SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 21st
Good morning,
IRISH, I was so sorry to read your message this morning. My heart aches for you. I was so looking forward to you getting to go to San Antonio, but I know where your heart needs to be. Please know we're all here for you, hugging and holding your hand across the miles as you travel this path.
JANA - did you get all your predicted snow? Will be crossing my fingers for Kate and Lila! But she will probably do just fine even if early. Enjoy making the baby quilt! OH, and I LOVED the little Bo Peep dress! I was a twirler, too, when I was little, and I would have given my little sister to have had a dress like this! (though, to be honest, I'd have given you my little sister, dress or no dress! lol!)
LINDA - So sorry to hear about your quilty friend's illness. This is a tough one. Yes, we live in sad times. When I grew up, we didn't even have locks on our doors and always left the keys in the car. It's a different age. Your photos are beautiful! I really enjoyed seeing those lovely blossoms. I came back twice through the day for a 'spring fix'! I hope you get to go camping soon! We have friends from here who are drifting around CA right now, enjoying the weather and the wineries. last I heard they were in Placerville.
CHICKIE - it sounds like part of your shower gift should be a box of Thank You cards, some stamps, a pretty pen, and a book of Miss Manners Rules of Etiquette, with portions highlighted! I hope your weather improves! We can't have you shivering and huddling under quilts for another 6 weeks!!
BECCA - I love that you are always so active in your yard. I bet you can't wait for spring to really get out there and 'dig in'!
Thank you all for your kind comments on my X-St Santa. I loved doing it but, as I told Bill, I feel like 10# has been lifted off my shoulders to finally have it finished and on my dining room wall! Yesterday I got out 13 fall-themed swap blocks from my UFO box and made a table runner from 3 of them and placemats from the rest. Each placemat will be a different block, but each will have the same 3-1/2" strips down each side to tie them all together. I needed a project that for now, doesn't require much thought. Or time. My sister and DBIL are here now and there will be little time on my own for the next 3 weeks.
I'm still thinking on supper - we have leftover chili and cornbread, though we may go to Mexican Happy Hour tonite with our friends who also know my sis and BIL. Or we may have chili dogs . . .
Have you got some options for your supper rounded up yet?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 21st
Good morning! We are icy here. The roads are o.k., but everything else has about ¼” of ice covering it. I moved my truck out from beneath the big tree when I came back from taking care of Choc and Maggie yesterday afternoon. DH had to go to town and light a pilot light on a furnace that had blown out at a rental. He showed the tenant how to light it and left him a lighter. Before he left, there was all that ice to scrape off the windows.
Irish—my heart breaks for you. It’s a rough road we travel. You have had such a special life with your Jim; you are so blessed!!! I’m so glad he is transitioning peacefully. We are holding your hands, offering our shoulders and lifting you up and carrying you from all over the country and Canada as you go through this rough time.
Linda—I lost my best friend in 2012 from a fast growing glioblastoma. I came out to CA to tell her goodbye three weeks before her death. I still think of her all the time. She was barely 60. It’s sad we have to have bars and alarms—our house in SF where I lived in the 50s has totally changed with them added. We barely locked our doors back then, and all the kids played outside until way after dark. We never felt unsafe. I love the tulip tree!
Mary—I agree about the Thank You cards, etc., but she might just throw them at me! LOL! I think our weather is on a roller coaster again. Tomorrow should be 40s… I hope! I need it to melt my truck ice! It is to rain again. We are 20 now with a real feel of 9!!!
Becca—I hope to be more active in my yard this year again!
This morning I had lots of yoga help with Boomer and Tinker Bell. They were on, around, under me and licking my face when I was trying to do closing sequence… so much for tranquility!!! I’ll be in my sewing room. The only dog I have today is Ava-- Back to Choc and Maggie tomorrow. Yesterday I finished Mom’s placemats and got back to quilting the ones for DGD.
Dinner tonight… I need to go visit the freezer and see what falls out. I haven’t a clue… really! The only thing made in the fridge is banana bread. You know… man cannot live by bread alone… (It doesn’t say anything about woman… I could live on sour dough bread and be very satisfied… I’d look like the Michelin Mama, but I’d be happy!).
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon ladies.
Mary, your cross stitch is beautiful, and yes, I would leave it up year round too. Glad your sis made it in. I would have traded my sisters for mostly anything back then, too....
Chickie, so sorry that you didn't get a thank you. But you are probably wise not to hold your breath. We got some freezing rain, but I guess they thought the kids could brave it today, as we had school. The pavement isn't bad, just the gravel getting to the pavement. Sooner or later, we will have another bus slide off the road, then they will be extra cautious for a bit.
Your tree and flowers are beautiful Rose. Mine never look that good, but then, if JR doesn't take care of them, no one else does. I am allergic to everything, but I like to look at them. He usually enjoys messing with his flower beds and garden. He is looking forward to springtime too. Seed catalogs and lists all over the family room.
Jana, that little dress is so cute. She will hate it if she has to pass it down to the new little sister! My oldest DGD hated to give anything to her sister. She would rather you took it to good will, rather than see it on the younger.....
Becca, spring is coming, pace yourself....LOL
Irish, hugs to you, and please try to enjoy your trip.....
Tonight, I think we will try some spaghetti. JR could probably cut that pretty fine. He did say no salad or garlic bread....Ha...and DD brought home girl scout cookies. He is bumming big time!
You all have a great day....Becky

Good morning.
Irish, it just breaks my heart to hear about Jim, we're here for you.
Chickie, you're a better person than me, I'd have called and asked about the invitations and given a piece of my mind.
Jana, it's a beautiful little dress.
Mary, I love your x st Santa, gorgeous!
Linda, your tree is beautiful!
I liked the tractor picture....I forgot who posted it.
All the sickness is gone from here now, yay! I'm just kind of tired but that's ok. Our winds have started, yuck. Frankie is back helping Dad today. He also took a part time job for his 2nd cousin clearing his 7 1/2 acres across from Dad's place...I'm not sure when it starts, his cousin needs to get the backhoe here first.
I've been making soups here
the best was chicken Alfredo soup, very yummy! Tonight will be tostadas made from leftover pinto beans from last night.
Not much else has been going on here.
Tina
