March 30 devotion

Joshua 9
Inquire of the Lord

Image

This sentence is so brief that it can be easily missed, but it is the key to the entire story: The men of Israel "did not inquire of the LORD."

Joshua should have known better--they were in a war. The Israelites were in the middle of a divine takeover of an entire region. They would need God's guidance every step of the way. The Israelites were fooled because they did not ask for God's guidance in deciding what to do.

Does this sound familiar? Do you ever get yourself into trouble because you fail to ask for God's wisdom and direction? The passage implies that if the Israelites had asked for God's direction they would have figured out what was really going on.

God wants to be part of your decisions, big and small. No issue is too insignificant to bring to God. He can see the big picture; you can't. Pray daily that the Holy Spirit will guide you in each decision you make.

Hugs and prayers

We are taught over and over in the scriptures to trust in the Lord, seek His guidence and counsel in all we do. We do all the leg work first, make a decision and take that decision to the Lord, asking if it is the right one. He will answer. The answer can come or a stupor of thought, which I have learned to listen to as well, knowing that my first idea, decision was the wrong one. As you strive to live a righteous life, you will learn to hear that still small voice as it whispers and teaches you.

Izzy, Thank you again for a spot on devotional for today. I read every day but just busy and don't get a chance to always reply.

I really needed this today. I should print it off and tack it up on my mirror to see each morning. So much has happened in our lives recently in this house, we need heavenly guidance because life here is getting a bit crazy and so discouraging.

My DH is not doing well and every time they run any kind of test, a new problem pops up. He immediately assumes he has cancer since most of his family has died from various forms of cancer. I need God's guidance to help him and reassure him that he shouldn't worry until he knows what to worry about.

I come to these devotions for strength and encouragement in the face of what seems impossible mountains to climb. But with GOD all things are possible. We do so need to turn to HIM for the answers instead of the sleepless nights and long worrisome days and so many dr apptmts that present more questions and doubts than answers.

Thank you Izzy and Jana and others who contribute each day on these devotionals. You have no idea how much they help me get thru another day. I am thanking God for answers to my prayers for my own health....a visit to dr on wed was very good, actually surprisingly good. My BP, cholesterol, and weight are all down and dr is very happy with my test results.

God bless you all today and all your tomorrows. And do listen to that little voice teaching us to make right decisions. You are all in my prayers each day here on QIAD. Our "family" that touches our hearts and is always there when we need them.

Hugs and love across the miles, Shirley Mae

Thanks Izzy.
That’s a small verse but packed with spiritual wisdom.& guidance.
We so often try to figure things out but so much easier to go to God First. The verse that comes to my mind.
Trust in the Lord with all thine Heart & lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him & he will direct thy path. Becca
