SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jul 13, 2019 11:27 pm

Good morning!

I was in the back yard yesterday and found my little hydrangea plant in full bloom! And it's a BOY! That means it's blue. I had no idea what color it would be when I planted it 2 yrs ago. I was afraid our big snow last Feb might have done it in, but it's thriving better than ever now. And on Tuesday I'm going to take a blue bouquet to my mom for her 103rd birthday.

I got the trailer halfway cleaned but think I'll take a break today. I've been emptying all the cupboards, rearranging, purging, and restocking. 6 weeks of living mostly in woodsy wilderness with 2 pink people and 2 long-haired 'people' can really do a number on a "tiny house". The earthquake we just had, whether we felt it or not, is a timely reminder that our trailer is our disaster kit and to restock with enough food, water, clothes for at least 5 days.

JANA - If I got into model railroads, I would be ALL IN! They fascinate me! I would have them all over the house, going through tunnels in the walls. Probably it would be the scenery that would draw me more than the trains though. (sorry, Michael!). Your house will be awesome to behold come Christmas! We have friends here who get out a fairly extensive RR and town to go with and it takes up their entire family room.

CHICKIE - if you slept 3 solid hours and your mom was no worse for it (in fact, probably better in the long run because you were better rested!) then I say if you missed a call from her, it was all to the good. When is your next 'day off'? And only 5 more days to go. I think you can. I think you can.

BECCA - I'm so happy to hear the party was such a success! And your hubby enjoyed it. and that he's recovered enough to enjoy a visit from more family!

We did go shopping yesterday - Costco and Albertson's. We have all the makings for big green salads. and to go with, we'll have grilled pork chops and potatoes. We still have several packets of instant mashed left from our trip so that will probably be what rounds out our menu.

What's your supper story?

Good morning!

Mary - oh yes, the railroad goes through the walls here! In the utility room, the Batt Cave outhouse and under the staircase! There is currently small holes, tunnels, in all of them! I had to argue hard to keep a track from running through my sewing area!

The family will be here tonight for cake and ice cream. I cheated and bought one from Costco. Too hot to heat up the kitchen. Found a badmitton set there as well for the kids to learn to play. Batting around that bird is safer for my windows than a baseball. I will have the little girls tomorrow. Kate brings them over in the morning and around 2:30 in the afternoin I take them home to Aaron. He clocks in and out in his driveway, and is off work then. He is not allowed by job rules to take anyone in his work truck. The kids only have one car, which Kate has.

Dinner is fend for yourself, there is plenty of leftovers to eat.

Enjoy!
Jana

Maryz, I was browsing through all the threads waiting for my download to finish. Decided to pop in.

Hydrangeas bloom a certain color depending on the soil content. Some are blue, some will be a bright pink, and some will be white.

I bet you already knew that!

I have to share a dinner menu Laugh of the Day: I bought a box of Hamburger Helper last week at the grocery. Dick and I both love the cheesy hashbrown one.

So if I fix that for a meal, we will always have a second meal of leftovers. I was planning for the leftovers for a dance night.

I got out my ground turkey and was browning it when, I decided I better get my box down out of the cupboard. Well low and behold, I didn't have Cheesy Hashbrowns after all. Nope..... I had Chicken Stir Fry. Oops! Well, too late, I had the ground turkey all ready to go, so I decided this will be an experiment. Well... it actually was pretty good!!! Might have been better with chunks of white meat chicken, but we liked it enough, so next time I might buy again and just buy come ground chicken and try that.

But all in all it made a great meal. We had our usual salad and fruit cup with it. In fact, that is just what we are having tonight.
I am already getting hungry.... Hope this computer gets finished soon.

Happy eating!!!!

Velda

HUGS, 💕 Vel
