SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Sept 26
Good morning!
No rain! Hooray! But I think we have more on the way later today. But next week - just watch our sunshine! I have some yard work I need to do next week - pull in all the yard art - bunnies, squirrels, coyotes, etc - and some leaves to rake unless Bill will blow them instead. I am loving how we've simplified our yard and the less work it takes to keep it up. Last night the coyotes were howling about 1:00am and they were VERY close in our front woods. Foxtrot wasn't on the bed so I went looking for him upstairs. I didn't want him to become a snack! He was on the back of the couch, looking out the front window, eyes huge! I picked him up (no small feat - he's 17#) and started to carry him downstairs to the bedroom so we could shut him and Scott in with us. Scottie was barking his head off, Foxy was struggling, and a few times I thought we were all going to end up tumbling down the stairs but we made it! After all that it took me over an hour to go back to sleep.
Al & Tina will be leaving this afternoon. They are anxious to get home so they can come back again to get their new rig! My sister went to look at this trailer grumbling, telling me she didn't want a new trailer (their old one is falling apart, literally!), but her eyes are sparkling now! I'm so happy she changed her mind! She says she can't wait!
Our day with our SIL, Barb, went well. My two nieces were there, too, and we had a nice visit. But it was a long day and much of our 4-hr round trip was in hard rain squalls and heavy traffic. Didn't get home until way past Scottie's suppertime and he was waiting to tell us all about THAT! lol!
I got my sewing room cleaned up and my "Whisk..." pattern and fabrics out and I'm ready to rock this project. I found at Hobby Lobby a 12" Santa wearing an apron, a chef's hat, and holding up a whisk and a tray of cookies. Will make a great accent to put with the quilt!
JANA - congrats to your friend with the new RV! Sounds like she got a bunkhouse model which is purrfect with four little ones! Back when mine were little ones (they are now 43, 45, and 48) our "bunkhouse model" was 3 sleeping bags and a tarp caught in the car door and spread out over them! lol! Oh, I hope your Daniel is able to make his move smoothly. He knows he's got a lot of family support in UT! I'm sure you are over the moon! I was just telling Bill yesterday that he's been fighting the fires and is your only one in CA but hadn't heard any hints that he might be moving to UT - and then next morning you post he's starting to make plans! Happy Day!!
CAROL - I might try the oven next time, but will definitely cut the crock pot time in half at least! But it sure is good!
BECCA - was so good to see your post in sew-in this morning! Are you feeling better? And how has CA done with you being so sick? I bet your kids and grands have been taking good care of you both!
Going to be a quiet night tonite with Al & Tina gone. We have leftover pork chops and rice so that and a salad will be our supper. No real cooking. My cooking muscles are tired! lol!!

Good morning!
It is a beautiful fall, chilly day. Slowly the haze from the fires is being blown out of the valley.
I did something to wrench my right wrist/thumb. So out came the brace and my productivity went south! Can't pick up things with that hand, so glad I am left handed! Michael is being a big help. Except he can't cook, so I am coming up with very simple things to eat for a few days. His cooking skills consists of soup, cereal, and heating up a leftover, if I have one. Which right now, I don't.
So not much going on here. Sarah is leaving, Matt is busy and Aaron has his hands full on the freeway. See, normal! LOL!
Stay safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Sept 26
Good afternoon from a gorgeous, sunny, warm, perfect Fall day in SW. Pa......It's been a couple of days since I've checked but boy do I have a story to tell.....As you know, this is/was to be beach week and then Lena's birthday bash next Sat. Well, guess who was exposed to Covid and guess who isn't making the trip????? The other day, my sister, another gal and I got together with another friend, at her house, and played cards and ate pizza....That gal who's house we met, is very handicapped, uses a walked and really doesn't go anywhere....But, she was so good that day but we got a call the next morning, she was rushed to the hospital and not responding...After they worked on her for a couple of hours, she came back and then told her husband she tested positive for Covid! So, we all made calls to our doctors and hopefully, we'll get through this with no problem.....I was told, quarantine for 14 days, if I have any symptoms, go immediately and get tested...They did say, if you go too soon, you risk getting a false/positive result...What is funny, I have all the symptoms, that's my normal but they did tell me, I'd know if it got worse....My sister said, she was told to quarantine 5 - 8 days and knowing her, come that 8th day, she'll be out....Me, I can stay home, no problem...The gal in the hospital is feeling much, much better...She is on oxygen and steroids and her sugar was elevated...Kevin had been here so I made sure he knew but he's been really good about taking precautions and I texted my neighbor but I hadn't really been close other than hanging over the back porch or yelling through the yard....BUT, on Thursday, my neighbor called to tell me, my ex mower's Mom was going to be tested....She hasn't felt good and doctor though she should go and she'll know in 5 days...Kevin and I have talked at length about how people are really getting lax...Our numbers were really coming down and then places opened up, football games are starting and college kids are partying.......
I'm upset about the trip but mostly I'm sad that I won't see Lena dancing in the waves but Cari promised lots and lots of pictures and videos....But, I so happy for Kathy, she'll have her 3 kids and spouses all together for the 1st time in awhile.....And, I was thinking there will be another time...Also said, I think as you age, these are little disappointments...Had this happened years ago, it would have been a big thing.....So, I'll have almost 2 weeks to stay in my pjs all day, sit on the back deck and read or just maybe tackle some of those UFOs.....Any one want to bet I don't accomplish too much, lol.....
So, now that I've written my novel, I've taken up enough of your time....But, I hope everyone is OK, enjoying the fall weather (if your weather is like mine)......
Mary, I would panic if I had a critter like that so close to the house..Especially if my fur babies could get out.....Baby Girl likes to go out on the deck and it bothers me if she sticks her head through the railing, lol....
Becca so happy to hear you're feeling better, you really had us worried.....
Jana, hoping for the best for your Daniel....And sure hope your wrist/thumb feel better soon.....I have a feeling with your family being so close, you won't go hungry.....But, maybe it's time for you to take it easy.......
Just heard from Kathy, they are on their way to pick up all the boxes on my front porch and a "through the storm door" hug.....
As far as dinner, I went crazy with the cooking yesterday...Made a "forbidden food" casserole (only because Baby Girl wanted some "mac n cheese") and also made a meat loaf......So, I'll have left overs for the next couple of days.....
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating.............
Eagle Update: The Ft. Myers eagles have been busy getting their nest ready for their new family BUT, their youngest from the last clutch decided to come back home...The parents are bringing fish to the nest and this "baby" is really getting spoiled....I'm thinking they might have to build an addition on to the nest....It's almost like when your kids won't leave home.....But, it will be interesting to see what will happen when it's time for Harriet to lay her eggs, she might not like having another adult on the nest......Just hope it doesn't get mean.......

Today was another Zoom Sew-in. The individuals coming are really enjoying the time together. Some are just coming for 30 minutes others stay four hours. I am getting a lot of small things done! Today I made a mask using the elastic with a slide. It fits!!
Tonight's dinner was Parmesan Chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was delicious!
