SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 13, 2019 3:21 am

Good morning!

We've really cooled off here from our 80's of last week! OK by me, though! It was sweaty hot! Yesterday I finished the project I was doing from my Hoffman Digital Fox panel. I made some blocks to add to the panel, two borders, and 'wah-lah'! It's a quilt top! Bill is going to quilt it for our good friends for their new Arctic Fox trailer.

I see that Tina has the annual Christmas swap up and running. I LOVE Christmas and couldn't wait to sign up. So today I'm going to get going on blocks for that. It would be nice if I could get my blocks done before leaving for Alaska but that might be a real stretch. I may have to take them on the road and mail them from North Pole.

LORI - when you get your black/bright/modern border worked out, I really want to see it! I did mine simple - black fabric with brightly colored circles of varying sizes.

BECCA - I'm with you on big cities! I like living within 50 miles of Seattle in case we ever need the excellent medical facilities there, but otherwise, give me rural living! My Lara can't wait to get back to Washington, D.C. and live in an apartment! Hard to believe she's my daughter, sometimes.

JANA - sorry your kids had to leave, but the consolation is that it's nice to be back to 'normal' again, I'm sure. Did you find your face for church yesterday? My face lives in the bathroom drawer. I gave up on 'pretty' decades ago and have settled on "not too scary".

CHICKIE - I know you were at graduations and parties for same yesterday, busy, busy, busy! How is Mom doing?

TINA - and you, also, had a houseful to cook for! I hope there's plenty of leftovers for today so no cooking!

Turned out when I finally remembered to get my pork chops out of the freezer yesterday, they were chicken breasts! Neither of us felt like cooking so we ended up with the last of the veggie beef soup and toast. So, tonite - chicken. Not sure yet how it will be cooked, but I'm leaning toward browning it and finishing it in the oven in a mushroom sauce. With rice, perhaps.

Good morning!

I have laundry going, dishes going and Michael is mowing the lawns. There is a good thing about all the dishes I have geen doing, all have gotten washed, not just the top two that I use everyday. :)

Dinner - still eating through leftovers.

Not much more here. Stu is still working and making progress on the swingset. A few more hours and he will be done.

Mary - no pretty faces in my drawers either. I grab things out of my freezer, thinking they are one thing, turning out to be another all the time. You certainly make fast work of any piece of fabric to turn it into a quilt!

Well, need to get up and get more things done.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning.

The boys have been walked. DH is off to play in a charity golf tournament, and I'm ready to sew. As I was cleaning up my quilting stuff yesterday, I found the beginnings of a table runner I was making. I think I will put that together today and also see if I can figure out the border on my black/bright/modern quilt.

Jana, sounds like life is getting back to normal for you.

Maryz, funny about the frozen meat. I don't freeze meat very often. Usually just if it's going to expire. I only buy a few things of chicken and maybe a package of ground beef each week. If we have steaks, I buy them from the butcher the day we eat them. Same with F**h.

Tonight with be homemade potato salad and BBQ chicken. Maybe a veggie if I find something fresh I feel like having.

Have a lovely day. Lori

Good late afternoon! It’s been a busy several days, but it seems like all my days are a blur any more. We attended graduation from community college Friday evening for one DGD. I made her a special big congratulations cookie. Her graduation kinda got lost with her little sister’s high school graduation bash. I worked ALL day Saturday on three graduation cakes—2 white and one chocolate (full half sheet sized) for DGD and DGS (cousins) and DGD’s boyfriend. I was one tired puppy that night. Sunday was graduation ceremony followed by the big party held at a shelter house at the lake (next door but 10 miles or so around to the other side). It was a good time with good food, friends and family. My DD and family were here yesterday, and my DD came over to visit Friday afternoon and helped me with the cookie. We had a good time!

Mom is pretty much the same. She is losing muscle mass and getting weaker as she prefers to sit or lay all the time. She requires full assistance getting up to sit, etc. She will probably never improve. I was in Thursday for bath, shampoo and a new perm that my sister and I gave her. I will be in all afternoon and evening to sit while my sister and her DH go to Joplin for afternoon and evening. Then I’ll be back again for bath on Thursday.

Mary—I love the farm, but there are times I miss the city and all it offers. I understand Lara’s thinking. I love Washington, DC. Wish I’d fallen in love with it when I was young and single and could work there. Maybe I can do it in my next life

Sorry this is short. I need to go retrieve my laundry from the lines, fold and put it away. I didn’t get any sewing time. We went to lunch with our hunter friends who are in the area to turkey hunt. I know they want me to make them breakfast, but I just can’t fit it in with the dog walking tomorrow morning and Mom on Wednesday.

Since we had lunch out, dinner will be some of the pulled pork from the party yesterday, baked sweet potato and salad.

Take care, everyone!

Hi everyone!! I'm still around! Did ya all think I fell off of the earth? I started being a Pampered Chef Consultant as a little side job but all the learning and virtual Facebook parties really had me swamped plus doing my tea party blocks and taking care of the boys. I ended up having several evenings that they stayed till 7 or so and then we had field trips and concerts, I was very popular for awhile LOL
I build got all had a.c. great Mother's Day yesterday!
I read Cindy G's post about a pall over Mother's day for her, I had to look up the meaning, it fits me too, it just doesn't have the same meaning for me now....but I try. Yesterday morning was all about cleaning and doing laundry and I cooked my own breakfast so nothing was different for me. Then DD called and between her and DS they had plans for me but they got messed up so we went to lunch with DD and the kids which I really enjoyed and then DS,, DDIL and Matthew came for the afternoon and DS cooked ribs on the grill, they were very yummy and I sent the leftovers home with him. So it was a good day but different.
Yep Mary, the Christmas block swap is up and running! It's different this year so you all might want to go check it out!

Dad is coming for supper today, I'm making Hillshire sausage stuff with rice and veggies.
I'll try to not be such a stranger.
I'm going to be making some light covers for Maria's BIL, he's a DJ and asked if I could make something. I had to finish my tea pots first.
