SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 21
Happy Fall, Y'all!!
Yesterday's ride was only 75 miles but it took us 10 hours, which included about 1-1/2 lunch stop for dutch oven lunch which we all got to help cook. Served at a campground up in the mountains. Our ride was pretty rough in some spots and scary in only one. Sometimes I have to keep reminding myself this is FUN!! That being said, all four of us were more than happy to not ride today, our last day in camp. It's a day to break camp and load up the ATV unless a buyer comes along pretty quick!
VELDA - what are your friends going to do now? I know a lot of Escapees just park their rigs permanently in Livingston, TX where they have a sort of assisted living arrangement.
TINA, I think you have your yard done up purrfectly with no help from me! so do my friends, actually, but my mischievious nature is activating itself. Who wouldn't want to find an 18" stuffed toucan hanging from their oak tree? lol!
BECCA - your son is going hunting in Illinois? from NC?? In an afternoon??? I'm glad he's there with you for a while. I'm sure he's just the moral and physical boost you need with your DH.
JANA - if you're going to see your kid on the news, that's the best way to do it - helping others!! Last chance to have an ATV delivered to your door for your family. It will be leaving Utah tomorrow morning. Includes extra set of tires and a cover . . has a winch . . . Just sayin'. . . .
CHICKIE - did you get your computer fixed or get a new one? Lived most of my life without one, but now I'd be lost! How are plans for Mom's party coming along? Is it a surprise? I bought that book for my DBIL for Christmas. and we had Christmas with them last Sunday. He's never read much but recently discovered James Patternson so he might be enjoying that one this winter.
Gotta run. Time to go to breakfast at the fairgrounds. tonite will be dinner there with closing ceremonies and more prizes. someone said chicken.
Yum!

Good morning!
Mary - told Matt, but he needs a bigger one. His kids just don't mind as well as Scottie! Thanks.
In fact, he and the guys in the family, and his other BIL's are going jeeping and camping this weekend. Not far from home, about a hour. Matt is taking the big trailer of his for this fun.
Not much here. Quiet day is planned.
Dinner - humm, oh, yes soup! Today my order from Amazon should be here. Containers to hold my soup, so I can freeze and be ahead of dinner sonetimes.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! We had 1.6” of rain early this morning. It was real early—I heard it and went back to sleep. Rain on the roof is a lullaby for me. The Hooligans and I walked to Choc’s to let her out this morning, then I came home, swept floors, did my yoga programs and took a shower. Here I am. I need more coffee.
Yes, I got the computer fixed. $35.51 beats the price of a new one! I took it to the shop where I bought it 4 years ago, and they were happy to service it for me.
No, Mom’s birthday party is not a surprise. She does not like surprises at all. She wasn’t enthusiastic about a party, but she has warmed to it as the planning went along.
We are to be 20 degrees cooler today than yesterday. High today is to be around 73—much more like fall! More fun to walk, too. I was a hot mess every time I walked this week; it didn’t matter if it was early or late. 90 degrees is HOT this time of year!
Mary—speaking of books, I received a box from my aunt that contained more James Patterson, Maeve Binchey, and others. I need more reading time AND quilting and sewing time!!! I don’t like scary rides. Have to laugh at the stuffed animals hanging from the trees. One year we cleaned out a rental, and there were a bunch of garish stuffed animals. It was cherry time, and we stuck those stuffies in all the cherry tree branches. Best harvest. Ever. Too funny! They sure looked strange from the road as the trees were in the front yard.
Jana—I think I’ll make soup tonight as well.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 21
Good afternoon from a warm, sunny, summery, SW. Pa....Another gorgeous day but tomorrow, joining Chickie, our temps will only be in the 60s.....So, we take advantage of this "summer" while we can....The neighbors packed up and went to the lake for some swimming.....
Mary, Just want you to know, I'm not too crazy about all this scary riding, thank goodness you have a comfy campsite for me to wait for you all to come back, lol....But, I think you are a brave soul....And, I'm sure DBIL is going to love that Patterson book...As Chickie said, you don't want to put it down, as most of his books keep you reading....
Jana, isn't that great to see your "hero" on TV? I tease my DGS, Andy, who is on the police force in Pittsburgh..I keep looking for him but he told me, I'd never recognize him, he doesn't even recognize himself, with all his stuff on...Most of the time, he's undercover or SWAT team...But, I still look.....Sounds like a pretty good offer from Mary, better think about it., lol......
My day trip yesterday was wonderful...I picked up my DS and DDIL early in the morning and we took off, not sure just where or what we were doing but.....We ended up stopping at 3 different furniture stores, me for chairs, DS for a library table, DDIL for fun, then stopped at an Amish shop and loaded up on goodies...Have any of you ever had Lebanon Baloney? Not sure why it's called baloney but it's an Amish luncheon meat and while getting our stuff, was talking to a couple other customers and we all agreed, you have to use mustard on the sandwich and most of us would be sampling as soon as we got in the car...We then did stop for lunch and while trying to figure out hos to get from where we were to the other end of the county, my Ds asked the fellows who were sitting in the next booth...WELL, it turned out, the one fellow was the guy who had just trimmed my trees and said, he recognized my voice...We had such a good time talking to them and when we tried to pay, he had already taken care of our bill...We then traveled to the Lenox glass warehouse and really did some damage there...It was a fantastic day, good for all of us...We did have a few moments when I brought her back home but a good hug fixed that....
AND would you believe, she called me later to tell me, while we were at the last funeral, someone had broken into our cousin's house and had stolen his guns, money and wife's jewelry.....Don't you wonder how people can stoop so low????
Today, being so nice, I had to put something on the line outside so I washed the winter dining room curtains and will have them ready, might just put up the liners and hold off on the drapes...Not sure what else is on my schedule but I don't dare sit too long or that schedule goes out the window, lol.....
For my dinner, could be another Lebanon Baloney sandwich on fresh Amish baked bread....
You all have a great day..........
Happy eating.......

Yes, what Aaron does is nerve racking! But I have been trained as a good mom, by him being on the Search and Rescue Squad and a Deputy Sheriff while we were in California. In this job Aaron has a huge Dodge Ram truck that has been decked out with a different back end, heavier in weight, lights, sirens and a message board that is mounted on his truck that he controls while he is out there. Also the UHP, Highway Patrol, rolls with him on most accidents and sends for fire and rescue. Aaron is trained as a first responder, from his sheriff days and now as well.
What gives me a bit of comfort of him being out on the roads, is that I have been with him as a accident happened right in front of us. I watched that boy, drop from my Aaron, to what he has been trained for, a first responder. From then on, I didn't worry quite so bad, seeing that all that training worked!
UDOT also issues him a reflector vest and a bullet proof vest, just as the UHP wears. He also has a conceal carry permit, which he can use.
Still, every morning, in my prayers is for his safety and then I leave it in the Lord's hands.

Hi, all. We had Chinese for supper. I worked around with my other foods, and exercised a little restraint. My DB is going home, tomorrow. His PT said he has surpassed what he thought Bob might be able to do. He is safely walking distances with the walker. He is good on 4" steps and working on 6" steps. Ins is kicking him out even though Dr asked for another week. Bob has two 8" steps from his bedroom to the rest of the house.
