SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 27
Good morning!
I don't have long this morning. Too much to do today. Autumn arrives soon. Plus, Bill is heading off to Silverdale, north of Bremerton. About 30 miles. His brother was transferred yesterday to a care facility and isn't doing well. Bill and his sister will meet and visit, perhaps be gone all day, perhaps only a few hours. I told him to do what he needs to do. I can entertain my daughter.
Any spare moments I have before Aut gets here I'll be in my sewing room. I wish I'd realized a bit sooner that this is my brother and SIL's 60th anniversary! I do work well with deadlines, but even if I get done, there is a roadblock on the quilting frame. Bill has a quilt there and his computer isn't playing nice with his quilting program since he installed our security cam software. Arghh!!
JANA - I think you should applique a frog on your Sunflower quilt and then tell people he nibbled at the points and corners.
LINDA - when it's too hot to go into the pool, it's TOO HOT!!
CAROLE - gentle hug to Luke!! Congrats on your losses at TOPS. Oh, I love REAL mac & cheese. For that reason I rarely make it!
CHICKIE - sounds like that little boy might be a genuine case of ADD. But he seems to have fun in life!
BECCA - I hope you get your sun. I'd be glad to share some of mine!
TINA - happy birthday to your Jaz!
PAM - Bill has cereal for breakfast usually. He's more of a PB&J guy for supper. lol!
IRISH - sending you some hugs, girlfriend!
I'm not sure what's happening around here for supper. I don't know if Bill will be here or not. It might be just Autumn and me. Or it could be whole family! And tomorrow we're ordering pizza to be delivered. We'll have salad, watermelon, cheese, crackers, chips, hummus, & cheesecake, as well. But I have leftover pinto beans in the fridge so maybe they will suffice for supper. If not, I can always whip up a pasta dish.
What's on your culinary horizon?

DH is working a double, today, so I will go over to Mom and Dad's for supper and to play with snowmen. Maybe I will stop and get some cucumbers at the farm stand to add to whatever they have.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 27
Good late afternoon from warm but very wet SW. Pa...The day was absolutely gorgeous up until about 45 minutes ago and then the clouds opened up and we had a very heavy down pout....In fact, a friend and I were just leaving the funeral home and we had to wait...Finally, the guy that opens the door, got an umbrella and we didn't get too wet....One of my lunch gals lost her Dad Wed. night and the funeral is tomorrow but I'll be taking our other lunch gal to the airport so I'll miss the funeral....
Everyone seems to be going somewhere but me, boohoo..But, I did tell them, I will get even.....
Mary, that really was marathon sewing...Just my deciding takes longer than you doing all those blocks....So sorry to hear about Bill's brother, but thank goodness he's with Hospice...He will be getting the best of care....Watching them with Jim I was so in awe...And, I still get messages from them and one of the gals, makes sure she calls me at least every other week, just to let me know, if I need someone's shoulder, she's right there......
Would you believe, the sun just came out, nice and bright and we have a rainbow....thank you for all those hugs, I really do appreciate them...You know, the family and almost everyone I talk to knows, Mary..."ah that's your quilting buddy, right?" Or that's the one who helped on those quilts"
Becca, wow, aren't you full of energy today...I made the bed and cleaned up the dishes, does that count???But, as soon as I turn this machine off, I'm going to sew.....How does your hand feel? Is it healing the way it should? We just had a little girl mauled by 2 pit bulls...Poor little thing has had surgery on her face and will need several more...So sad!
Chicken potpie, sounds delish! I was thinking about making a small potpie but when I cooked the chicken, I had 2 fur kids thinking it was for them and then I didn't have enough...They could both be sound asleep under the bed upstairs and if I started the can opener, I'd have them both beside me.....
Carole, that's wonderful about your weight loss...And you know, you really do have to have "banned" food and I don't mean filets of "mac n cheese"...Probably told this story before but years ago, a friend and I started Weight Limited...I only had about 15 pounds to get rid of and she had about 60...Well, we'd go to the meeting, get weighed and listen to that week's speaker and when it was over, we'd go to
either Pizza Hut or Dairy Queen...Then we worried about getting caught by one of the leaders at the meeting but then figured, they shouldn't have been there either......I lost my weight but my friend didn't...But, it was fun!It does sound like good things are happening at your house...Everyone is recovering, thank goodness.....
My tree man finished his job and I was sorry to see him go...Found out in talking to him, he and my sister's daughter were in the same classes and he told me, he was madly in love with her, all through high school..I really did enjoy having him around and he said, anything I needed done, just give him a call....
