SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Dec 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Dec 08, 2019 5:57 am

Good morning!

Our pork roast supper last night was delish! I browned it and popped it into the crockpot so I had the oven free for cookies, rolls, asparagus bundles, and mashed potatoes. I also made applesauce, salad, and tapioca pudding. The cookies were sort of a shortbread but with no sugar in them. I separated the dough into 8ths, rolled each out in 10" circle, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and ground walnuts, cut them pizza style and rolled them up like crescent rolls. Baked them, then dusted with powdered sugar. They look awesome, taste fine. But probably won't become my favorite cookie.

Our friends, Tex & Annette, seemed to like almost everything. Turns out Tex is not a tapioca fan, but he got it down. :D Annette is a travel agent and has been trying to get us to go on a cruise for probably 20 years, but it's never sounded attractive to us. Neither of us are into boats or water. However, Bill is inheriting a little $$ from his Uncle Ernie and we decided to use that to take our family of 10 on an Alaskan cruise next August. So it was kind of fun to flabbergast Annette last night to tell her what we were planning. She is going to act as our agent and will find the best deal for us. We told the kids on Thanksgiving we wanted to do this. They all seem OK with the plan! :D

As for today, since we just had company, the house is clean, the laundry is done, and the fridge is full of leftovers once again. So we have a free day to play! I can head into my sewing room with my audio book, (Six Cats A-Slaying by Miranda James, if you must know) and sew my heart out. I have 14 FGV blocks left to do.

TINA - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!! I hope everyone is well enough, including yourself, to treat you like the queen you are! May your day is filled to the max with fun and suprises!

ROSEBUD - pizza sounds like the purrfect supper after a long day at work! Thanks for thinking of us and stopping by the table.

CHICKIE - glad to hear everything - well, almost everything anyway - went so well! I hope after this week of details your life will return to whatever normal you wish it to be. Maybe you'll even get to do some Christmas sewing . . .?

BECCA - Glad you got your walk in. Wish you were here and we could do a walk together sometime. Nice to face-time with family and catch up. How is your little Gr Grand with the broken arm? Any twin news?

JANA - Ahhhh - the joys of having little ones around. Do you cover your machines when not in use? I usually don't because mine is always in use, but if I had little ones around, I probably would. How goes the wardrobe assembling?

CAROLE with an 'e' - I saw you were lurking this morning - (Moderators get to see all. :D ). How are things at your house? Or at least in your kitchen and sewing room? What are your CHristmas plans.

Supper tonite will be identical to supper last night. I think the gravy I made was the best part, which is saying a lot given my history with gravy. I browned chopped onions, garlic, and about 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes, then dumped in a can of whole berry cranberry sauce. Mixed well, poured over the roast in the crockpot and let it cook. Later, removed the roast, strained everything, thickened the liquid and YUM! It was a little sweet, a little savory, and had a little kick.

What's putting the kick into your supper tonite?

Good morning!
Mary, thank you ❤
An Alaskan cruise, awesome! That's 1 thing on my to do list! Your supper and repeats sound so yummy!
The house is pretty much done inside! Woohoo! I'll take pics and post as soon as I can. I decorate the living, dining, den, 2 bed rooms, porch and a couple things in the front bathroom. Frankie and Kevin decorate the outside. When Rosie was a puppy we had to move all my outside lawn decorations to the backyard (first time ever and I've had lots of puppies). She was a very naughty puppy but only the 1 year. I can't figure why it looks like I have easy more this year than last, strange. I have everything the same except I moved my elves because I got 5 new precious moments angels this year. I think it's because my 3 houseplants are so big we couldn't move them very much this year.
Kevin, Maria and Matthew are coming today. Holly and the kids and Dad too. We're all going out for supper tonight so Yay me I don't have to cook!

A big happy birthday to Miss Tina! Hope you have a wonderful day.
A cruise for you Miss Mary? Sounds awesome....I think I would like that, minus the family ...Ha, just kidding!
We are staying so busy. Told JR that I may have to get a job to get some rest....my goodness, I don't even have enough time to pat my machine and tell it hi......maybe after the first of the year.....
Our dinner tonight, we are having dinner with one of my family of cousins.....they have what they call Thankmus every year, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, everyone brings a dish or two, and one cousin roasts a brisket and ham, another does a turkey. There are 8 of those kids, and a couple generations too, so turns out to be close to 75....not as many as Judi's family of cousins, but a lot.....so, that is our day, I am making a pot of chicken and noodles, and already made a couple pies and a cheeseball. May make a Mexican dip yet, but will see if I run out of time...we need to be there by 2-ish....Have a great day....Becky

Happy Birthday Tina! Have a great day celebrating and dinner out too!

We just got home from a white knuckle drive to hear Kate and Sarah. Beautiful is a understatement on how well they did. It was snowing hard and we were out before the plows. While we were in church, I heard the plow go by and so the drive home was much easier.

We go out again in a few minutes for our Ward meetings.

Mary - oh what fun! A cruise on the inside passage. On my list of something I would love, but alas, Michael was in the Navy, on a ship, so he says he has been at sea, whats the big deal, he done it already! I just keep hoping. You will have so much fun!

Becca - hush- sitting outside and 50 degrees! Would you like some snow, I have plenty and am willing to share.

Dinner is noodles. All the kids have called to check in on what time is dinner. This is one thing they all love and only miss if there is a big emergency! I can guarantee there will be no leftovers!

Time to leave again,

Enjoy,
Jana
