SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 31st
Well, ladies, this about wraps up May! Looks like I didn't get my Christmas quilts done a bit too soon! It will be here before we know it!
Yesterday I made some blocks for Mary Q's June Lotto. This morning I'll finish cleaning my sewing room and then I don't know what. We have some repairs to make to our cement parking pad outside our shop so if Bill decides to do that, I'll help him. Otherwise, I may do some mopping and dusting, and maybe start a new project - or put start putting together some of my past swap and lotto blocks. and of course, there is always weeding . . . I won't be bored!
CAROLE with an E - I don't know where any of our other Carol's went. I'm rarely on FB, but when I am I sometimes see Lady Carol there. What an experience, living in Saudi! Sounds like Ken was able to "cope". ;o] And those 3 pounds aren't ugly! They are - or were, anyway, part of YOU, and you are beautiful! I know. And about Mary Q - you're right! She visited here once - and we there once - and she is a total sweetheart!
IRISH - you have good neighbors! Do you need me to send you some chips? What's your favorite? Your sis and DBIL are really going through some tough times. We have a very good friend who only has one leg and half a foot on the other. He has been that way since a kid. He copes very well. To me, there would be no decision to make. Other than that, how is DBIL doing? I'm sure his general overall health will affect their decision. Is he able to make this decision himself?
JANA - every time I see a Highlander I think of you, no matter what color it is! I rarely need an Rx but one summer I needed 3 medicines. And they got all three of them WRONG! When I brought it to the pharmacist's attention, he slapped a phone down on the counter and told me I could call my doctor if I had a question about the script. I eyeballed him and asked, "isn't that YOUR job?" He did finally, and I was right and he was rude. He shouldn't have messed with me. I have red hair and I know how to use it! I've never gotten an Rx from them since.
PAM - we have a family friend who has Raynaud's disease. His hands were always white, swollen, and he couldn't even put them into his jean pockets. Someone suggested he try a copper bracelet. He did and next morning, his hands were warm, pink, and easily flexed. Now he never takes that bracelet off.
VELDA - do you do your mission sewing in your rig or at a clubhouse or church or ??
BECCA - you are putting me to shame with all the cleaning you are doing! I'm looking up at my dusty light fixtures and thinking - 'where or where is Becca?? I need her!' You take such great care of your sweet hubby!
BECKY - oh, I love breakfast for supper! I haven't done that for a long while. thanks for the new old idea! I think a scramble is in order for later this week!
But for tonite - we'll be having Panko breaded chicken 'steaks'. Not sure yet what all will go with them, but at least I have the main dish all thought out.
Hope y'all remembered the chips!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 31st
Good morning! I hope I have a few minutes here. The last two days have been spent roofing part of one of the rentals. I’ve been the ground person and go-fer. Yesterday I threw up 9 bundles of shingles to DH and one of the kids’ friends who was helping him on the roof. (No, I can’t handle full bundles! I open them and carry them up the ladder 5-7 shingles at a time and throw them on the roof.) I was a tired puppy when we got home. I did cooking and laundry (dirty, sweaty work clothes) before I could put my feet up. We still haven’t gotten the mowing done in town since this roof became a priority (we had rain two nights). So… today will probably be mowing. Then… cleaning up and repairing the three properties… that will take weeks to months. It’s insane how they trashed them. The one yesterday that we did the roof repair is the one in best shape inside, so it will be first to get ready to rent. We need to do minor repairs, paint most of the inside, and clean. Then it will be the other two. This is really disgusting and tiresome. I’ll probably forget how to sew!
Mary—I’ve never heard of the copper bracelet for Raynaud’s. That’s amazing! I dealt with a pharmacist like that after the fire. I gave him a HUGE piece of my mind, burned my bridges and never darkened his door again! I must have some red hair, too. My DD has red hair, and she got it from somewhere…
I’m sorry this is so short and complaining. I have to let it out somewhere. My yoga practice is a good place to let it go, too, and I’m making sure I get in some time each morning for “me” on my mat!
Dinner tonight… I’ve got to fix something. It might be easy “mac ‘n cheese” (sorry, but it has to be easy when I’m tired!), salad and some asparagus.
Enjoy your day! Bon appétit!

