SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, March 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Mar 20, 2018 4:09 am

Good morning,

Today is my oldest brother, Gene's 83rd birthday. I'll call him sometime today, probably from Albert's hospital room so he can talk to him, too. Gene is still long-haul trucking in Alaska and may be on the road today. He sent a neat picture the other day of his truck and load - heavy equipment - stopped on the Alaska Highway, snow surrounding him. Albert loved seeing that photo.

Speaking of Al, no further word on him. The family had to let their room at the hospital inn go as the inn is booked solid. so they had to pack up Barb and take her home yesterday - 2-1/2 hour drive - and now someone has to babysit her. She is just too unstable, physically and mentally, to leave her alone. Not sure how the kids will manage both parents, plus Jeff's FIL. Al SHOULD go to rehab, but I don't think that's going to happen. As they all live 75 miles from us, we're not readily available, though we can be there quickly if they ask for help.

Bill and I have been hoping, planning to take a week and go camping in eastern WA and yesterday Bill put the hitch back in the truck. But then the set-back happened and it's looking like we're going no where soon.

JANA - I sure hope your nephew gets his job if he and your niece want it. sounds like great pay! and a steal on the apartment. My son used to live across the street from Amazon. I wonder if it's the same apartment complex. small world! congrats to your Ethan!! He is so smart! And has quite a personality!!

CHICKIE - how did your truck fare in the hail? I can't imagine you with any other vehicle! Poor Tinkerbell. I'm not fond of L&T either! Yes, I feel like a centipede sometimes with all my little feeties running back and forth to Seattle. Will be such a relief when we're done with that.

LINDA - I hope your TLQ gave you some relaxtion yesterday. And I love a good excuse to go through my toys, too! It's almost like shopping and everything is free! I'm sending wishes your way that you will soon be pest free.

BECKY - I wouldn't mind a cheeseburger myself!

IRISH - how wonderful to have you with us again! I so understand our need to do something but hesitant to volunteer at 'the home'. I think the kitties need you more and you need them. In my sister's town, there are shelter volunteers who walk dogs, too. I've been wondering about your eagles. Sad about the one egg, though. But happy about the progress all the others are making!

BECCA - I'm glad to hear your SIL is doing well. I think mine is, too. She is here visiting right now for a few weeks, but plans to be back in Las Vegas by Easter. It sounds as if she is making it permanent, living with her DD. It's working out well for them all. The table your DGS is making sounds amazing. What a gift!

TINA - how's it going with you and yours?

Supper tonite - no cooking for me! We are going to my DD, Lara's, for supper. Al & June will be going along. We joke about how we are all joined at the hip(s) and go everywhere together, even the grocery store! lol! I have no idea what we're having. My DGS, Alec, is cooking, I think. The one who just finished culinary school. My birthday dinner will be his final test! lol!

Are you cooking tonite?

Good morning! I thought I was late today, but only Mary is here before me. It was a dark morning, and we got to bed late last night… I didn’t wake up until 7:40! By the time I took a shower, did my yoga practice, and got dressed again… Here I sit with my coffee.

Yesterday was dark and drizzly, and I couldn’t get in the mood to sew. Crazy! I worked in the kitchen and got out my watercolors and painted a bit—nothing fancy, just a bit of dabbling. I wish I was good at it like my grand daughter-in-law. One of my sisters is very good—she goes to a lot of classes and workshops.

Mary—I guess no news is good news? Too bad Al can’t go to rehab and have his wife in a room with him! He could have his rehab care, and she would be looked after. Sorry about the room loss. Guess there were no others nearby available?

I didn’t go look at my truck. It should be o.k. DH said his was. I love my little truck! I can’t imagine me with any other vehicle, either! No new calves in the storm. That’s good. I hate to think of them getting chilled and maybe sick.

Irish—I agree with not volunteering at the care center too soon, although it may be something you would want to do in a year or so. You need the furballs, and they need you!

Sorry this is short. DH will be ready for brunch in a few when he returns from coffee. Dinner tonight—steak and baked potato for him, soup or chicken for me with salads, corn, cottage cheese… no one will starve here!

Bon appétit!

Good afternoon from a very snowy, wintery, SW. Pa...In the past hour, the rain turned to snow and everything is covered and it's still snowing pretty hard.......Isn't this the 1st day of Spring????Oh well, maybe by the 1st day of Summer, all the snow will be gone.....

Mary, I can't imagine your days, running this way and that...thank goodness you do have your sister with you....Anxious to hear what is on the table for your birthday dinner.....

Becca, you have a birthday coming up also, right? You girls keep it up and you'll be catching up with me....You really have a lot going on in your life right now don't you? And I also hate doing buttons, lol... Hoping the sun shines in your neck of the woods.....

Chickie, You also paint??? That's something I've always wanted or hoped to be able to do...That's wonderful! No wonder you have such a good eye for quilts....Thank goodness there weren't any new babies during the storm...I hate to think of them being out in the nasties any time but when they're new born, that would be terrible...

Not much happening today except, getting this table cleaned off, once and for all...Do have a bunch of cards to get in the mail but being such a "wimp", I'm not likely going out in this weather....
Do have to tell you what happened yesterday...Jim and I have always had a Visa card, same card, same number since 1995....I called Chase, asking for advice, (whether Jim's name should be taken off or not), talked to a very nice fellow and he in turn put me through to a gal, who was very hard to understand...I told her I needed advice and she brought up the account and all at once, said, "I cancelled the account"! WHAT??? Just like that and there was nothing I could say...I was calling for advice, nothing more...She didn't care that this was my only card, she didn't care if I needed this card, simply said, I'm sorry and that I'd have to apply for a new card, through her or on line...At this time, I hung up and took a heart pill.....I did send Visa a message last night and the response said, they will get back to me...And this might happen often but it really left me with a terrible feeling...I did apply on line but it's going to take about a month...I also will be stopping at my local bank and talking to them.....But, today is a new day, on to that messy table......

For my dinner, I'm going to make a little meat loaf and maybe a veggie.....

You all have a great day...............

Happy eating.............

Good afternoon!

Update on Kate and little Lila. Saw the OB and the anti labor drug shot is finished! No more shots and the OB told the kids that he won't let Kate go longer than April 13th. We all doubt that it will be that long. Lila has been longer than our Gracie now.

Dinner - I think pizza would be nice.

Mary - a professional private chef to cook for you -- what a treat!

Chickie - such a talented one you are! I dabble with tole painting and cheat too! Trace on the pattern and do the fill in work. I can draw even a stick figure. Yours must be wonderful!

Becca - Birthday wishes early! Having your family there will be a fun birthday.

Irish - I am with the others - the kitties need your love! It took Sarah a long time to deal with everything after her first husband passed away.

Michael has been working on the bathroom. Running smurf tube for future wires that need to be run. Next is the sheetrock. Getting there!

Enjoy!
Jana
