SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Mar 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 06, 2019 3:37 am

Good morning!

Well, everything I told you about my day yesterday turned out to be a pack of lies. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa. We didn't work in the yard after all. Neither of us could get warm even though the sun was shining and it was a balmy 48*. We went to Tacoma and I didn't buy the binding fabric that I went looking for at my favorite quilt shop because they were out. (though I learned a cool way to make binding even when you don't have enough fabric!) But there was a sign on the door announcing store is closing and everything in store is 30% off. Bill was with me, looked me in the eye and said, 'don't hold back'. This shops REGULAR prices are about 20% lower than other quilt shops, so this was quite a savings. So I ended up doing my major fabric shopping for the next few years. Shelves were already emptying so I went into panic-shopping mode. And I might go again . . The next lie I told y'all was about dinner. I didn't cook anything. I forgot we were going out Italian. Friends asked us to go to Il Lucano on half-price wine night. Well, heck, yeah!! So I had gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce and Bill had cappellini putanesca.

Today is forecast to be rainy, but it hasn't started yet. If it holds off, we will finish the last of the chainsaw work in the back yard and then remove one of the new tarps that we used in our RV shelter. After we got it up (no small feat, that!) Bill noticed it was damaged, so the company sent a replacement and it arrived yesterday. so now we have to take down the damaged one and hoist the new one up. Sigh. that is such a big, hard job. But if it does rain, then I'll put binding on my Sunbonnet Sue, play with my bow tie swap blocks, and noodle aaround some ideas for the new Tea Party Swap.

JANA - your 'cake' layer sounds awesome and fun and creative! so, are you planning to enlarge your deck or were you just talking about doing it to accommodate the patio set? You sure have a pretty view for dining 'al fresco'!

CHICKIE - is Odie (or somebuddy) allowed to go when you visit Gramma? I have plenty of handwork I can send you to take along on Mom days - pick your poison - yoyos, hexies, hand embroidery. Or I could start something new if you wish . . . ;o)

BECCA - That's such good news about your DGS coming to visit. Do you think you'll be having your joint birthday party while he is in town? And do you think his move to WA is a forever thing or will he ever move back to NC?

Tonite's supper is going to be baked chicken breasts. They are pre-seasoned (Chipoltle) from Costco. I'm going to fry sliced apple, diced sweet potato, and chopped onion together. And a salad on the side.

What tasty treat are you coming up with tonite?

Good morning! Getting ready to go to Joplin--dental cleaning and check up for me and errands and shopping for DH.

I haven't taken Odie to my sister's yet, but I may have to. The little goomer gets so distraught when I leave him any more. I may do a trial run this Friday on taking him. I can always put him outside in their fenced in yard.

Dinner tonight will be Chinese take home.

Bon appetit!

Good morning!

Mary - the deck enlargement has been planned since before we bought the house. The house came with the deck, but we assumed, silly us, that the deck would be ground level, not 5 feet off the ground! We thought we could do the addition, but where the builder set the house, we can't. Also, the vent for the gas fireplace was at a spot, that if the fireplace was on, you could burn yourself by accidently touching it. So when the house was built, we had the vent put up to the roof, and that took a chunk out of the deck. So after all this background info, we are having a contractor do all the work, just to add about 3 feet in width, and change the way the stairs are. Right now, there isn't enough room for a dining table, but will be. The table is the main priority. Dinner will be outside most of the time. The patio set may fit, but I have to wait for construction to be done. So sorry about the shop closing, but great prices on her fabrics to stock your shelves.

Dinner will be some kind of concoction of chicken thighs.

I did a couple more blocks yesterday and need to do 1 1/2 more blocks. Then I can start the blanket stitching and the couple of pieced blocks in the pattern. I also need to finish the baseball pants I am altering.

Raining here, all night. My snow is gone.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very cold, semi sunny, SW. Pa...Winter has returned but hopefully not stay too long....It's sure not welcome!

I'm back, been back since Sat. but have been sick...Not a good way to end what started out being a super week with Lena....I am just amazed at how 1 little girl can take completely take over your heart...Kathy was in heaven, I've never seen her so happy..Cari worked the 1st couple of days so that gave Kathy full reign over the cuddles...Cari's DH works from home and would sneak out of his office to try to join the fun...Kathy and I did meet up with Jackie and have dinner with her in Allentown...On the way back to Cari's, I stopped to pick up Allergy meds but by Wed. morning knew it wasn't allergies....So, for the rest of the week, I stayed in my bedroom, far away from everyone...All I wanted to do was sleep...And then hearing about the upcoming snow, Kathy checked on her Sun. flight and saw that it would be cancelled so she had to change and leave for Reno on Sat. Early Sat. morning, we made a dash for home, Dan, her Ds, took her to the airport...But, I know, she loved her time with Cari and Lena and that's what really counted.....
So, it's been an interesting week...I can't seem to kick the germ but I think, each day, am feeling a little stronger...It sure has been a way to get rid of extra pounds but I sure don't recommend it....My nurse, "BabyGirl" has been taking excellent care of me and all will be better soon......

Mary, sorry to hear your quilt shop is closing but also happy to hear you've gotten some bargains...Have a silly story to tell you...I did give the 2 books to my sister and of course told her all about the marker...Well, later, I'm trying to find that said marker and thought, did I leave it in one of those books and knowing my sister, she's not going to give it back, lol..She kept saying, she didn't have it and...... you're not going to believe this....I was returning a book to the Library, last book I had read, and before I took it out of the car to walk into the Library, looked through and sure enough, there was my book marker...I imagine the gals at my Library would have loved to have found it in the book!

I have been trying to go back and catch up with everyone....Feel so bad about Izzy and sure hope and pray for a very quick recovery....
Jana, loved the picture of the cake, absolutely gorgeous....
Becca. been thinking about you and hoping all is OK in your neck of the woods...
Chickie, oh my, you really do have a lot on your plate...Special thoughts for your Mom and also for you and your sister....

And with that, I'd better git! Not much is getting done in this household but right now, I really don't care, lol.....

This being Ash Wednesday, dinner might be "mac n cheese" or maybe just an egg......

You all have a good day............

Happy eating..................
