SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Feb 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:18 am

Good morning,

We are chilly this morning but dry. Going to get down into the twenties this week, but no rain (or snow). I was hoping to get more yard work done but not in those temps! Yesterday we had 19 mph winds all day long, so it was an indoor day, too. We went looking at new vanities for our bathroom reno and I found a 4-drawer plastic cart for my sewing in the trailer. The one I took south this winter worked extremely well except I broke it in two places. This morning I'm going to put binding on "Norm & Nanette" and a label on "Fox". I think Bill is going to load my reindeer top onto the LA frame today. It's next up. I am setting my GT quilt aside until my sashing and border fabrics arrive and start pulling fabrics for a log cabin throw quilt for our friends' new trailer. The Super Bowl game starts downstairs just about quitting time upstairs so timing will be purrfect. We'll watch the game, and root for KC, but without our Seahawks, they will be hollow cheers.

TINA - ugh!! Dust! I sure wouldn't want to be outside in that, breathing it all in. You'd need an N95 mask for sure! But a good reason to stay in and sew. Our news showed that procession of lights escorting the officer past your house. So sad. But we knew exactly where they were on the highway.

LORI - We see a lot of interesting regionally popular foods in restaurants and markets when we travel, especially in the SW, but up here, they aren't so plentiful. We don't have prepared masa in the stores here and only one restaurant even serves tamales. Years ago we used to buy them in a can but even that seems unavailable now. But I think it will be fun to try making them. I'll Google recipes before my next shopping trip. You were talking about a new sewing project. Did you decide what it's going to be? I don't know anything about Elnas and Janomes, but I believe Viking and Pfaff are the same. I hope your new little Elna is just what you need to take with you where ever you go.

MARY ROSE - I hope your afternoon yesterday was better than your morning. And also that your HR person was able to get the info to you that you needed. It's kind of understood that you will be denied disability benefits the first time you apply. You need to re-apply sometimes 3 or 4 times. Years ago, back in her pre-crazy days, I took Vicki to my doctor (because she has never had her own doctor) so she could get an official diagnosis of her Huntingtons Chorea and apply for disability. He warned her they would deny it but to keep applying. And they did turn her down but she never tried again. So please keep at it as your energy allows.

IRISH - we just have to know how our little eaglets are doing. Got any updates?

Generally, when I get to my last paragraph here, I don't have a clue to our supper unless leftovers are in the fridge. Same is true today. So I've been thinking and I believe tonite we're going with burgers on the grill during halftime. Bill can grill while I toss a salad. We'll skip the jo-jo's. We have chips if Bill really wants "potatoes".

Have you thought up something yet for your supper?

Mary, sounds like a good day to stay inside. Cold and wind together suck. The new machine is an okay backup. Plus the sewing part removes for making clothing. Which is something I need to make blouses and such. Bummer you don't have a market for the masa. I'm sure you'll find a recipe to make it.

Bill and Shane went to breakfast. So I'm finishing up my coffee and I'll get the back of the Tahoe ready for the boys trip to the park. I just put the seats down and throw in a quilt. It's only a mile drive. Wrigley gets so excited when we enter the park and there are geese walking around. Last week we saw a few babies with mom and dad. They are so cute and fluffy.

Shane's going to smoke a brisket while watching the game, so that will be dinner. Don't know if I'll go for the whole thing or just a bit. I'm not really a football fan.

Have a lovely day.

Hi everyone!
I've been on twice before and didn't get to post, I'm gonna change my name so nobody knows me 😂🤣 they keep interrupting.
Mary, I'm excited to see your quilts all finished! That deer one is different and I really liked how Lori's turned out, I'd like to make that one one day. We're still dry and windy here, yesterday was pretty nice but today it's back to the usual wind.
I have a recipe for making the masa if you'd like to give it a try, just let me know. I actually like it better than the store bought one, it's way easier ro work with for me.
Lori, I bet those baby geese are adorable! I'm afraid of adult geese, they always attack me!
Yummy brisket! It's my favorite!
I have chicken wings thawing for supper, it's Dad's night. I'll make mac and cheese to go with and we have salad.
We'll be watching the game. Frankie said he'll be rooting for the Chiefs too.
I paid bills today and input all our info for taxes, we owe again but nothing like last year. We only owe because Frankie worked 3 months last year otherwise we would've gotten a small refund..... all I ever hope for is not owing LOL
