SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 18
Good morning!
We're a cool 53* this morning. Four more degrees and we'd be talking 40's! Brrr!!!
Yesterday we gave the house a lick and a promise - enough so that we can let impromptu company inside at least. lol! Then I left to hit the Goodwill and the tiny thrift shop near our house. It was, after all, National Thriftshopping Day. What?? You didn't know? well, mark your calendars for next year! I spent a lot, but found a lot, including fabric, sewing supplies, new shoes, 10 books, 3 sewing books, several gifts, Seahawk shirts and pj's, 2 pr capris, 4 jigsaw puzzles, 4 DVD's, purse, and earrings. I had a fun tiime "celebrating the holiday".
Today is an unknown. Maybe I'll get out a UFO. I have some fall placemats and tablerunner that I've never finished. Perhaps it's time . .
JANA - How did your day of 'confinement' go? Get any sewing done?
Your anniversary trip sounds like a lot of fun! Our kind of celebration! We are still hoping to make our departure date - 2 weeks from today. However, we aren't hearing anything from Bill's SIL about a memorial plan. Bill says he'll call again tomorrow. The time has past to get out of cancellation fees on RV parks and events but that's OK. But there are other people who are waiting on us so they can make THEIR plans.
CHICKIE - yay for rain!! You sure needed it! We are hoping for some on Tuesday, ourselves. Tinkerbell is a sweetie. You'd think Boomer would be the scaredy-dog. I bet your mom loved all your projects! You still have almost 2 more weeks to sew, don't you? What's next? And yes, I do have to think ahead and get organized for travel projects. I've tried in the past just tossing fabric into a tote and ended up filling our storage bins in the trailer and not needing all that fabric. So now I plan more judiciously. Plus, it's always fun to pick up a few more projects and fabrics along the way. ;o)
TINA - have fun fifth-wheel shopping! What kind of truck do you have to pull a 5W? How is everyone adjusting to the new fall schedule? And tamales! yum! I have a Mexican friend here who makes them occasionally.
BECCA - how do you make your 'squash stir fry'? What all is in it? Sounds tasty.
PAM - praying for the best for your brother. I have long lost (but now found) relatives in Buffalo, and also young friends who live there. Are you staying in a motel or driving back and forth?
JANA - congratulations to Aaron! Seems like yesterday he was thrilled to get his job with SLPD! I hope this leads to a long and SAFE career. I always pray for your boys' safety!
Tonite will be homemade pepperoni pizza or pasta with pesto sauce and I'll throw the pepperoni in there. We'll see what the HOH feels like eating. He insists HOH stands for Head of Household, but I maintain it means Hard of Hearing. We're taking a vote . . . .

Hello everyone, rainy here with short breaks of sun then rain again.in 70s.
Maryz I slice my squash.Use spring onions,Mushrooms,Sauté.Then Add walnuts & pine nutsor favorite seed.Quite tasty.
I also parboil my squash until fork tender. This is for stuffed squash.Remove from water & scoop out center of squash. With the squash, mash & Add egg, breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs. And seasonings.Bake & Add cheese on top.I used to make them for Thanksgiving.
Hoping you hear on Memorial today. When you have plans it makes it nice to know ahead.
Tina I have never heard of a one grade school.Sounds like a waste of tax dollars. We have an Intermediate School here & its 5th & 6 grade. Then middle school is 7 & 8th grade. Its so different now.Used to be 1 - 12 in the old days.
My DH would love your tamales.
Chickie So glad you got some rain. But I can do without the storms.Know Mama will Enjoy your show & Tell today.Am Anxious to see them too.
Irish You are on the go I guess.Glad they keep you hopping. The trip will be a busy time.
How is your DS & DBIL Doing.? Has to be so tough for both.
Jana I am so happy for Aaron .Its miserable working on a tense job.Prayers that this is a good decision for him.
Pam Prayers that your Brother continues to grow stronger each day & is on the road to recovery.I know nothing about NY except where my DGS lived & my one DGS lives in Brooklyn now.
Have no clue on menu except it may be ham steak or pizza.Whichever DH will eat.I found him goodies so he’s happy.I am going to bake peanut butter cookies since it’s cool. Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 18
Good afternoon!
One more day of leftovers and tomorrow the kids will be out here cooking. I just need to assemble a pasta salad. Will cook everything today and do the final assembly tomortow. It is Andrew's 12th birthday. Stu is the oldest at 21, the Andrew is the next oldest.
I got some fabric the other day and a cute tote bag pattern. My order arrived fromQIAD as well, so I have some fun projects to do.
Mary - Aaron worked along side SLCPD, but not for them as a code enforcement officer. In fact, in another city, a disgruntled citizen didn't like that he had been turned in for code violations and when that officer showed up, the citizen shot and killed her and blew up the house of a neighbor he tbought turned him in. Code enforcement are not armed, so I am glad that Aaron is out of that job now. Now I nust have to worry about all the bad drivers out there! Oh, the gray hair that is coming!
Becca - Sarah cookscsquash all kind of ways, me crookneck swuash has to have velveeta cheese on it!
Tina - one grade? That's silly! Here Middle school is 7th, 8th, and 9th. No high school until 10th grade. In California, middle school is 6th, 7th, and 8th and you start high school at 9th grade. Each state thinks they have it right, really wonder if anyone knows best.
Well, time yo go play,
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 18
Good late afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa....Boy, I am really late today but that's me.....
Mary, I have found the "lick and a promise" method of cleaning works just fine for me...And I do remember, Jana posting one time, "if you came to see the house, make an appointment, but if you want to see me, come any time"...wording is probably wrong but you get the message, lol....And I need to go shopping with you! Kevin's wife told me to pick a day next week and we're going to track down some thrift shops along with lunch (always).....But, I have a feeling my purchases will be nothing like your's.....
Becca, your squash really sounds good...After all these years, I'm finally learning to eat new foods, lol...Just like egg plant, I have never even tasted it but one of these days, lol....
Sometimes you wonder who in the world makes up the strange decisions for schools....When my kids were in school, our township had neighborhood schools. In fact, Jim had gone 8 years in the school my kids went to...All they had to do was walk right up through the yard and down 1 little street and there they were..Well, then someone got the bright idea, let's put all 6th graders in one school, so then my kids had to start riding the bus...They started doing away with the neighborhood school but then we had to build super duper big ones and bus everyone, hither and yon...Finally, in 10th grade through 12, they were in one school...I still hate to think about school starting, even though I have no one at home but just the thought of these kids growing up makes me sad.....
Thanks for remembering my DS and her DH...He's back in ICU and today they were tapping his lungs..As much as no one wants to see him go, he's been through so much, it's been really terrible on both of them...I remember last year, when Jim was in the home, I had talked to a fellow who visited his wife, 3 times a day, to make sure he was there to feed her...One day, he said, all those years he had prayed for her to get better but he felt he had to start praying the other way...She passed away while I was in Ireland....But, you just never know what's going to happen or when.....
I feel I have been so lazy today but, the lick and a promise is done and I just might take my cup of tea to the porch and pick up my book....I got the new Patterson/Clinton book, "The President is Missing" and boy it's a good one....
As for my dinner, might just be a sandwich and for sure a salad....I'm still testing different things, just in case, lol....
You all have a great rest of the day.......
Happy eating................
