SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 22nd
Good morning,
We had a good day yesterday. We accomplished everything on our to-do list and more. We went to Tacoma and I had a very unusual experience - since were near DOL and had extra time I decided to renew my drivers license instead of waiting 9 months. No waiting!!! they called my number even as it was handed to me. I was in and out in 10 minutes! Ditto when we went to election headquarters to straighten out my voters registration (which got messed up when they switched systems). And we hit green lights all the way home! I should have bought a lottery ticket!! As to sewing, I still had some extra time so I put my tea party blocks together. I'll sew on borders today.
JANA - I'm going to have to remind Bill about that recipe! It's starting to ring a bell now. He doesn't cook for just me - we have to have a fun crowd. Maybe I can invite the campground over for dessert when we are camped in B.C.! Glad you found your tags!
CHICKIE - I hope your rain stops soon! If it's flooded your firepit, then it's creeping up hill toward your house!! Glad you are going to have a lttle bit of help while staying with Mom. And I'm REALLY glad that you found a little bit of time in your sewing room! so nice that your friend is helping with your genealogy! It's so fun to find those missing links!!
IRISH - so happy to have you back in the fold! You're right - life won't be quite the same ever again. But what a joy and a blessing Cindy was in your family!! I hope that brings you all a little comfort. Sounds like you will be getting to see a lot of Kathy and Tim this summer! Something to look forward to! Is it Jackie that's getting married?
BECCA - 92 degrees! And Sharona has 10" of snow. Mother Nature is surely going through the change! Do you have A/C or fans in your house? Sounds like your DH may need to be cooled off.
Tonite we're going to have chicken. Going to try the recipe that came with the jar of Grey Poupon. It sounds delicious!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 22nd
Good morning! We had sun earlier, but thunderstorms are back in the forecast for this afternoon.
The pond was as full as we have ever seen. No worries about our house! The pond filled and ran around the dam at the side by the house. It also ran OVER the dam in several areas—we’ve never seen that happen before! But, all is good. We are just so sodden everywhere. I put on my mud boots and walked to take care of Choc and Ava yesterday. The road is squishy and was puddle filled. Yes, the Hooligans have had a blast! Actually, I felt like a kid as I splashed in the puddles in my big black rubber boots.
I have the sheets and spread in the laundry. Don’t think I’ll be hanging anything out today! Actually, forecast is for most of the week to have possible storms. I need to check with my sister and see when she wants me to come in to help with Mom.
No sewing yesterday. I read some, and we went around the farm looking at all the water. The dry creeks were running bank full, plus, with the runoff from the land and overflow of the ponds. The waterfalls were flowing and beautiful. They are only wet weather falls. Everything certainly is lush, green and sparkly.
Irish—so good to see you back! Hugs, my friend!
Mary—yesterday I took a page from your book and threw all the leftovers together. I made stuffed poblano peppers using the leftover rice, beans, pulled pork and added cheese and salsa. Threw it all in the crock pot. It came out wonderfully! DH said it was the best Mexican food he’d had in recent weeks. That was a funny, as we had been out twice to Mexican restaurants with friends who picked the place. DH practically has to be dragged kicking and screaming for Mexican food. But, I’m slowly converting him and showing him what he might like. He’s always surprised when he likes something. What a funny guy!
And, tonight, there is just enough for each of us to have a bit plus a salad.
Bon appétit, All!

Good morning!
Another cold, cloudy, rainy day here. I will bet that there has been more cloudy days than sunny ones this year! There was even a dusting of snow at Sarah's yesterday. Her house is higher in elevation than I am, but not by much.
Michael has been researching a new tankless water heater. It is nice to be right once in awhile. The discussion was on how to measure the temperature of the cold water coming into the house. He was complaining he had no instrument to do that. I chimed in that I did. My instant read thermometer - well it worked! We now have the info he needs to see how much, how fast it will heat.
Dinner - a ribeye and salad.
Heading to the Batt Cave -working on all the little pieces parts to my Santa for Tina's swap. There are 3 stars on each, as well as the stripes on a candy cane, his face, hat and more, times 20! Need to get my scissors cutting.
Mary - that was your lucky day! Our DMV is quick too. Not like in California, you make an appointment online, weeks in advance, then show up and take a number to wait for a couple of hours! Sheesh!
Chickie - that is a lot of water! Glad that you are high and dry!
Irish - so glad to see you. It will be a busy summer, especially with Kathy coming in quite often, but oh so fun!
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 22nd
Good afternoon from sunny, getting warmer, SW. Pa...It is hard to believe the different temps in the parts of this big old country...I was talking to Stephan in Kansas, worried about the flooding but he's high enough and doesn't have to worry...But, did ask about a basement and said, the new house has one, thank goodness...Although I'd love to see them, just don't want them being blown this way....
Mary, you are never for a lack of things to do or put together...What's that saying about giving a man a fish....Well, give Mary a piece of fabric and before long, she'll have a quilt and just not an ordinary quilt....
You are right about life not being the same...I keep waiting for my daily phone call and then wonder what she's doing...Can't seem to grasp the fact, that phone call won't be coming....
Yes, this is Jackie that is getting married in July...She's our teacher/traveler...She and Steve have been to almost all the continents...This will be the wedding at the Lehigh County Zoo, or as she puts it, very casual, flip flops and shorts...But, she is wearing a long dress and having a penguin walk down the aisle.....Something to look forward too......
Chickie, Along with Stephan, I've been thinking of you...With all this nasty weather and also taking care of your Mom, you really do have a plate full....Water too much or too little can be terrible but as you said, when you see all the waterfalls and all the green, there is lots of beauty....As I asked Stephan, do you have a storm cellar???
Please be careful, my friend.....
Jana, Yikes, a dusting of snow! Hopefully, that nasty weather will leave and you'll be back in sunshine and spring/summer soon....Is Michael thinking of getting one of those water heaters? I didn't even think about it when I got mine but I have heard pros and cons..But, I'm sure, Michael would know what he's doing....It will be a busy summer, many trips back and forth to the airport..Ruby has it down pat! I have a feeling, after Kathy retires, they'll be looking for a place, maybe close to Lena...She had said, she'd like to be in Reno for the winter and back here for summer...Sounds good to me!
This morning, I finished quilting the cross stitched afghan Cindy had made for the new baby...It took me most of the morning, kind of hard to see through tears..But, it's done, ready for the shower on the 15th...
I talked to Kevin last night, said he and the boys are managing...Just going through all the mail he gets every day is a job...I think he was very taken aback with all the people who came to visit....
Yesterday, I did go to HomeDepot, filled the car with bags of mulch, top soil, plants and then wondered how in the world would I ever empty it...But, did some planting and today, I'm going to a Greenhouse and getting stuff for Jim and Cindy's graves...I didn't realize this is Memorial Day weekend, thought I had another week...And Scout is coming for the weekend so BabyGirl and I will have a house guest.....
Not really planning anything for dinner....I'm back to really watching what I eat so we'll see...
You all have a great day......
Happy eating..............
