SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 29, 2021 6:29 am

Good morning,

We're 39 and dry this morning. Well almost dry, anyway. For January in Western WA, that's pretty good!

I spent all day yesterday in my sewing room working on Get Together. I was cutting fabrics for my PP sashings in the morning, and then started sewing them in the afternoon. I got 5 sashing pieces finished and 19 more to go. There are 9 FG to each 9-1/2" sashing piece. They are shaped a little differently than regular geese - more squatty. After this I'll be making 125 3-1/2" 9P's. Then I can start assembling the quilt. It's a time-eater, but a fun time-eater.

BECCA - hooray for #23! Do they live close to you? Do they know yet if it's a boy or a girl? Your vat of soup sounds tempting. I'll be making some soon, too.

JANA - So, did the island top go on yesterday? I hope you get your machine back early so you can put a cap on this reno and get busy sewing again! Happy you found your special treat. I've never heard of them, but then I scurry by the ice cream aisle quickly because if I don't, some jumps into my cart and follows me home!

LORI - Empty houses can go downhill quickly. I love drumsticks and Nutty Buddies, too. My favorites! I'm glad Miss Molly is helping you sew. Maybe she figures you need supervision and someone's got to do it. Riley was always nesting on my fabric as I was trying to run it through the machine. I miss her a lot, but not her 2-inch hair! Foxy's food dish is on my big sewing table - about the only place in the house that Scott can't reach it - so he is there a lot, too, quietly observing. He has a basket on top shelf across the room where he spends a good part of the day.

TINA - do you know what tests Mary Rose was having? Cardiac? Glad she got home OK and that her son was with her. That pillowcase is just so darn purrfect, judging by that happy smile!

IRISH - maybe you and Kevin should go together and buy a small duplex in FL for impromptu getaways. I hope PA gets on board with the vaccines. We find the vacc clinics fill up almost before the announce them, but at least WA is having more and more of them now. Kathy is smart to leave enough stuff with you so she doesn't have to lug big suitcases on the plane. So nice that you get to see her so often! Sedona is a gorgeous place. Almost magical! I can't imagine what it must look like in the snow.

I haven't thought about supper yet. Will need to consult with the HOH to see what he's in the mood for. Probably not more lasagna, so into the freezer it goes. And maybe out will come mini-meatloaves. With bakers, brussels sprouts? Or Soup? Burgers? Breakfast? Maybe I'll wait and be surprised! If I do the meatloaves, I can put everything in the oven and let it bake . . . Almost like a no cooking day! Guess you can tell which direction I'm leaning!

And you?

Good morning!

Sending Michael off to the dentist - just a cleaning. I am staying home to answer questions if my handyman has any. Our paint is on sale, so he will get that and then I need to have the master bedroom ready for Monday. I have furniture sliders to go under the dressers, etc, so they can be moved easily. The hard thing is the current stupid bed, which I so hate! It's a platform bed, with drawers underneath. It doesn't move - so we have to disassemble it and of course, the new one won't be here quite yet. We may wait to paint that wall, until the new one is here. The old bed was made to hold a waterbed, which we got rid of more than 30 years ago! I would sit and sew at night, hemming and binding, not remembering that it was a waterbed, and would put a pin in it, and then have to fix that leak. Those were my dumb days! LOL!

Dinner - I got some whole wheat ciabatta rolls, that I will slice and make pizzas on.

Mary - yes the top is on and he is now securing it to the cabinets. He is also making the area where the machine sits very sturdy, by doubling the thickness just in that open area. All the drawers are back in as well. Didn't lose any of the 80 screws that hold the slide mechanism- a feat in itself!

Becca - what fun another little one to join your wonderful family!

Time to find that paint chip,
Stay Safe
Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone!
I've been in my sewing room most of the day, woohoo! I have all those strips cut into 2 1/2" sections and started sewing some and then went ahead and have it all put up on my design wall! Now just to get them all sewn together.
Mary, your quilt sounds like it's keeping you busy, I'm looking forward to seeing it when your done. Are you making it queen or king size?
Becca, I love soup too, I was going through recipes tonight to share with one of my aunts. I guess she's not used to cooking so much and wanted new ideas.
Jana, I laughed about the pins in the waterbed LOL too funny. Your bat cave sounds awesome, looking forward to a tour ❤
I can't remember what the procedures were called that Maryrose had done but it was looking at her insides with scope things. And she said the dr might want to do another one but different.
I've been asked to make a teacher a tshirt quilt. I told her I haven't done one yet and after I do the boys I'd let her know. She says she has 50 tshirts! That seems like too many for a quilt to me.
We had chicken strips and salad for supper.
Tina
Thank you all about Easton and his pillow case, he really loves it!

Jana, lol. Pins in a water bed are not so good. We had a water bed too. We went to a regular bed about 20 years ago. The one thing I did like was the temperature control. Warm in winter, cool in summer.

Tina, so great that you got to spend the day in your sewing room.

Mary, not only Molly, but Jack and Wrigley too. All the furry kids want to be with mama.

Leftover soup and corn bread was dinner.
