SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Oct 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:50 am

Good morning,

Well, as expected, the day happened even though I didn't have a plan! I cleaned an organized all three pantries and took anything I thought we could use this winter out to the fifth-wheel. Today will be trying to stow all that stuff! We have 18-inch deep under-bed storage in the trailer plus a floor to ceiling pantry so it should all fit. I also played with the alphabets on my sewing machine so I could do a few labels. Usually I hand stitch or cross-stitch my labels, but I thought the machine would be quicker for these 3 quilts I made and am taking to TX. I think I have 5 alphabets and one of them is Cyrillic. Now why that, do you suppose??? Bill twisted his ankle yesterday while stepping off the ladder - his foot rolled. He elevated and iced it for a few hours and he's much better today but chiropractor will help him tomorrow.

IRISH - sounds like you are eating pretty well! I liked that stuffed shells recipe. When your energy fully returns, so will your desire to do the things you've always loved. So don't give up on those projects yet! The toy dishes - we want to give Autumn a new set of dishes for Christmas/birthday as she starts her new life. But we don't want to choose them for her. So we thought it would be cute to give her a toy set to represent her gift and the money to go shopping. She could donate the dishes, then, to a toy drive or food bank. Who knew toy dishes were OUT! But pans are in - I don't get that. Love the eagles! Funny that junior doesn't seem to want to grow up. My kids couldn't wait to be out on their own! Wonder what he'll do when he has to share babysitting duties.

BECCA - sounds like your little Wyatt is a trooper, too! He and my sister could be broken arm pen pals! lol! Hope you don't get much weather from the hurricane. I expect my DD in Alexandria, VA will get some remnants of the storm, too.

TINA - did you get the last of the painting done? Got a delivery date yet for your new baby? And do you have a quilt to put on it? Cindy bought a new quilting machine and frame but never used it until long after her warranty had run out! If she'd found problems she would have been on her own and had to pay for any expenses. And snow! In October! In Deming!! I laugh every time I think of our friends who haven't traveled much to other states who told us they wanted to go south to NM for the winter to be warm. lol!

JANA - I'm so happy you are teaching cursive to Ethan. I still can't believe that they aren't teaching it in schools today. I remember having 20 min classes in the Palmer method of penmanship every day. Though my younger sis (a leftie if that matters) had the same classes by the same teachers and her handwriting looks like she dipped a baby chick into ink and bounced it across her page! lol! Glad your door is in, you aren't freezing, and it will be a finished project soon!

LORI - oooh, wineries! We love wineries! Tasting, shopping, eating . . . . And most wineries here will even allow your dog in! Some even cater to dogs! Which ones did you visit?

Our supper last night was so delicious I wanted seconds, but forebore. I cleaned the freezer and found some cooked, shredded chicken. I added it to the leftover mac & cheese, poured in some Cream of Chicken w/Herbs soup and a sprinkling of red pepper flakes. Stirred it up and put it into the crockpot. Major Yum!! Of course, dealing with leftovers like this means you have even MORE leftovers, so tonite we'll clean up the last of that with a salad. I already have a beef roast in the fridge, thawing, for tomorrow and a few days following. . . I see hash and soup in our future . . .

What's going to be bubbling in YOUR cauldron for tonite?

Good morning!
I thought I'd post before the kids arrived today. I've got laundry sorted so that'll be in between zoom school and homework. Easton has PE, Art and Music and Specials every week so I try to make sure he does 1 on Monday, 1 on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday so by Thursday and Friday he's just doing his regular work and winding down for the weekend. I personally think paying these teachers full salary to do a 5 minute video for the week is totally wrong, they could be helping the teachers with their small and individual zoom meetings or tutoring or something useful! I mean seriously, they do 1 five minute video that is for the whole entire week and the teachers are doing live zoom for an hour, small groups for 20 to 30 minutes plus some teachers do individual zoom which I guess is like one on one tutoring and they are all getting their same regular pay as if they were in class. To me it just adds stress to have the specials when we're trying to just make sure the kids are actually learning their regular stuff. Ok, I'm stepping down off my soapbox.
Mary, I hope Bill is ok! I know twisted ankles can be painful and seem to take forever to mend. I still have the trim to paint. I took a survey last night with Maria and Holly because I couldn't decide in Mauve or Sage Green for trim, my walls are country white. They both voted sage green so I need to get that still but no place here to get it so we have to go to Cruces this weekend. No delivery date yet, hopefully I'll hear something this next week. My dad's quilt will be first on quilted, he needs it 😊
Irish, so good seeing you pay again. The eagles are too funny.
Jana, I hope your door is in and it's all warm again in your room for you.
Becca, I want to borrow your cleaning lady 😊
Carol, are your temps dropping crazy like ours? We went from 90 to 27 in about 36 hours!
I'm not sure about supper yet, we're delivery groceries to Dad tonight, it's refinish the animal food and treats time at his house LOL

Good morning!

Handyman and Michael are getting the new door locks renewed and installed. We have a system that is easy and simple to rekey. Then on to the trim.

Made cranberry muffins this morning and doubled the batch to freeze some. I am getting very lazy - or maybe efficient in my old age.

Dinner - last night I made a new soup- chicken cordon bleu. Very yummy and we have enough for tonight.

Hopefully will make it down to the Batt Cave to sew.

All's auiet on my kids front. No new stories.

Hugs,
Jana

I'm back, Easton is doing his 20 minutes of reading and then we'll work on fractions for a little bit and Jazmyne is on her second zoom class for the day. I think she's doing art LOL she says she can't draw and keeps laughing cause it looks wonky LOL
Becca, glad the tree didn't come down anywhere too bother or hurt anyone.
Jana, yay for the door! I love trying new recipes LOL my dad always said he's the Guinea pig ❤
I think we might get a too go order for supper.
I checked to see if my machine has been charged to my account yet but it's not showing anything so far but I'm not sure if they charge when they ship or when I receive.

Good Afternoon!
Tina - It is a beautiful day here today, about 76*. Last night and the rest of the week the night temperatures are in the high 50s. It is much cooler than a couple of weeks ago, however you need to remember that I am at the coast so there isn't as big of a difference in temperatures. The ocean tends to temperate (moderate) the temperatures between seasons.

This evening for dinner I will prepare a sheet pan supper with Chicken and potatoes and a honey mustard sauce.

Our cat has gone down further still. She is a short haired calico who is 16 1/2 years old. My DH is having a real problem letting her go. I don't want to step in and take her to the vet to be put down, because it will be too hard on him. It is going to break both of our hearts, but I think with my head and not my heart in this case it would be better for her. How do people do this??

Carol
