SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Jan 2

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jan 02, 2018 3:20 am

Good morning!

I know a lot of you are COLD!!! Brrrr!!! I'm embarrassed to say that we're in the mid-40s all week. They plan on a little rain late in the week, but mostly we are just chilly and sunny.

I sewed all day yesterday, working on a little project. I'll sew some today, too, but I have a massage appointment at noon so that will cut the day smack in half. But I'm not complaining!! Otherwise, not much going on in our world. We are still waiting for my brother to get a call back with his next appointment in Seattle. He needs surgery but at 81 with COPD, they want to do a lung capacity test first to see how big a risk he is for anesthesia. And that has to be done in Seattle. And appointment-makers never seem to be in a hurry making appointments.

IRISH - I've thought about trying to access that Ft. Myers eagle cam but it's more fun to see it through your eyes! And it's only about 78 sleeps until spring! And we're gaining daylight every day. It's even noticeable here. Hang in there!

VEL - did you ever get around to sewing yesterday? Have you seen much of Lyn?

LINDA - A new year and a new project! So nice that your hubby is able to give you a second eye! Bill does that for me, too, and very often has good ideas that I usually use. Deep cleaning is so over-rated! Sometimes I think it would be easier to simply buy a new, pre-cleaned house.

CHICKIE - I can hardly stand to read your posts as they leave me feeling frozen! But I'm glad the calves, cows, dogs, birds, and DH are being so well taken care of! I hope that 'green' in your dinner last night works out for you! We had to make do with Romaine lettuce.

BECKY - sounds like you had a New Year's feast at your house! I have a turkey breast in the freezer, too. One of these days . . .

TINA - given your circumstances, I think you had a great NYE evening. Dinner, family, games, hugs. Your dad really needs that right now - and the opportunity to talk. About whatever he needs to talk about. It's cathartic. It might be hard to realize the value of simply being together, sharing a meal, and talking when you're in the thick of an emotional experience, but time will give you a different perspective and you'll look back and see what a lifesaver you have been to your dad. And to your brothers and even yourself, too!

JANA - you really have a tie to the Rose parade, don't you! Autumn used to live about a mile from the parade route. I think one year she and Aaron walked from their house up to the staging area and watched the floats as they started out.

Our chicken dinner last night was pretty good, but there's some chicken left. But not enough to make much so we might just have it sliced up over a big chef's salad. I realize it's more like hot soup or chili weather, but we have lots of big salad fixings. so unless I come up with a better idea - like homemade buffalo chicken pizza with a small side salad - then it will be chef's salad. You know who will make that decision when he wakes up.

What's the decision at your house?

Good late morning from a frozen Sw. Pa. and I guess this is what we can expect the rest of the week....Best just hunker down and put up with it...Of course, when I told the kids, those kids who know how warped my mind can be, gave me "that" look...We have a channel on Comcast that has a picture of a fireplace and a roaring fire and even has the sounds of wood burning....I swear if you watch it very long, it has warming effects...See what Mother Nature has done to me!

Mary, what you posted to Tina is so right! Thinking back, just being with family and friends and talking was wonderful..I often hoped my friends didn't get tired of me always bringing Chris into the conversation but it sure helped...I was finally able to see the house on HGTV that is in your area that will be given away....Wow, even the announcer said this is one of the nicest and best areas they've ever had....I know Chriss said she was going to win but I hope she doesn't mind if I give it a try...Just can't imagine!

Becca, we too have sun but our temps aren't quite as high as your's...But, what a difference the sun makes....As Mary said, the days are getting longer and Spring is just around the corner......

I can't say I've gotten a late start to the day because most days, even with good intentions, I'm behind...But, I am going to buckle down, get my woolies on and go visit with Jim....Need to also pick up my RX and stop at the bank, so will make it all in one trip....
I talked to Kathy last night and she is planning her trips...Will be coming this way the end of June...Last year, she got a super deal through one of the airline charge cards, so this year, she will travel on the points and her DH, Tim will fly free on all their trips, and she has quite a few trips planned....
Today is kind of a sad day, Stephan flies to Texas to start the next venture in his life in the Air Force...He was a little nervous when I talked to him but he's also anxious to get started....He will graduate from Basic the end of Feb. and he and his lady love will get married...I'm hoping I'll be able to fly down but we'll see....

