SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Feb 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Feb 04, 2018 3:26 am

Good morning!

We are to be in the low 50's all week long and a few days with no rain, even! There may even be some sunny patches! February in the PNW can be fickle. We can have a short sunny stretch breaking 60* and we can also have a week of below freezing temps. Sometimes back to back. It's my favorite of the winter months.

There was a good turnout for Bill's brother's birthday party. I think Mike enjoyed it, though he's not looking too good. Much thinner since we last saw him, but his spirits were good for the 3 hours we were there.

My sis has her mammo tomorrow morning and an appointment with her surgeon the next day. We are VERY anxious to hear what is going on with her.

and Vicki's DD texted us that she wants to meet us for coffee late this week to talk about 'things'. We have no clue what their reaction to our letter is, but at least they aren't ignoring us!

This morning we are off to another breakfast with DD#1 and her family to celebrate her birthday. When we get home from that, our time will be our own. And there is football to be watched. We really have no skin in this game, but since we can't bring ourselves to root for the Patriots, I guess it's going to have to be Go Eagles! Eagles who are in PA! Get it? And we have IRISH in PA, our own Eagle Gramma! There ya go! If you're in doubt about who gets your vote, I just settled it for you!

IRISH - Did you see what I did there? tied you to the football game! How is Jim's new chair working out? You know, if you had a dog, you wouldn't need to wash those kitty dishes - or any dishes for that matter! Scottie can get them clean enough to put right back into the cupboard!

JANA - I remember now that you had the painters tarp for your LA. Cats gotta do what cats gotta do! My cats love anything to do with quilting and Bunny used to love laying in that comfy 'hammock' when we had a quilt on the frame. We quickly learned to close the door to the quilt room but I know your frame isn't in a small room of it's own.

BECCA - "dressing the bed" must be an Eastern-ism. We "make the beds" here in the West. Though we do 'dress' dolls, turkeys, deer, mannequins, and ourselves. ;o) My DB, Jim, got a scooter, but by the time they finally got it he had no longer had any dexterity in his fingers to operate the "gas" and "brake" buttons. He kept crashing it and tipping it over. So the scooter got parked in a corner and he stayed in the WC after that.

BECKY - good to know there's someone here who doesn't have to be watched constantly for sneaking what I refer to as 'catfood' into our menus! High five!!

We still have our hamburger to warm up and share tonite, plus fried onions, potato salad, chips, fresh veggies with dip, and cheese and crackers. This should get us through the football game and supper both! Like I said - bigger jeans!

I hope you have a great supper tonite, and that you won't be needing bigger jeans, too!

Good morning, Mary. So much going on in all your lives. Prayers lifted for everyone.
Hope you all enjoy the game today. Park has a party, but we never ho to it. We would rather do our own thing. I will probably sew.
My big quilt is done, but that would be another whole post. May do that later after church. We have leftovers for today, so no great recipe to share. :)

Good afternoon from another wintery mix kind of day in SW. Pa...We've had rain, we've had snow and now, I'm just not sure.....

Mary, Your weather sounds about as goofy as our's gets sometimes...They say, here in Pa. we can have all 4 seasons in 24 hours, just stick around! So glad you were all able to enjoy your DBIL's birthday party and then another breakfast party today...I like how you've decided who to root for today...As you know, I haven't been watching football but I am hoping the EAGLES come out on top....

Becca, So far I guess we're lucky in the snow department but wait until tonight....I am lucky I'm able to visit with Jim, means a lot to me seeing him, even if it's just for a short time...Not too long ago, when I got there, he was sleeping so I just sat and watched him sleep, lol...I know he doesn't realize that I'm not there every day but it bothers me....Will be so glad to see the last of the snow and ice....I'll bet those little ones will have so much to say about their Disney adventure...It seems, no matter how old they get, they still remember back when they went to Disney (I still do, lol)....

Velda, can't wait to see pictures of your quilt...As Becca said, bet it's a masterpiece....

Well, once again, I'm running out the door...Did a few (very few) uglies this morning, got Jim's laundry all done and will be off for a visit...Since he's not eating much, I try to take pudding or something that he might like so today, I'll stop at Wendy's and get him a Frosty...Might be winter but he loves his ice cream....

As for dinner, what ever falls from the fridge or where ever the car decides to take me......

You all have a super good day......

Happy eating................

Good morning!

Hiding out at church right now. Will watch the Superbowl later this afternoon. Will root for any team that will beat the Patriots! We have a friend in Calfornia that did all the drywall in our house there that played for the Eagles. He played for a couple of years as a starting offensive guard, until his neck was broken in a game. That ended his career.

Irish - I don't know the name of Andrew's robotic team. This last competition, the parents were not allow in to watch, so I doubt it was over the net. We will see what next Saturday holds for their team.

Mary - Happy birthday to your DD. February is a good month to be born!

Becca - Michael likes the phrase dressing the bed - he says it fits!

Vel - that quilt is beautiful!

Dinner will be broccoli cheese soup in bread bowls. The bread recipe makes 6 bowls, so we need two, the rest will become cinnamon rolls for afters.

Enjoy!

Good afternoon ladies.
Not a lot going on here. Just puttering around this afternoon. I got up this morning and went out to breakfast with my BFF. We chat most days on e-mail, but don't see one another often anymore. All too busy. Anyway, nice visit and it is so exciting, for me anyway, she will be coming out to our building to work on the 19th. She has been at the one of the hospital clinics at the hospital forever, it seems, but she is moving to a different department that happens to be on the third floor. I work on the first floor, so it will be a good thing.
Ha Mary, I am not one of those people, for sure! A funny story, sometimes when I make that food for DH, I usually make meatloaf too, because a couple of the grands don't care for fish. One night, I made meatloaf, and DGD asked where the fish was. I told her that I didn't make any, and she looked at me really funny. She then said that she thought Fish was a side dish for meatloaf. Spoiled children, I guess.
Jana, your dinner sounds good too. I haven't been able to master those type of rolls or bread bowls. I should probably try again.
Well, I am getting ready to stick a pan of Salisbury steak in the oven. Will have mashed potatoes and green beans and brussel sprouts.
I forgot about the super bowl tonight. My DGS called to ask how to make buffalo dip. Oh well, we probably won't miss it here, hope you all have a great evening....Becky
