, tripping over my shadow.

Supper tonite will be BBQ'd pork sandwiches and pasta salad. We'll have fresh veggies for HH snack.

I'm not taking my confuser camping but will check in with my phone if we have service along the river. If not, well, I hope someone sets the table so no one starves while I'm gone! I'll be home Thursday afternoon. See y'all then!

Here is nighttime picture. The light dances just like a flame πŸ”₯ I just love them.
One more week and we begin to move. I am so excited. Seems like a long wait, the the time is near now.

Got our laundry done first thing this moy. Now enjoying Cheerios and fresh peaches. Then another cup of coffee β˜•.
Today we take our donations to our church for sale. Then tonight is dance night. We eat out at a soup and salad bar. I love salad!! Don't feel guilty eating soup and salad. πŸ€—

By the way, Mary, buyers coming this week with check to buy truck and camper. Yes picked out a car: 2020 Ford Escape, 19,000 miles. Pretty Blue πŸ”΅ So excited. Dealership will deliver it when we call after the sale of camper and truck. Then we give them a check. We didn't want to finance it. This is perfect timing.

Have a great day.
HUGS, πŸ’• Vel

Good morning!

No idea on dinner yet, hopefully some yummy idea will pop into my head.

Semi quiet morning here. We have heard some loud explosions near by, could be a couple of things,, Camp Williams practicing cannon fire, the copper mine or the Tooele army Depot blowing up old bombs. Nothing yet on the news.

I have laundry going and we are setting up boundaries for the robot. The new boundary tape showed up. So that's my day.

Mary - have lots of fun out camping. We have stopped at that Stonehenge replica many years ago.

Vel - those are very pretty lights. Glad to see you have a new car picked out and hopefully the rig will be sold today. One week is not that long. Your new beginning on the 16th and the anniversary of when I got married. 46 years.

Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone!
I'm running behind today.
Mary, happy camping! Wow, you're going to have Spell Dancer together by the end of this month!
Pecan trees are made out of 2 different pecan trees. Usually the root system are from native pecan trees, they have better root systems than the ones with the good nuts. The native trees have small nuts that aren't very good quilty "they say", I personally like ours. They manipulated the nuts to get bigger nuts for selling plus they have different purposes and tastes. So they'll plant native nuts and when the tree gets about 2 years old they'll splice bud wood from whatever nut tree they want and when it starts growing they'll cut the other original branches off so from the bud up it'll be the nut they budded on and from the bud down it'll be the native tree that has the good strong root system. Budding pecan trees is where they take soft wood, new growth (the bud) and splice it into the tree that you want a specific nut.
Velda, love your solar lights! We just put 8 new fence cap solar lights out front yesterday, it was past time...I think I had 1 left of the old ones that worked. I wasn't even looking for any new ones but when we went into Home Depot Saturday they had a box of 4 for $17 so I bought 2 boxes and my front yard is lit up again. I sure hope they get your check to you the first part of the week so you know it's a done deal. It'll be a weight off your shoulders.
Jana, I can't figure out supper yet either. I hope the explosions aren't anything bad.
I've been tracing and cutting for my Christmas swap blocks while the kids have been occupied with Frankie earlier and then came in and played and colored and read books..... now they're watching a new movie. I'm taking a break because Frankie has been having trouble sleeping and he's not considerate when he gets up 10 or more times a night. So I'm grumpy now from being woken up so many times. I always make mistakes when I'm tired. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
