SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Jan 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Jan 10, 2019 1:01 am

Good morning!

Today is my baby, Autumn's 42nd birthday. She was born on my dad's 65th birthday! And when Aut was 8, a sheltie puppy, black and white like Scottie, was born. "Shamrock" was her name and she became my birthday gift 8 weeks later. So for several years we had quite the birthday party! Today we're driving into Austin and meeting Autumn & Aaron for lunch to celebrate.

Yesterday we went into the town of Bastrop. We've driving through it before over our years of coming to Texas, but never stopped. We found a cute little quilt shop = not a huge selection, but what they had was so pretty. Have to admit, I did a little damage to the checkbook. and I found a nice cream for the swap blocks.

IRISH - How is Tim doing? How scary! I've heard of some folks who still build up plaque in the arteries despite meds. I wonder if a different med would help or if he just has to be closely monitored. A new doc would be a good place to start. I know how you feel about being allowed to live in your house. We have the same 'staffing' issues here = "feed me!", "clear your lap!", "move over or get a bigger pillow!"..

CHICKIE - That #269 must be queen of the herd! she's a smartie pants cow! How did your dental appointment go? This lake is Bastrop Lake. the other Lake is on the west side of Austin (Autumn lives just above it on a hill), and it's called Lake Travis. Both are in a series of lakes on the Colorado River. Not THE Colorado. Texans are so proud they have to have their own Colorado River! lol!

JANA - You better get a wiggle on! St Pat's Day is only 9-1/2 weeks away! You're going to need that Skinny!

BECCA - we havent' heard from you for a while. Praying things are OK at your house.

Supper is still hanging fire here. We may have lunch leftovers. Or if we eat a big lunch, we may have only peanut butter sandwiches for supper. We'll see how it goes . . .

Good morning! We are much cooler today! It’s freezing now, but going to mid 40s. There will be a wind chill, so will button up, hat up, scarf up when we go walk Ava. Her dad is much better and back to work today. Tomorrow and Saturday will have frozen and freezing precipitation.

Irish—My cholesterol readings are always high despite watching my diet. DH used to have amazing readings with a lousy diet. It’s crazy! I sure hope Tim will get some good help!!! Glad he has a good heart to deal with all this other stuff! What a special surprise to find the quilts made by your grandfather! That is unusual that a man made them that long ago—great use of “mending” time! Summer quilts used to be made without batting. I’ve had chiles relleños made with bell peppers, and they are not hot… just sayin’… if you can eat bell peppers. I like the ancho peppers and don’t find them to be too hot for my tastes. Yes, #269 is a sly gal with her secrets! Chinese was awesome, and we have leftovers!!!

Mary—happy birthday to Autumn! Enjoy your lunch! I’m glad you found SOME fabric! Would hate to hear you ran out before you got back home! Dental appt was disappointing. He couldn’t get the plate tightened as much as I’d like. I want to eat apples again! It may not happen. I got my goods and a few more things at the health food/Oriental store. I do love that place!!!

I had a LOT of help with yoga this morning! Boomer started with sphinx pose, and when I got on the mat he showed me downward dog, lick Mom’s face, sniff Mom, make her pet me… and then Tinker Bell joined in. There was a lot of pushing and shoving for attention before I finally got the mats to myself! Never a dull moment here!

DH should be here in a few. I need to get brunch made. I’ll be in my sewing room all afternoon except when walking Ava.

Dinner tonight—leftovers!!! My favorite thing to make next to reservations… Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from wintery, blustery, snow covered (just a covering), cold, SW. Pa.....Just the other day, it was spring, then it stormed, even had a tornado hit near by, then it rained some more, turned colder and now winter is upon us....In just a few weeks, I'll be headed south again and hoping it warms up down there.....
Just looked out the kitchen window and it's feeding time or should I say, frenzy time at the feeder...Funny Jake is afraid to come out of his cat house when this happens, lol...

Mary, sounds like your day is going to be a good one..And also glad you found that little quilt shop....Today really holds a lot of good memories for you, doesn't it.....Tim came home from the hospital yesterday, with new meds and appointments...He'll probably have to be one of those who has to be monitored often, which most men just love!
He is to see the doc next week and maybe get the OK for a cruise they have scheduled in 2 weeks.....

Chickie, My numbers always ran high and Jim's were perfect...I often think, if it hadn't been for Jim's dementia, he would have lived forever...He had bouts with the nasty skin cancer but his numbers, everything was perfect....
Now you have me thinking, I can eat bell peppers, if cooked....Might just have to give the rellones a try.....Had to laugh at the "help" you had in doing your yoga...This happens to me when I sit down to do my embroidery or cross stitch...AND then when I get in bed and think I'm going to read..It usually takes about 15 minutes for me to convince BabyGirl she doesn't have to lay on my chest or do I need all those smooches, we have a big bed! But, what would we do without them?

Becca, We're worried, hope everything is OK.....

Not sure what I'm going to get into today...Other than going out to feed Jake and put the garbage out, I'm staying inside...Even Jake wanted breakfast in bed this morning, lol....

Tonight might be another soup and sandwich night, but who knows.....Also could be a poached egg....Will be cooking chicken for the cats so might even be chicken...Oh the possibilities........

You all have a great day........

Happy eating............

Good afternoon!

Finally got down to the Batt Cave to goof off! Those skinnies don't take me long - they are really simple and seem to dress up spots in the house. Michael seems to like them on the landing between the main floor and the Batt Cave. I put many of them there for Christmas and when I put that all away, he asked if I had more to hang there. Working on that!

Making a new tote from a pattern I got yesterday. Very Springy - the fabric is a gingham red and white check with small flowers on it and the other piece to coordinate is a blue looking denim. It will be more purse like than my other totes. Making a few changes in the pocket that is with this bag as I want a secure place that my phone will be and not fall out.

Dinner is take out as it is class tonight.

Well, Michael is off running to get the paper and milk, so I had better get going before he gets back and finds something he wants me to do.

Enjoy!
