SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:45 am

Good morning,

We are dry today - AGAIN! That's two days in a row. No rain predicted until Thursday so I'm happy! Yesterday I finished cutting the pieces for all the blocks (7) to my Main Street quilt. Whew! Took a total of about 12 hours over two days. And such a mess in my sewing room!! So many different fabrics! and they are all now in piles and heaps everywhere with tiny scraps and sliver trims littering the floor! Today I'll cut the last of the pieces - lamp posts, trees, white picket fences, etc. as long as the fabrics are out and handy. These pieces all tie the quilt together. This project should keep me off the streets and out of the bars for a while. When it's all finally done, there is still a fancy border to piece.

BECCA - I think weather is changing everywhere! It sure is here! Were you able to get in your walk or was it too icy? I usually take weekends off my walking, but I'll be out there on the trail this morning as soon as I finish this post. But bundled up - it's 36*.

JANA - I remember when Prell came on the market. They used to drop a pearl into it on the commercials to show how thick and luxurious it was. Breck was a treat at our house, too. Not sure what our usual brand was. Sometimes, it was bargain bar soap!

TINA - what a busy weekend you had! But not a lot of cooking for you! I bet Joy itched you because of the lemon in it. There used to be a cheapie bar soap called "lemon soap" when I was a kid. You could buy 6 bars of it in a mesh bag for not much money. But boy, did it make me itch!

LORI - now I use Dawn dish soap. I like Ivory for my hands and for the smell, but it doesn't do the job that Dawn does. Even in this day of dishwashers we still have a lot of things I wash by hand. And yes, we have a lot of critters from Vicki's rats to coyotes here. And Scottie barks at them all! He even barks at lamps, his tail, and the dishrag hanging on the faucet, so you can imagine what all he can find to harass outside! lol!

IRISH - I know you are busy, busy this week and next! Have fun!

CHICKIE - I hope you haven't frozen solid and blown away!

I'm still trying to work out our supper plans. Maybe spaghetti. Haven't had that for a long while. Though Becca's black beans over rice is sounding good to me, too. So I guess I'll just wait to be surprised!

I hope your supper isn't too much of a surprise!

Good morning! We are dry and sunny for a bit. It’s still not warm—40s for high today. We had some rain yesterday, and I didn’t bother to get out of the house. I did laundry and put it in the dryer or hung it inside. Last week I hung it outside in almost 70 degrees!

Ladies—I HATE Ivory soap!!! My mom washed my mouth out with a bar of it when I was three years old and was repeating the colorful language the elevator repairmen in our apartment building were using. I loved how their words echoed up and down the elevator shaft, and I tried to replicate it at the top of my lungs. To this day, I cannot smell it or my mouth almost starts foaming as the taste returns. Aaaak!!! My mom still used Ivory soap bars, and it always brought back the memories and the taste.
We used Halo shampoo when I was very young. I still remember the “Halo, everybody, halo” jingle from the radio.

Mary—I remember the lemon soap in the bags. I don’t remember we ever used it. Your Scottie is much like my Hoolgans with their barking at everything whether real or imagined—all night long! I can generally sleep through it.

Becca—hope you dry out soon there! I use Dawn as well. It just works. Period.

DH is back from coffee for brunch. Time to get busy. Dinner will probably be whatever leftovers I can find in the fridge.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

When Aaron was in training with the Sherriff's office in California, he had to be pepper sprayed, in the eyes. Oh that hurts, but to remove the spray, they put Johnson and Johnson's baby shampoo directly on the eyeball. So that smell triggers the memory of that experience when he smells babies!

Not much here. If I find some ambition we need to get groceries, minimum at least milk and eggs. As my brother would say, not in the mood. Rather sew!

Dinner - soup and a sandwich.

Mary - that village quilt will be beautiful! Those many hours cutting it out! Must have many itty bitty pieces!

Becca - Denise is a blessing! Much like my Sarah.

Chickie - we haven't seen 70 since late last summer. A balmy day here is in the 40's, we think it is a heat wave!

Time to get doing, something!

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi everyone!
I'm running late..... again. Think I'll change my name to Tardy instead of Tina 😂🤣
My little cousin is doing great on her post cards and has till the end of this month to get these states: Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, and Oklahoma and Vermont. Does anyone know anyone in these states that could send her out a post card as soon as possible?
I had an R&R day today, just too wiped out from the weekend.
Tonight for supper is Chile rellenos and not sure what else. I just know I need to use some cheese up and thought that would be perfect...... granite thought so too LOL
Tardy Tina signing out 😉
