SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Dec 16th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Dec 16, 2017 4:12 am

Good morning!

Yesterday was a few errands and since I had 30 minutes to kill, I stopped at Goodwill and found 13 paperbacks at 77 cents each! And my sister's Christmas gift for next year - a wooden toll painted skunk with a 2-foot dowel sticking straight up in back of it to hold TP. My sis loves skunks and I think this will go great in her trailer bathroom! If not, she has two bathrooms in her house. It will fit someplace!

In the afternoon I finished all the tree blocks (from El's Seasons book) for my brother's quilt finished. One block is a red cardinal and I hand embroidered the branch it was sitting on last night while watching TV. Today - I'll be putting it all together and adding borders.

BECKY - So how many kids does your DD have that are living with you? Sounds like they keep you pretty busy! I bet that concert was bitter sweet, knowing it was the last one.

CHICKIE - Well, did you get your uncle's quilt finished? We don't have a Ben Franklin anywhere near us, but there is one in North Pole, AK that I always hit at least once when visiting my DB. It has the best fabric and I always find something I HAVE to have!

JANA - well, I guess you could say the Warm Co is inland - about 40 miles! lol! That's the factory. The offices are up near Seattle. They have another factory on the east coast, too.

TINA - I'm so proud of you to stand up for yourself! Your own family needs you right now and you have to put them first. Your parents have had more than a year to get this move done so it's SOOO not on you if it doesn't happen next weekend! With no interruptions, I'm sure you'll have those quilt tops finished by Sunday night.

BECCA - Sounds like you are almost ready for Christmas at your house! I could go for one of those snickerdoodles . . They are pretty high on my favorite cookie list.

IRISH - funny about all those packages! I guess you have some Santa work to do! lol! I like your idea of making a few table toppers and letting the staff draw for them. We had patients, sometimes, who would bring a big bouquet of carnations or roses into the hospital and invite each nurse to take one. Of course, by night shift (when I worked) there were never any left, but it was a nice thought. You won AGAIN at Bingo?? Girl, you could make a living at this if you played enough!

Supper tonight will probably still be leftover party food. I might do a salad as well.

Good afternoon from a slightly warmer (than yesterday), SW. Pa...I imagine the snow will be melting but just now looking out the window, I see white stuff flying around??????

Mary, I want to know your secret! The one for getting those quilts pieced and done so fast....I'm still in a thought process and you'll have 2 completed! And I love, love your shopping trips to the thrift stores...I told you about Terry's wife getting a table and 6 chairs for $19.98...They took it home, put it together and moved out the old table...Terry did say, there were a couple of water marks on the top but already she's taken care of those...
AND speaking of Terry, he texted and asked if I had gotten the mail...He had notice that he had a package...Now, this is 15 minutes before the PO closes, on a Sat. morning and I'm not dressed...Well, I made it and really hit paydirt...Along with his, I also had 5 new packages to pick up...I just love this shopping on line, lol...But, at least it got me dressed in a hurry, lol....

Tina, See, we all are so darn proud of you..You need this time for you and your family, so there!

Becca, I join Mary with liking the snickerdoodles but I'm with you with the ginger snaps...That is my all time favorite...My Kevin also likes them and often, for a silly birthday gift, I'd give him gingersnaps and he was in heaven....Bingo is a very big thing in Florida...I always thought that was one of the priorities to be able to live there...The only time I ever played down there was the afternoon penny bingo at the club house and you can imagine what you'd win...But, my friend did play and would win big...Just the other night, my DDIL, Cindy won close to $300. where she goes...Lucky girls....
I love potato soup and now you have me thinking I should make some....On a cold day, sounds like a winner....

Just doing the normal uglies and then maybe hit the sewing room...I feel guilty if I sit down to sew before the uglies are done, which is pretty silly, isn't it?????

You all have a great day..........

Happy eating.............

Good morning,

Me too, I have that silly white stuff falling from the skies! We are predicted to get about 6 inches today. More near the end of next week. Just in time for Christmas.

Heading to the Batt Cave. Still have a bit of sewing to finish. Then wrapping everything. I save gift boxes from year to year, but this year I need to restock my supply.

Dinner - what ever the car knows the way to or what Michael can cook. Which isn't much! LOL

Enjoy,
Jana

I don't think we will have any snow before the holiday. It is 60 here today, although it is very breezy.
Mary, we still have three at home, and my DD. Occasionally, my oldest DGS stops in for dinner. Brytt is our senior this year, Ericka is a sophomore, and Ian is 8th grade. So, won't be our last Winter concert, but we have had weepy girls for every event so far, this year...They are too funny.
We were thinking hamburgers on the grill, but I think it will be too windy for that. Maybe I will just broil them in the house, and add a dish of mac and cheese. And salad...
Have a great weekend. Becky