Good morning!
The CVS pharmacist we deal with is very good and very nice. Michael took in the wrong drug and they quickly fixed it, at no charge. This has happened here before and the same result. We are stuck because of our health care plan that we have, we deal with CVS only - glad they are good!
Not much here. Getting warm, ok, down right hot! Into the upper 90's this weekend.
Ethan is officially a first grader today. He was so excited as the kindergatners got to play on the first grader's playground. Such a cute, but silly boy!
Working still on that onesie and my quilt top. My top is partially sewn together and all the borders pieces are ready, just waiting on me!
My deconstructed lasagna was very tasty last night and there is plenty for dinner tonight. It is a recipe from the Pioneer Woman. Very easy to cook as well. She also made orange rolls, a Michael favorite, so I may zip up a batch and divide up the rolls in pans and freeze them for treats at different times. I know my bread recipe freezes well.
Time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Wow, several of you are really working your fannies off! Makes me feel exhausted just reading about it.
I am finally feeling better today, was able to walk with DH. Appetite is back too. Now I can get back to my work.
We have been at 99 the past two days and of course the AC went out 2 days ago. They can't come to fix it until Monday. Joys of being in a small town. Temps have dropped down to the high 70's for the next 2 days, so grateful for that. Plus we have the pool and lots of fans in the house. Funny how "soft" we have become with our modern conveniences!
My sister makes fabric coiled baskets to sell. She uses 3/4" strips to wrap and cuts extra for future baskets. If she never makes another of those color of baskets the strips accumulate. She gave me a big bag of them when I was visiting her recently to cut up for stuffing for the donation cat beds I make. This time I just couldn't bear to cut them up. So I went on line and looked up crocheted rugs from fabric strips. The strip size was perfect, I found a fast way to connect them all and I have been happily crocheting with fabric. Don't know what I will do with it when I finish but it is fun to do and uses up her scraps. One of her friends, who makes childrens things and sells at the same market, gave me a lot of flannel and other cotton fabrics she no longer wants so I will see what I can do to use up those left-overs too. May just give it all to the quilt guild. Someone always takes free stuff.
The contractor finally called to set up dates for doing our last reno. Of course he picked the dates that we are going to be on our road trip. I had told him several times when we would be gone, but I guess he did not really listen. Now we have to wait until July or August. Meanwhile our hallway is loaded with boxes of sinks, fixtures, shower parts, tile and grout. I just want it ALL to be done. Tired of this reno thing!
Well, back to "processing materials", as Dad would say. Hope you all stay cool. Prayers to those in need.
DH is grilling chicken on his new BBQ (for his birthday)tonight.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 31st
Good afternoon from, now, sunny but we just had a shower move through (after I had taken the clothes of the line).....
Mary, What a friend! To offer to send chips, now that is special..I will be going out tomorrow and have it at the top of my list.....I go along with the "red hair attitude"...My Kathy has red hair and boy she knows how to use it...Almost everyone in the family has a tinge but she's got the most and WOW....There is really no excuse for mistakes, especially when lives are in the mix.....I've been getting my RX at Walmart and so far, they have been super...With my DBIL, you are right about the decision making but right now, no one really knows what's going on in his "new world"...He is 80 and does have a few medical problems and doesn't have a living will...I just have the feeling that once he gets this feeding tube in and starts getting nourishment, he might start to come back..But, the family all agreed to go ahead with the surgery next week and are making plans to build a ramp etc. to some day bring him home...Instead of trying to guess what, we have to just turn it over to the Good Lord above and follow his lead.....
Becca, as Mary posted, I do the same thing and right now, I really need you....I did some more planting and mulching yesterday and still not finished...I have a feeling someone should ban me from the Home Depot garden section....
Chickie, you're another one who never stops....Each time I read your posts, I'm worn out...You really do it all!
Jana, how cute, being able to play in the 1st grade playground...It is hard to believe he's going into 1st grade...We need to keep these kids little for a while longer....
Well, now it looks like we might get more rain....It's good for the plants that we all have just put in (and that includes everyone in the neighborhood)....As much as I had hoped to do the bathroom today, so far, it's not happening...And tomorrow, if I don't spend the day with my sister, I'm to meet friends at Panera's for lunch and then meet one of the lunch gals and another friend at a local winery for dinner and alittle tasting...I did tell them I could be the designated driver....
As for dinner tonight, I have no idea...Using Jana's line from one of her posts, "it's still hidden in the freezer".....
You all have a great rest of the day.....
Happy eating.............

Hi all
I've been swamped, I'm trying to get as much stuff done in the house...and outside for Frankie.....I'm leaving Saturday to go with Dad to Virginia, we're taking Jazz too. Dad doesn't see asst night, hasn't ever driven the motor home more than 60 miles and I don't know how to drive the motor home at all LOL it's been 43 years since Dad has driven across country. Last time I saw my aunt's Uncle's was 20 years ago....Mom and Dad always made the trip, almost every year except the past few because of Mom's health, she was always the driver....the past at least 3 trips she shouldn't have driven but nothing we could do about it. Now Dad wants to go see his brothers and sisters and asked me over and over to go with him so I am. Frankie said I could but he's very worried about the trip....he never worries. I'll be gone for 3 weeks.
I'm not sure what supper will be yet, I'm too busy trying to get ready.

Daphne doggy and I were going to go out and plant the rest of my plants, but the rain beat us to it. If it calms a little, we might just go play in the rain.
I picked out the fabrics for block lotto, yesterday. Mom knew exactly where the bin was, lol.
Supper tonight... Dan is working. I think I will finish the berry fluff from this weekend, and then either scrambled eggs or mac and cheese sandwiches. I had a creamsicle (sp?) for my appetizer.
Mary, that copper bracelet thing is interesting. I have read about heat therapy to get the blood vessels used to opening up. A couple years ago, I got a wax hand spa. He used it religiously every night for months. His hands have been a lot better since. He also was using trimmers to clip the hard skin around all the cracking. It was making a mess of his hands. I got him on emery boards instead of clippers, and that helped a lot, too.
Well, it seems to have passed. Time to go play in the mud! Have a grrrreat day, everyone!
love,
Pam

I got all my Mister Stripey tomatoes in, and the other two sweet 100's cherry tomatoes. Someone has already pulled out my first cherry tomato. I blame the squirrels. I hope it rains more tonight and is sunny tomorrow. I still have Old German tomatoes to plant. I got one better boy for productivity, and the rest heirlooms for taste. I also need to transplant my zuccinis and cucumbers, but it isn't hurting them any in the planter. My lettuce is a whole bunch about 1/4" tall, and I have baby cilantros, too. I may have to dig up a patch for swiss chard, too. I think we are about out of the canned stuff.
