SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, June 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jun 29, 2021 4:47 am

Good COOL morning!

Yesterday we reached 107* with a "feels like temp" of 109*. In Renton, about 45 miles away where my son lives, it was 116*. CRAZY!! But after 3 days of triple digits, it should only be about 84* today. Whew! We did very little during the past 3 days but simply swelter. I haven't even cleaned the trailer since our 2-week camping trip. Maybe today . . . I woke up about 2:30 this morning and saw the heat wave broke and it was only about 65* out. I got up, opened all the windows, and savored the cool air. We finally got up at 3:30 and are sitting out on our deck, coffee in hand, enjoying all y'all's company while the house cools off. :D

LORI - it's hard to believe that you went without A/C until just 12 years ago. Happy for you that you have it now! I'm betting that after this week, a lot of folks here will be adding it to their homes

JANA - I'm going to start coming to your house for breakfast! YUM!

I don't have a plan for the day - maybe sew something, maybe clean something. I think our supper will be pozole - pork and hominy soup, only I don't have hominy so will probably sub in regular corn or garbanzo beans instead. I have a little bit of cooked pork left that I need to use up. I'll put in the crockpot out on the deck so it doesn't heat up the house.

What's your plan?

Good morning!
Whew Mary those are yucky temps no matter where you live! And living where I do I'll tell you that we never get used to anything above 98° . When growing up we might've had maybe 2 days all summer that would hit 100° hardly ever above it even. But now we're having weeks of it, it's crazy!
If I were you I would've been out in my 5er with the AC on!
Dad's here waiting for a video dr's appointment.
I think we're having pork chops for supper.
Our high this week is only supposed to be 78° we are totally loving these temps and the rain! God watered everything so beautifully ❤

Good morning!

Just talked to our handyman and he will be back on Thursday. Yippee. Daniel will be here on Friday or Saturday. It's up in the air when and how long as Kari's father was just diagnosed with cancer of the eye. We don't know any details, except surgery will happen sometime next week. So this may be a very short visit. Kari's family is her, her mom and a sister. And one other grandchild besides my little Karlie. So Kari will be a big support to her mom.

Dinner- I think the car will decide, I am not in the mood to cook. Too hot! Besides, shortly with company here, that means the whole tribe as well, I will be cooking a lot! You know how there are favorite aunts and uncles, well, Sarah is favorite aunt and Daniel is favorite uncle. He is well loved!

Heading to embroider the shirts in the Batt Cave. Need to get them done and out of my hair.

Matt's kids are camping with their other cousins and our little Baden was rough housing with one his age in the RV, climbing on the bunks and fell off, banging his head on a open cabinet door and putting a fairly big and deep gash in his forehead. Andrew jumped into action, stopping the bleeding and cleaning up the wound, before Crenda got there. Andrew paid attention in earning his scout merit badge in first aid. They took Baden to the ER, and the Dr used wound super glue instead of stitches. So now to keep a scar from forming, Baden needs to keep the wound area covered and when it heals , out of the sun for a year. This will be quite a feat, Baden is 5. Seems as sun exposure will cause a scar to become more prominent. That's a new one to me.

That's the latest escapades from here,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, so glad your heat wave is gone. Wow...that was really hot for you.

Tina, sounds like you're enjoying lovely weather. Hope it sticks around a bit.

Jana, take a break while you can. Sounds like you'll have a house full soon enough.

Our weather has been very nice. Mid 80's. They kept saying it was going to heat up, but it stayed pretty mild. I made the back for my latest wall hanging. I need to make something that's more of a challenge.
I'm going to try my hand at a Jen Kingwell pattern, "Long Time Gone." I'm going to try and use only scraps. That should be a challenge in itself.

Late lunch today, so no dinner. I will make some potato salad later this week for the weekend. Then I'll just need to grill up some chicken to go with it. I might have DH get some steaks for the weekend as well.

Have a lovely day.
