SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 03, 2020 5:51 am

Good morning.

We've got rain and more rain this morning, but we're to be in the mid-50's later today. We put the trailer into the new shelter yesterday and now the truck is back in the shop. Bill is smiling! It hurt him to have both the trailer and the truck out in the weather this past month. I got about 80% of Christmas packed away yesterday and will do the rest today. My sewing room is all clean and tidy. It looks awful! Nothing in progress in there! We do have a package to pick up at our mailbox at the UPS store, though. Maybe that's the new pattern I ordered.

BECCA - for New Years we had ham, white beans, and cornbread. No greens. I hope we get at least semi-good luck! lol! How is your sweetie doing after all the holiday hubbub?

JANA - I hear Stu is getting his own place! Good for him! An apartment? On his own or with a roommate? He's really growing up! I remember his 12th birthday!

CHICKIE - sounds like you are ready to greet the new year! I like the idea of sampler quilting! I've seen it used many times to very attractive effects! I didn't know about cornbread, either, but a couple we met this weekend is from TN an they told us about it. And since black-eyed peas aren't very prevalent here, I subbed in white beans (Great Northern, I think) and if we have bad luck this year, then that will probably be the reason. Gotta have something to blame it on! Here in the PNW, we have no New Year's superstitions/traditions so we have to steal from the south. That is funnysad about the watch . . . My brother says he is seeing a lot of that type of behavior/activity these days with his wife.

TINA - so how did the WM service work out for you? I've never tried it and kind of like to choose my own stuff. But the few folks I know who have done it say they get beautiful produce and their order is purrfect. Curious to see how your experience goes.

I think I might do something in the crockpot for tonite. Maybe with chicken and rice. I have veggies I can add, roast, or eat raw. Will see how I feel when I get to percolating for the day!

And you?

Good morning!
Mary, I bet your 5er and truck are smiling too 😊
It was kinda strange just going to pick up my groceries LOL it was pretty nice though. They got everything right.... I'm the one that ordered the wrong OJ LOL it will be drunk though. If I were buying produce or something like that I'd go pick my own though. I know they get handled for harvesting, packing and stocking but I'm just weird and don't want people touching it LOL I tell you I'm weird.
Today is baking banana nut bread, my bananas are too ripe to eat that I bought before Christmas.... it took them forever to ripen! I'll give the loaves away as a late Christmas present which is what they were intended for in the first place.
I have to check and see if the furrkids go today or tomorrow for their spa day.
I think I'll sew today too.
For supper it's leftovers, whatever is in the fridge.
Tina

Good morning! We are sunny and will be in the low 50s or upper 40s today. I hope the wind isn’t as bad as it has been! Almost 20mph winds make walking difficult. At least it’s not raining
yet. I think it’s been in the forecast.

I’m still quilting on my sister-in-law’s wall quilt. I’m really loving it! I still have some more “feathery” areas to do, then I’ll switch to ruler work. It’s a learning piece for me, to be sure!

DH and I still laugh about the watch. Thankfully it wasn’t an expensive watch or an heirloom, although MIL tried to make us think it was. She had lots of hallucinations—all of which were friendly—and we just laughed and went with the flow. It is sad to see someone overtaken by dementia, but through it all, we had to find the funny things and laugh it off. There was also a lot of frustration.

Ava’s mom has used the grocery pick up after work, and she has had good results.

I’m back to sewing today after brunch. Dinner will be—what else?—leftovers. Other than reservations, leftovers are my favorite things to make for dinner!

Bon appétit!

Our decorations and tree are still up. I will probably take down this weekend.
I had an eye appointment yesterday and didn’t get much quilting done. Today bathrooms get cleaned, a couple loads of laundry and some exercise and then quilting.
MaryZ - I am working on the quilt I made with a BOM for Eleanor’s 40th Anniversary last year. I posted a picture in that thread if you can find it in Swaps.

Good morning!

Been a busy little bee this morning. Have laundry going and the kitchen is under control. I need to clear off the dining table, so Michael can mess it up. He is searching for papers with notes that he keeps. In a way, this is a good thing, he "says" he will throw away what is no longer needed. I can only hope.

Sarah and Ethan will be here today. Yesterday we got some fabrics and a bundle of fat half cuts. Riley Blake fabric to Lori Holt's vintage farm quilt. We have both books to pick blocks from. The bundles were on sale. Also some other fabrics as well. I also finished Tanner's quilt and a monthly wall hanging.

I have a well loved pin cushion that has finally wore out after about 35 years of service. It was a cat in a basket. So Sarah and I are copying it, only we could not find a right size basket, but she found a right size metal claw foot bathtub. The last cat was a green dot fabric, this one is red. It should be done today. The original pin cushion, the fabric was just disintergrating from pins being taken in and out.

Dinner - a chicken and rice cassarole. I am going to try very hard to make it small, never works, but will try!

Mary - did the rhodie grow around the lights? Hope your pattern is there today.

Tina - all of our grocery stores have that shop for you service here. I am with you about picking out my produce. Pre packaged for them to gather is fine with me.

Chickie - love feathers! It is windy here too.

Well, need to change laundry and start the dishwasher, then I can play,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning ladies.
Rather chilly this morning, Chickie, did you get any of that snow last week? My sisters are hating it, for sure.
I have all my Christmas down, packed and put away, except for two totes at the top of the stairs. They are DH's Christmas hats. Years ago, he started wearing them at his work, starting the day after Thanksgiving, and his collection has really grown. The residents where he works really enjoys them, a lot of them seek him out daily, to see what he is wearing, and when he talks with new residents, a lot of them will ask him about it, as others have told them he does it. He really enjoys it.
Tina, my BFF used that service last year, when she was sick....she said the same as you, although it was nice, she didn't want to have extra people handling her fruits and veggies. I did remind her that other folks pick through them while shopping and she told me to go home....lol.....
I don't know about the different stages of dementia, just that JR told me a few years ago that his dad had been in the start of it, and through the years, it is definitely more noticeable. He has good/bad days, but mostly bad now, as far as remembering. We notice a few things he is doing that seem to be really weird, but as of now, his mom doesn't want extra help.
I remember when our Alex moved to town, completely on his own. He has done really well, and he seems to have a lot of different ideas on how to live is concerned. Guess he is growing up, for sure....
Well, tonight, I think we will just have burgers and fries, and maybe a salad. I will check with JR here in a bit, he may opt for soup of some sort. He fell down a little hill in the back yard on New Years day, but didn't want to go into the hospital for x-rays. We went yesterday, and he has a bad sprain, and pulled muscles....Ice is his friend, although, he seems much better today. They thought he could try to go to work on Monday, but at the time, I did not think that would be happening, but maybe after a couple more days, it will be happening.....Keep your fingers crossed!
Have a great day....Becky
