SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, May 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat May 09, 2020 7:06 am

Good morning!

It's beautiful here today. I'm sitting in the swing out on the deck, birds chirping, squirrels chatting, fountain tinkling, cat snuggling, and me chatting up my peeps! Glorious! We'll be about 83* today and tomorrow. I'll be hanging sheets and towels out on the lines today. Making the switch from flannels to cottons, I think. Not sure what all else I'll get into today. We have friends, Doyle & Susie, coming over to pick up a mask about 3pm. They'll be staying for a glass of wine around the campfire.

BECCA - 20's at night is chilly! Even in winter we're not usually that cold. I'd be leaving my flannels on the bed! lol! No results back yet on Al's biopsies. And now it's the weekend. The waiting is torturous for him. He thought he'd only be in the hospital for 2 days but now it will be 5 at the very least. All his family is about 125 miles away and we're 50 miles. We might go visit him tomorrow. The hospital allows visitors but only one at a time and only for a few minutes. Thanks for asking.

JANA - sorry to hear the bad news that your Kate is going over to the dark side and eating nasty foods. Gaackkk!!! Did you get your tote finished yet? Now you need to make a red/white/blue one for summer. Congrats on fitting into that smaller sized blouse!! What a sweet feeling that must be! I use Gutermann's thread, too, but for general piecing, I buy Masterpiece cones from Superior in neutral colors. I've seen those pouches made for crochet hooks, too. I learned to knit basic stitch knit/pearl when I was young but just can't pick it up now. I can do simple crochet, but it really bothers my hands and wrists and sets my tennis elbow flaming, so, while I hang on to my hooks and patterns, I don't really do it anymore. I used to like doing thread snowflakes.

LORI - my muslin order from Joann's arrived yesterday! Yay! Only took 1 week. Now I need my Mickey Mouse fabric from Etsy, my elastic from Northern Threads in FBX, and my interfacing from QIAD. All say they are shipped. How are you going to quilt Tea Party? I want a simple daisy like flower pattern. This is Bill's department and he usually only quilts on rainy days. So mine is still draped over the quilting frame, waiting. I have had my plaid quilts (I did two sets) together for over a year, waiting for rainy days . . . When will your DH be home? Will he be bringing dad with him or will there be a bigger deal move in the near future?

Yesterday I was out in the yard for a while, feeding roses, staking up budding gladioli, and looking for a tiny part that fell off the mower deck while Bill was mowing with the tractor. Didn't find it, but he found a spare in the shop so all was good. But not before I spent a good 20 minutes walking the mower path. I got binding and label on my Paris quilt and finished my cross-stitched label for my bunny quilt. Will stitch that on today.

Supper will be whatever I find to put out for happy hour tonite with our company. Veggies & hummus and chips & salsa probably.

How is your supper plan coming along?

Good morning!

Michael and his tractor are getting reaquainted. He is out mowing, currently in the front yard. Takes about 90 minutes to do front and back. That is with the tractor, it would never get done with a walk behind mower! If he is in the mood, cross cuts and then sweeps the grass - it really looks nice, but adds more time.

Mary - I think Bill's missing piece was found here in my yard! Michael found a piece to our tractor the other day wondering how it got there - he didn't know it was missing. It was the extra one we have. There are 100 ways for it to have moved - I have 10 grandgremlins! Thanks for the idea of a red, white and blue tote. Will check my stash to see what is there.

Not much going on here. We will pickup a grocery order at noon, bring home. Wipe it down and put it away. Highlight of my day! LOL!

Dinner - I have no idea, I have tons to pick from, just nothing floats my boat right now. We won't starve. Humm, picking up some chips, sounds good right now!

Stay safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a very chilly, very wintery, SW. Pa....Mother Nature has lost her mind, we had that nasty 4 letter word this morning and cold temps over night.....BRRRRR

Mary, Sitting outside, sitting on your swing, (sigh, sigh, sigh).....Very green with envy..... You manage to accomplish so much even when you don't have things planned....Not me, I make a list and forget where I put that list.....Had a call from Kathy (who by the way was sitting on her patio) and she said, I needed to pick up my mail..She had mailed a package and was afraid it wouldn't fit in my box and might end up in the office for the weekend...So, normally, I walk the couple of yards, across the yard and street and maybe 20 feet down the street but, it was raining cats and dogs so I got in the car...It took me longer to get the car going that it would have if I'd have walked, lol....But, there was a big package...She sent a book and also got me a membership in 1 of her book clubs along with all kinds of goodies from their last trip to Hawaii....She's still planning on coming this way the end of the month but we'll see if we actually go to the beach....To me, that's still a little iffy...But, our state is opening up, section by section....

Jana, I often think of Jim and his lawnmower and how many hours it took him to do our yard...Then I think of our Kevin and that new toy he has that does mows by it's self...I told him, they should set one up in my yard, lots of advertising...I really, really like your new tote...And Mary's suggestion is perfect...Of course, more perfect would be if you make and send it this way...(any color will be good).....Hope your little one is improving.....

Becca, did you have winter down your way? What a shock to all the birds that thought it was spring....Poor
robins thought they were shopping in the frozen section when they tried to pull out those worms....Stay warm, it has to get better, right???

Not much happening in my neighborhood, nice and quiet....Not much happening in my house, either...Baby Girl is back working on her 2nd nap, which means I can't run the vacuum or make a lot of noise...So, might just stay in my sewing room and work on some embroidered blocks that I found in one of my bins...I have enough done for a quilt so better "get er done"......
Not sure what dinner might be....I haven't had a poached egg for awhile so maybe that's it.....

You all have a great rest of the day....Please stay safe......

Happy eating..................

Eagle report:, Mary, you had asked what was happening and now, it's mostly eating, sleeping and growing....The 2 in the Ft. Myers nest are now both the same size...It seemed to take forever for the younger one to catch up but now, other than feather colors, it's hard to tell them apart...The other night, an owl knocked Harriet off the branch she was sleeping on, but Daddy came to the rescue, flew after and chased the owl until Mom could get back to the babies...Owls are known for being nasty and of course have better eyesight than the eagle so can cause trouble...Of course if Daddy had caught the eagle, that might have been a much different story....No one messes with his family.....
The family up here are doing pretty much the same.......

Jana, I looked for that tote pattern, but couldn't find it. It might not be in print anymore.
I have a pattern for a tote from "Beach Sands Design" that I've never made. Maybe I try that one.

Mary, my order from QIAD came this morning. Yippie! I got 2 layer cakes, 10 pack of rotary blades and a new Accuquilt die. It's going to be a fun day for me. I'm sitting on the patio too. It is a beautiful morning. It was overcast when I got up, but now the sun is out. Emma is on the patio table helping me.

Irish, isn't fun to get packages. Bummer you weather is soggy.

Becca, FIL has been here many times. He used to live in California, so we know he like the weather better. Plus, our house is smaller and one story which will make things much easier for him. He's doing well. He had a doctor's appt. on Thursday and they said he's doing well. He'll go back in 5 weeks and then he can travel if everything looks good. We'll have to decide what to do with the house, but that's not a priority right now.

Well I want to finish ups the Tea Party quilt today, so I better get busy. I need to do a few cleaning chores first. I think I'll make chicken tacos for dinner. I have some avocados I need to eat up, and they go well in tacos.

Have a lovely day.
