Supper Club - Monday, March 9, 2020
Good WINDY morning! We are again going for the 60s with red flag wind warnings. It’s too windy to hang out the laundry.
Good RAINY morning! With best intentions, I started to write a note yesterday, but I was interrupted to make brunch and never got back here. I worked on my Fancy Forest yesterday and have all the blocks finished and have started sewing the sashings. With any luck, I’ll finish the top today! I’ll probably lay out the Dogs and Sweaters and this one, sandwich and pin them and have them ready to start quilting. I also have bibs, burp cloths and receiving blankets to make as well as crochet a baby afghan before the April shower. As El says, “Pedal to the metal.”
Mary—know you will be having a fun trip! Hope the sun shines brightly and you enjoy your stay at the beach!
Becca—I’m still coveting that bread! At least that’s a better thing to covet than some things. I’d have to buy new clothes if she lived near me; breads are my weakness.
Irish—sounds like things are progressing with your move! Yes, we have had snow for St. Paddy’s day and Easter as well. It hasn’t happened in recent years, but I guess there is always that chance. Those boxes are great for moving! Don’t forget to eat!
Not much else is happening here. I’ll be walking dogs in muck and maybe rain, as this seems to be setting in for a few days. At least the temperatures should be around 60 much of the time. I’ll also be sewing!
With Mary off in no-wi-fi-land, I’m bringing out the big guns! We have been having fish, and now I’m thawing a package of liver for liver and onions tonight with broccoli and salad on the side. I’ll find some cookies and/or pudding for dessert. I’m sure this will be the same menu for several evenings as the package is “family” size!
Bon appétit!

Good morning everyone!
Mary is at the beach, wonder how her camping is going?
We had fog this morning after rain all day yesterday and a 20+ degree temperature drop.
I've been working on my Spring Swap blocks, only need the actual bee hive sewn down now.
Mary, Holly's new vehicle is white on the outside and a dark grey/ black on the inside.
Chickie, we've got mud everywhere too! Today is our guaranteed dry day for the week, I think it will be dry tomorrow too, 10% isn't much of a chance at all here.
Frankie has 12 days off work left till he retires again. His SS starts this month so we're both happy about that and the grands are too.
Tonight for supper I'm making hash from the leftover roast.
Tina

Good afternoon!
Just got home from the grocery run. Sarah went and helped. That is a big help, to haul it all in from the car and then downstairs. Costco was quite barren this morning - people and food. There was no turkey burger and very sparse selection of chicken. I have plenty, just wanted to replace what the kids took when they grocery shop in my pantry. Keeping my stock up in keeping two households going.
We are rebels aren't we - Mary is not gone 24 hours and out comes all the good stuff! Sarah found a very nice fillet of salmon, so we split it between us,so that will be dinner at her house too. Ethan loves salmon.
So now I must go downstairs, put the freezer stuff away and then play. The dry goods will wait, until I am in the mood! LOL!
Chickie - the sun is coming - if I hung things out in the wind here in Herriman, it could be folded and put way at Mary's house!
Tina - yeah for Frankie! I have been trying to get Michael to start colecting his SS pension, but he hasn't yet. We have reach the max age to add to it, so why not get that as well. He is still stalling! So happy about Holly's new car. That is what Kate and Aaron have too. Just older.
Becca - the man cave around here is a shared space, so I am in charge of keeping it starightened up.
Well, better get stuff out of my hair,
Hugs,
Jana

Becca, hash was always a favorite of mine too growing up ❤Mom's due made the best stuff huh ❤
Jana, for sure Michael should start drawing SS, tell him if he doesn't want to use it that you'd be more than happy to have it as a quilt fund ❤
It's been a beautiful day here.

Pizza was the dinner fare at our house tonight.
I need to make a trip over to the gas station and fill up my car before going to bed. Otherwise I will have to stop on the way to work in the morning.
Jana remind Michael that if he doesn't take his SS the year he is eligible for full retirement, he gets penalized. That happened to both Randy and my sister, Alice.

We will get penalized no matter what we do - our main pension pays over the SS max - so they start to deduct from what you will receive - ours will be a very small amount - maybe enough to cover the medicare - what is left will be a extra play fund. We haven't been covered under SS for many years as a public employee - but still - money is money!!!
Just got word that Kate got a new job Less stressful! She will be working for a city, here in the south end of the valley, in the Parks and Rec department - full time - benefits and a huge pay raise from what the EMT - Fire Department was paying her. Double the hourly rate of pay. That is such a blessing for those kids - they have been struggling since they were married. Now things will be a bit easier for them. Also a Monday - Friday, 8-5 job. Makes it easier on Sarah as she does the day care for Gracie and Lila. EMT was a rotating schedule, which made it hard to plan things. A happy thing all around! One less worry of a child in a dangerous job for me!

Chickie, I had to laugh at the "Fish." I won't tell Mary you posted fish on your menu. lol
Jana, I haven't been grocery shopping in over a week. I won't even get near a Costco until all the hype blows over. Congratulations to Kate.
I don't know what to have for dinner. Maybe I'll go check out the freezer. I think there are some tamales in there. We shall see.
Have a lovely evening.

Re: Supper Club - Monday, March 9, 2020
It rained overnight here. We are really behind this year. I am hoping we get a Pineapple Express the rest of the month.
Jana - My DH turns 70 this month and I had to convince him to collect SS too. The rules have changed a bit though so we have a phone appointment on the 27th.
No tp in the stores here. Unfortunately, the meat market near me got a “B” from the health department and I am staying away till they improve. I buy ground turkey at the grocery store. I don’t have a Costco membership and the closest one is almost ten miles away.
I made soup on Sunday and it will be dinner tonight.
