Feb 12 daily devotion

Genesis 22:1-19

Could any of us trust God that much?

Our hearts wince at the thought of sacrificing a human being. Gut we would be wise to consider how this story gives an astounding picture of what God Himself would one day do for us. As Isaac carried the wood for the burnt offering, so Jesus carried His own cross to Golgotha. As Abraham placed Isaac on the altar, so God placed His Son on the cross. As Abraham raised his Knife in order to kill his son in obedience to God, so God allowed Jesus to be put to death so that sin could be punished and forgiveness could be given. Abraham knew that God would provide the lamb for the offering (22:8) Many centuries later, He did. John the Baptist pointed this out to his followers. "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the World!" (John 1:29) How much do you trust God---really trust Him? Enough to die for Him? Enough to let a dream in your life die?

How about enough to live for Him?

Hugs and prayers

There are many types and shadows throughout the scriptures, teaching of the example and sacrifice that our Savior. Just as those in the Bible were taught, we are taught to of what still is to come and be patient and trust in the L9rd. He does have a plan and is bringing it to pass as we are living in the last dispensation and will fulfill the prophcies spoken.

Not only was Abraham tested, but Issac too. Issac was not the young boy, most often portrayed, but a full grown son, who could have easily overpowered an old Abraham. Issac also trusted and obeyed what the Lord commanded and submitted to the Lord. We too can submit our will to do as the Lord has commanded, it is what we have to give.