AND Chickie, I also would advise you getting pet food on line...The brown shorts would be enough of an incentive but, in checking out prices, the on line was cheaper and free shipping if it's over a certain amount....I do hate to order litter because it's so darn heavy...I just might have to make an order, which takes maybe a day and a half, and then I might camp out on the front porch.....
Do you remember Joanne from Ohio? I remember her saying, she sat on her porch and waited for the garbage men, who were pretty good on the eyes....Darn, maybe I should start ordering from Schwann!
Nick stopped in last evening...His dad and wife are looking for a house closer to where they work so of course, let's get rid of stuff...Well, the 3 very large bins, full of Legos are coming to Grammy's...Thank goodness I have a huge shed...He also told me (before telling his Dad) he is thinking of changing his major from engineering to Criminal Justice...He's good at math and the engineering and he's very appreciative to have this internship but he wants to pursue something else....He really does have a good head on his shoulder so he'll be fine
BUT, the BIG news was, the house in N. Carolina was sold...At 1st, the ex wanted Terry to counter and Terry told her, if they lost this deal, she would be in charge of the mortgage payments....She was quick to sign the papers, lol......
Well, now that I've bent all your shoulders, I need to do something, hopefully productive....
As far as dinner, I might go get a haircut and then pick up something...For lunch I had chicken noodle soup and a peanut butter sandwich so if nothing else, I can finish the soup.....
You all have a good rest of the day....
Happy eating...................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 27
Good late afternoon from the flyover state. We are enjoying a little cooler weather (under 90 degrees), but it’s 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. I’ll take it!!! Still hoping for rain. I’m (obviously) late today. I slept in this morning. We had a neighbor’s dog (a mile away neighbor) here all night, and the Hooligans were furious. There was a barkapalooza every 10 or less minutes as the dog outside barked, and the Hooligans went flying outside but starting the cacophony before they hit the floor. It just kept going on and on. This was the second night of it.
I did my yoga practice, and DH returned early from coffee. After brunch I hit the road to the LQS for the sale. The Hooligans rode shotgun, as I could park under a big shade tree at the LQS with the truck windows open enough they could have ventilation but not get out. As promised… I broke the bank! Oh well, I found lots of fabrics that I needed (ha, ha!) and will use most of them for my Christmas presents to be made. I came home and made some red velvet brownies with frosting and chopped pecans for DD’s birthday lunch tomorrow at Mom’s.
Mary—the ladies at the LQS said to tell you hello back and were delighted to hear you are still advertising for them with your license plate holder all the way to the west coast. Know you are having a blast with Aut! Enjoy that dinner! YUM!!! My great nephew is a character—how can he not be with two older brothers and one spoiled older sister. I love them all, but I can handle them in only short spurts. I’m just not used to little ones any more. Yikes! Sorry about the quilting roadblock! Technology!!!
Irish—so good to hear from you! Sorry there are sad times for your friend. I am still friends with one of DH’s home health care ladies. We didn’t start socializing until after DH passed—they had rules against it. We used to play golf together in hospice tournaments. Neither of us golfs any more. I saw a rainbow the other evening. It was in the east—someone was getting rain, but not us. Oh, funny! My Brutus came from anywhere at the sound of the electric can opener—even blocks away outside, or so it seemed. He fairly flew through the house or across the yard when he heard it. (I must have had a very loud can opener.) I went to an exercise class after work that was on the floor above the university cafeteria. It always smelled divine and we’d be starved when we finished our class… same stops on the way home! I do remember Joanne, and I want to drop her a line. I love the porch sitting and the views from her and your porches! That’s a problem out here in the country unless I do the ordering. DS’s son #3 has an engineering degree but he hated working in that field. He’s a volunteer firefighter and went to school for his EMT, then his paramedic, and now he is a paramedic. He loves it and the hours. He’s the one with the huge garden.
Becca—I never thought of dehydrating cucumbers. I think your chicken pot pie sounds yummy! But, I’ll have a salad, too.
Pam—I like cucumbers and onions in vinegar with a bit of sugar. It was a summer standard at Grandma’s.
Dinner here tonight… more of the usual. Steak, broccoli, salad, sliced pineapple. I’m always ready to eat… DH—definitely not. I have to be really careful or I’ll put on all the weight I’ve worked so hard to lose.
Bon appétit!

I got several cucumbers, and Dan likes them in vinegar, too. Maybe I will have to do that! Thanks, Chickie.
