SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 8

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 07, 2019 10:21 pm

Good EARLY morning, (though it's more like happy LATE evening!)

We had another busy day. But what day isn't?? I cleaned, polished, swept, mopped, and scrubbed. Then I put binding on Gypsy Dancer. I so love that quilt! We sat out on the deck in the evening for a while and it got chilly. I snuggled up in my new quilt and was so cozy! I did finally get a picture posted in Photos.

Today will be busy again, too. Scottie and I start every week-day with a 2-mile walk with Lori & Duchess from across the road. After that comes chiropractor, post office, grocery store, and fetch the mail. Then home to make appetizers (fruit and veggie trays, poppers, and BBQ'd Smokies) for a little campfire gathering tonite. We are inviting our local friends to meet our Texas pals. Everyone will bring something. And it will be our supper. I think our Texas friends will leave tomorrow or, more likely, Friday.

We think Vicki's DD came and had a FIRM talk with her last Sunday. She was there for 2-1/2 hours, sitting on deck with Vicki. Didn't go out to breakfast like usual. Then Vicki spent Mon and Tues cleaning up all (well, most) of the things she has tossed out in her yard to form barriers. I don't know what Megan told her or how long it will last, but for now, it's nice.

IZZY - you get more done in a day, in the shape you are in, than I even think about! Thanks for the offer of your weedy flowerbeds but I have to decline on the grounds that I am declining. I like those tops with the built-in 'shelf'. So comfy in summer! I was wearing one today.

JANA - Lots going on at your house - cooking, eating, hugging, and wallpaper! Is Kate able to be with you much or is she with her family right now? Your wallhanging is really pretty! Is it hanged yet?

BECCA - you are right - everything looks so nice when mowed, whacked and weeded! It's just GETTING it mowed, whacked, and weeded all at the same time - and then keeping it that way. Impossible!

I already told you about our supper - snacks! Bill sent text invites to everyone - (3 couples) - to bring their favorite appetizer and OUR favorite wine! lol! It should be about 75* so purrfect for outdoor lawn/campfire party.

I hope conditions are purrfect for whatever you have planned for tonite!

Good afternoon! We have had storms and rain for several days. It’s WET! The pond is overflowing; well, ALL of our ponds are overflowing. The big one has a waterfall spillway that is beautiful now. With the Hooligans, our house is a muddy mess with me going around several times a day with cleaning supplies. Part of the time they are locked out until they dry off, if possible. If not, I meet them at the door with a towel.

Night before last, my sister had a lot of storm damage with cable, modems, electrical wiring, etc., all blown. Mom had a bad night, too. Storms have never bothered her, but they did Monday night.

I haven’t gotten much done around here other than walking dogs, cooking, cleaning, etc. I have three half sheet cakes to make for graduation party on Sunday. It will be a busy weekend!

Mary—hope the “talk” with Vicki lasts longer than a few days! I’m sure you are enjoying the quiet and clean up. You have busy days, too!

Jana—you are also busy! Glad you are finished with wallpapering! It’s such a job, and I always had to do it, too. When I lived in Missouri, the railroad ran right behind my house. I never tired of the trains.

Becca—it’s too wet to do much outside here. It needs to be done, and I must run out and get lettuce and radishes between showers this afternoon.

Izzy—Hope the soreness works out soon! I know you are wanting to be as busy as you used to be, but Girl, you NEED to slow down and heal!

I walked Ava today, and DGD-in-law texted me that she had chips, queso and salsa for us when I went down. We will have tacos for dinner! I just happen to have ground beef thawed as well as all the trimmings for tacos.

Bon appétit!

We are home - finally.

A fun side note to our trip. As we were parked on the side road next to the tracks, the freeway was on the far side of us - so us, the tracks, freeway. A couple of railfans were on the freeway and wanted to pull off onto the side of the freewsy to get some pictures. So they pulled off, opened the hood to look like they had car problems and had their camera out and ready. One problem, the UHP was not allowing that and Aaron saw what the drivers were trying to pull. So he notified his buddies on duty and all of a sudden, several troopers showed up and spoiled their escapade! Running them off very quickly.

With Aaron around, we knew where and what was going on all day. We took 4 vehicles and used cb type radios between all of us.

Just saw the pictures we took - lots of kids and a train! We had Tanner, Logan, Baden and Emma standing on their minivan roof to watch. I just smile and don't say much when I see things like that.

OK, enough of the train chronicles, I won't bore you with all the escapades that we did.

Thanks for reading!

Jana
