SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 15th
Good morning,
Another early morning here at the Rockin' Z. Bill hasn't been able to sleep past 4:30 lately and if one of our 'crowd' gets up, we all get up! The 'boys' will be begging for their suppers by 2 pm this afternoon now, since they ate breakfast so early.
Yesterday I had my massage, put binding on my Gypsy Dancer (that I have decided to give to my former dance partner in celebration of 40 years of friendship. I'll make myself another one this winter.), and finished my tote bag for my Elf, whoever she may be. We are down to only two projects left for the longarm - my Valentine Swap quilt and my Orca at Sea. But Bill has turned his mind to projects out in his shop to get our ATV and its trailer ready for travel. We were SOOO close to emptying the queue. So close.
Today is chiropractor. And Scottie has a spa appointment. He will HATE that. But the good news is they have a special going on for a paw softening treatment. haha! He'll hate that, too!
LINDA - so much going on at your house! Can you put the daily things your DH needs in a basket to set on top of counter so he's not so frustrated? Sorry the workmen have displaced you and your Featherweight work, but it will be nice once they are finished. A 4-day retreat will be fun! Sewing, I assume? What will you take to work on?
TINA - Preston will adjust to being without Easton, quickly though I always found it easier to care for two kids than one as they entertain each other. Have a fun year!
BECCA - a bear!! There are always a few bear sightings around here, too, but not one in our yard since about 2005. The authorities tell everyone to not leave out food of any kind, garbage cans, or bird feeders. I'm glad you were watching your bear from inside!
CHICKIE - you were walking at 3.6 mph?? That's a pretty good clip! I don't think I could keep up with you! A lot of people pay a lot of money to get the workouts you get caring for your grand-dogs! And a rental is gone?? Yay!! Does DGS realize what he's in for? Don't tell him!! He's not going to expect YOU to clean it between renters, is he? If he asks you, cover your ears and sing the lalala song.
JANA - I firmly believe that we are "escorted" into the next life by loved ones who have gone before us. I KNOW Mike was there when my DFIL passed away. My brother, Jim, told us he saw Mom a few days before he died, and Bill's brother, a;so a Mike, said he saw their two other deceased brothers and his son who died as a baby. I think we're going to be happily surprised! (at least that's what I'm counting on!). I will go check out Carol7's post. Thanks!
IRISH - happy birthday Eve!! I know you're family-busy right now, but take time to celebrate tomorrow!
Supper tonite is going to be chicken on the grill, corn on the cob, and sweet potatoes. I have fixings for salad, too, but that's just too much food for us. Maybe we'll have half of everything and that way we can squeeze in a salad and have supper for tomorrow, too!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 15th
Good morning! The rains came!!! We had two inches last night with lots of thunder, lightning, and power outage for a couple of hours. But, it was so welcome!!! We were forecast for more, but the storms apparently changed direction, and we are grateful for 2”. We had several alerts for flash flood warnings, but we didn't get that much precipitation. Towns to the west apparently had quite a bit of flooding.
Jana—don’t do the happy dance too soon! We still have 3 properties—2 duplexes and one house. That’s plenty! It would be nice to be rid of some more… maybe, in time.
Pam—so sorry for your DB! Hopefully he will soon be up and walking with less pain. Your dinner sounds wonderful! Maybe next year I’ll try to grow some heirloom tomatoes—ugly but yummy! Your dinner sounds perfect!
Mary—only two projects left for the LA! Whew!!! DH hates it here when I get up early, because the Hooligans are up. No one sleeps when the Hooligans are awake!!! I’m sure DGS knows what he’s in for with the rental. It’s a mess now to get ready to rent. He had a dumpster set and is starting the cleanout. He’s a sweetie—hate putting that on him! He’s the one getting married in December (invitations I’m addressing are for him and his sweet wife to be). I’d like to walk at 4 mph, but it’s probably not possible. I do enjoy my yoga practice and walking! It’s relaxing to me.
Today is Ava only at noon for dog duty—along with dispensing Hooligan treats, feed and water. I’m making 16 cups of humming bird nectar daily. They are so busy and seem to empty a quart feeder every time I turn around. Pocket Lint comes and begs frequently at the gate as well. In between times, you ‘ll find me in the sewing room! Yesterday I quilted several of the smaller pieces I’ve made. I have one more to quilt, then bind. After that, I’ll start on another small project before I try to quilt the throws.
Dinner tonight—I have soup from the pot I made yesterday, and DH has gulf crustaceans and rice. I did a pretty good job of copying his favorite Chinese buffet treat of butter s----p.
Bon appétit!

Hello, sunny here but only 76.Hope it stays cooler.
Maryz That is our DS That is moving .Hes the House Dr.I think his hose closing is in a month so it will all be happening too soon for me.Hes always been close to us.I only want what’s best for him.
Yes Deer are much better than bears. If I was outside & saw that big one ,I would back away slowly. On my walk this morning I Drug my stick on pavement & sang.DH said the neighbors would think me weird.Better than a bear attack.
That little fawn was so cute jumping around playing while Mama ate grass.
Prayers for Bill.I too have heard of so many people seeing their loved ones before passing.
Chickie That’s a good clip to walk.I used to always keep my walking buddies on their toes but no longer have any.I still try to maintain a certain speed.
Glad DGS can now be the head man on rental.
Jana Sure hope you are breathing cleaner air.I too was all happy for Chickie.
Pam Praying DB will be walking very soon. And that the Drs Know What they are doing.Im Leary about back procedures.
Tina Hope you will cool down soon.
Got my bathrooms all cleaned & floors cleaned. Some dust bunnies removed too.
Our DGS Levi that was in Army is going full time with UPS.I hope it proves to be a good fit for him.He still has problems from being in Service.Sad the way our young men are treated.
We still have chicken pie. Will add cole slaw ,Veggies from Farm. Becca

Good afternoon from a very pleasant, warm, SW. Pa....We are having a purrfect day and loving it......The sheets were on the line and are smelling so good, almost can't wait to go to bed, lol......
Mary, I also believe, there are family members waiting to escort our loved ones into the next life...Jim talked a lot about his Mom, Chris and different friends who had gone before him....I have to believe he's with them now...We've joked so many times about Jim and all his Notre Dame buddies are now sitting right there on the sideline bench, helping to coach.....And thanks for the birthday eve wishes...I think once you turn 80, we kind of forget it, just another day, lol....81, my heavens, that's old!
Chickie, you constantly amaze me with all that you do...I keep going back and looking at the picture you sent and thinking how young you all look...See, you do so much, you don't let age catch up with you.....
Becca, Not sure I'd want to be out walking with bears in the area...Of course if they heard me singing, they sure would go the other way...But, I do feel bad for all those critters that are being pushed out of their natural homes, it's not their fault....But, please stay safe......
Other than doing the laundry, not much else has happened...Just hanging clothes took all my energy...And it really bothers me to look around and see what has to be done and just can't get to it, yet....But, each day is better so who knows what tomorrow might bring....
Haven't really decided on dinner but might throw something in the crock pot..I've gotten into a terrible meal time schedule and sometimes find I'm having dinner at 8:30 at night or sometimes just forget...But, things are getting better, I've finally been able to have that cup of coffee and not get sick...
I have a feeling the gals will want to go to lunch tomorrow so we'll see....There is a Mass for Jim in the morning and I'm thinking, what better way to start my day....
You all have a great day........
Happy eating................