As far as dinner, there are a couple of left overs in the fridge so this could be "mustgo" day....I even have a couple potatoes baking in the oven, as stand by.....

You all have a great day.......

Happy eating..................

Good morning ladies, I know you do not want to hear my temperature is here in AZ. So I will just say....we have no snow on the ground, and we do not have to worry about a wind chill. Enough said.

Happy New Year to all! We had a wonderful New Year's Eve. Stayed home this year and had fondue. It was nice. Haven't done that in while.

Dinner...hmm... Have some left overs and also some ham slices so something will fall out of frigerator. Lol.

I hope things heat up for all the cold states. I hate being cold!!!

Becca- Your dinner sounds so good. I love soup.

Mary - your salad sounds good too. I never make chefs salad. I should do that one day. Ken would be good for that.

Tina - hang in there my dear friend. I know how it hurts to loose family, but there is nothing we can do except keep the good memories in your heart. Lots of hugs coming your way. I am always here for you.

Well off to find a project to work on. Love to all

Carole ---don't forget the e.

Good morning!

My handsome assistant is dragging up the totes to pack away Christmas. He doesn't want a whole big production, just a little one, so he can do something fun the rest of the day.

I finished the binding on the ugly quilt, and Mikey likes it. It will keep him warm.

I got the casings sewn to the right size for the Red Snappers. Now to put the leaders back on. I was smart enough to mark the rods before I removed the leaders, so it will be easy. The leaders attach with velcro. Then I will load my small wall hangings. I do have a goal to get the tops I have ready, quilted.

Dinner - need a run to the store sometime today, but have chicken, rice and fixings for that to be dinner.

Mary - hope they come through quickly with those appointments.

Becca - stay warm!

Irish - Kathy is a great planner! June will be fun at your house.

Carole - I remembered the e! I haven't done fondue in a ehile either - in my younger days we host fondue parties.

Need to scoot,
Enjoy!

Good morning! I thought we were warmer this morning when I was over to take care of DS3’s dogs (Choc and Maggie) and feed the calves here. Yep! Warmer!!! SIX, count ‘em… 6 degrees!!! Sure beats the minus and the evil wind chill!

I finished my uncle’s comfort quilt yesterday and boxed it up for DH to post today when he picks up our mail. I loaded the box with books for my aunt, as she reads while she sits with my uncle. They are a sweet couple. I included two Fannie Flagg books that I know my aunt will really enjoy.

Now… I really need to straighten up my sewing room a bit and make my 2017 Christmas gifts as well as write a few letters and late Christmas cards.

Mary—that reminds me, I need to make an appointment for my well woman check up too.

When I started writing, it was morning… now it’s afternoon. We were having a heat wave, so the hooligans and I walked to Choc and Maggie’s almost 2 miles round trip. It was 15 degrees, but it felt like 50 after all the blustery, dark, minus temperature days. We had sun for awhile and relief from the wind!

Jana—the ugly quilt! Shame!!! We need to see pictures!

Carole—I haven’t had fondue in forever. That sounds like a fun evening! Your cooking sounds like mine… whatever falls out.

Irish—I’ve seen that channel and love it! Too funny!!! We don’t have it here. You’re right, the sun makes ALL the difference to me!!! My sister went through Air Force training in Texas, and DH was an AF brat and born there.

Becca—your soup sounds delicious! I want to make ham and beans one of these days. I’m dreaming for summer, too!

Did anyone see the moon last night? It was beautiful—huge and orange when it came up in the east. I was walking Choc and Maggie and had a wonderful view. When I went back at 11:00, the moon was high in the sky with a big, frozen ring around it.

Now, I need to get busy. Dinner tonight… one of the coffee guys brought in a bunch of fried chicken, so that’s what we are having. I’ll fix a baked sweet potato and a salad and call it good to go. We had white chicken chili last night with the black-eyed peas and white beans. It was really good. Even DH liked it. I thought it would be good for his cold.

Bon appétit!

Good late afternoon ladies.
We will have leftovers tonight, plenty of turkey and fixings left. I am sure a few will frown, but they can fix something on their own if they don't want it.
Back to work today, boy, I do think I would enjoy retiring! Maybe in few short years, fingers crossed.
You all have a great night, and try to stay warm!
Becky
