SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Oct 16

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Oct 16, 2018 3:12 am

Good morning,

Today is my grandmother's birthday. She died 10 years before I was born and I think she would be about 142 yrs old now. But I'm named after her and so I always feel a connection and remember her birthday.

Yesterday we ended up cleaning the storage bins in our trailer and then we packed it full of things going to Autumn and to friends along our route to Texas. We're making progress! Thank goodness for the streak of warm, sunny weather we're having. Nice to be outside and there are more outdoor chores to be done yet. Bill also got most of our reservations made for Texas. We plan to arrive in Georgetown Nov 17 and leave Jan 11. The only two nights we don't have covered now is Nov 22nd and 23rd. Not sure what we're going to do those days. Our campground is full up, or so says the website.

This morning will be dental appointments for us both, then I need to wrap Christmas presents for the local kids and grands for our gathering on Oct 28. I'm also preparing a new Christmas cross-stitch project to take south with me as well as a few other handwork projects - embroidered state birds blocks, hexies, and yo-yo's. About the only thing I don't do is anything with yarn. I'm also taking my Gypsy Wife II, Farm Girl Vintage II, a couple of kits I inherited, and maybe I'll pick up something new in Texas. There are LQS's there, too, and I have all their punch cards. Maybe I've spent enough by now to earn a free yard of fabric at one of them.

CHICKIE - seems two weeks ago you were sweltering and now you're freezing. No pleasing you, is there! lol! Your mints are beautiful! I think you need to post a photo here so everyone can see your hard work! I'm excited for your mom and her party! You are such a loving and giving daughter! Maybe one day Doyle will figure the water issue out. But, sorry to say, probably not.

SHIRLEY MAE - that snowstorm hit my sister in Longmont, CO, too. Was dismaying to us as we've been hoping to visit them on our way to TX. But, who knows - it may be 70* and sunny by the time we get there. I was thinking it was your AZ kids that were coming to visit, but it's the ones from NOLA, I see. That will be a real boost to you both, I'm sure.

BECCA - yes, for a 30' fifth-wheel, we have tons of storage. And I AM a good packer! It's when we get to our destination and start getting things out to use that everything sort of explodes and then it's hard to put it all away again! lol! But almost everything we packed yesterday will be left along the way somewhere - Christmas presents, homemade jam, and more. My closet is filled with clothes I haven't worn in years, but I always think - it's too cute to give away and someday I just MIGHT lose 30 pounds and be able to wear it again. I need to get ruthless!

JANA - are you cleaning/organizing your sewing room or are you just looking for that wallhanging? Or both? Have you checked on your sewing machine? Look under the presser foot. ;o) Or you might ask Ethan - maybe he put it 'away' for you.

Tonite will be a scramble, I think. Onions, peppers, potatoes, eggs, and maybe sausage. And a salad. I wonder how many WW points are in a scramble. Where's PAM when I need her??

What supper ideas are bubbling up in your head for supper tonite?

Good morning!

We have warmed up a bit, up to 41 now. Still cold in my book!

Haven't heard from the kids again this week. They moved to their campground on Sunday.

There is a possibility that the AWOL wall hanging made it's way over to Sarah's, but not likely. As she brings most of her sewing here to my Batt Cave. In fact, my spare machine is identical to hers at her house, just so she can sew here. She is picky and doesn't like my fancy machine.

Matt leaves tomorrow, so it wil be really quiet the rest of the week.

Dinner - something to go along with asparagus. Michael brought some home when he went to the store for me. I made a huge batch of tortilla soup and put four meals away in the freezer. There is of course a large container for his lunches this week too.

Mary - hope you get those last two days straightened out. There is always the Walmart parking lot - LOL! With the advent of slides on the RV'sm they are quite large to stay in. Matt's is big enough that the kids have a space back in the bunkhouse area to play, if they get stuck inside for a storm. I think that there are gremlins out there in cyberspace whose job it is to make things difficult!

Well, one last load of laundry to change and it just sang at me,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! There was definitely frost on the pumpkin this morning. It was 33 degrees when I went to let Choc out and feed her. I had to scrape a heavy frost off my truck windows. While I was at it, I started DH’s car and scraped his windows. I wonder if he noticed… I’m sure he liked being warm and able to see. When I came back, I made a warm cup of coffee and did my yoga. Of course, the Hooligans accompanied me in my truck. They are always ready for a ride—even a short one. We will walk a couple times later today. Hopefully it will be a bit warmer.

Mary—I see Walmart parking lots in your future. Is that Thanksgiving? I guess you won’t be leaving your rig on a parking lot unless you have dinner at your rolling house. I hope you can persuade your campground to find a little slot for you on the outside edge if nothing else. Sounds like you are not going to run out of projects to do while you are gone! I haven’t figured out how to post the pictures here, so maybe I can prevail on you to post the mints for me.

Speaking of mints… I will finish today. I’m pleased with how they are turning out and sent pictures to my sisters. They approved. If they didn’t… well… (and, it has happened. They have much more discerning taste than I do, or so they think.) Thanks for your compliments, Mary!!!

The stone passed yesterday. It’s hard to believe how something that small can cause such pain! It was only about the size of half a grape seed—less than half the size of the yellow pin heads in my pin dish. Life is now good on the farm!

Shirley Mae—your chili sounds delish! I feel bad complaining about DH’s problems when I know you both have so many more. Getting older sure isn’t for sissies! This seems early here for frost, but we usually have frost around the 20th then warm weather again. It sure destroys the flowers. I brought my big fern in the house last night.

Becca—DH had never been sick until he had this surgery. I’m sure it’s all water (or lack of water) related. Ha, ha! I am turning into a nut case!!!

Jana—I may need to make tortilla soup here. I think I have one bowl of my meatball soup left, so maybe tomorrow night. Amazing what we find in our fabric boxes! Funny Sarah doesn’t like your “fancy” machine! Which one is your fancy one? I agree—41 is still cold! I can be real happy between 65 and 85. Talk about picky!

We still have a few leftovers to clean up for dinner, but I will definitely have to cook tomorrow night. That’s o.k. with me. I need to finish the mints today, pack them up, and clean up the kitchen. It is a sugary mess no matter how hard I try to keep it neat.

Bon appeit!

Hello everyone,We made it to town & back.Much better than I expected.I found him 2 dress pants and 1 lounging pant so he should be set for a while unless he gets more paint on them.Hes ruined 2 pair by wearing them while painting. He just dabbles & it goes on his pants.Life is never dull.
I found me a bra but must return as it’s not my style.Tried for shoes but they didn’t have my size.Going another day by myself when I can shop at ease & not be rushed.

Maryz You seem to have everything under control. So organized but I know camping you have to be.

Chickie I do hope you post a picture of your mints.Cant imagine anyone criticizing if they don’t do the job.Im Sure they are beautiful & I know Mom will be excited. We are to turn colder tomorrow.Supposed to be 33.Thats cold to me.Maybe our leaves will change.

Jana Im Sorry you cant find the wall hanging.Maybe Ethan put it up when you was busy.
You are cold in my book too.I would be covered up too.

We did eat out so it will be lite.DS has been working in GA but returns tomorrow.DH got his chocolate pie so he was happy.I had broccoli soup.Something I won’t make at home.
