SUPPER CLUB - HALLOWEEN!! BOOOOOOO!!

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Oct 31, 2017 3:13 am

Good morning!

I wasn't called for court today. They called Groups 5-15. I'm in Group 25. I have no idea how many folks are in each group. I call each evening at 5pm to see if I have to report the next day.

It's great weather here for our little T/T-ers - 60's and sunny today. Usually, we're cold, windy, and rainy for Halloween. The main street through town will be blocked off and businesses will give out candy this afternoon. So much better than going house to house, I think. We have never gotten kids here because we have a long dark driveway that winds through woods. Spooky! But it's never stopped us from buying a big bag of candy "for the little trick-or-treaters". :o]

Today someone around here just HAS to do some uglies!! Scottie! He makes half the mess with all his toys and hair everywhere. Scottie has uglies to do!! And I guess I'll do the rest.

LINDA - you must be so frustrated with your sunroom project! and then your car. But what's the third thing? And you are so right - everything seems to come in threes! Congrats on finishing your JB quilt!

IRISH - you were in my thoughts all day yesterday. My Autumn, (the youngest) was only 8 yrs old when we lost her Daddy. She was always trying to comfort everyone in our family. She would tell us, "we may have only had Daddy for a short time, but we had the best daddy, and not everyone can say that." Surprisingly, it did bring some degree of comfort. Hugs to you! But really - BBQ?? I can only take "Preheat". ;o) OH, and by the way, when I was a kid, a new bank opened here in town and they really DID give out free samples! Everybody got a penny!

BECCA - When do you think you'll be able to see the twins? So cute!!! Brrr... You are cold! and snow?? Seems you were just out walking in 80*! Cocoa sounds like a good idea!

TINA, CHICKIE, JANA - dinner bell is clanging!! Come and get it!

I know I promised you I was making stew. But I have all these fresh mushrooms I bought for the appetizer I was to take to friends last Sat. So I'm thinking I might make stroganoff (which I load up with mushrooms) instead and put the stew off another day or two.

What'ss loading your plate tonight?

Boo! To you all!!! I spent yesterday making treats for the one or two treaters I may or may not have. You can bet, they won’t go uneaten. Last evening Ava came with her parents to show off her costume that her mommy had made. She was so cute as Bark Ranger in her little brown shirt with her name on it and her ranger hat. Odie was totally enamored, and they spent the evening kissing on each other. Silly dogs; they were so cute.

We are only going for a high of 46 today, chances of rain, and really grungy Halloween weather. Mary, you do treats like I do. The individual holiday bags will be portion control for DH watching TV the rest of the week. I also got some fun-size candy bars.

I can’t remember when I was here last—time flies!!! It’s the end of October, and I’m so behind with everything. There’s been drama with my ex-DIL, and Tinker Bell got hit by a pick up truck. She’s cripping around (we both are), but I think she will be o.k. Hope it slows her down from running out in front of every vehicle she sees.

Becca—those twins are all so sweet! I can’t believe how big the new ones are! They are just beautiful!

Irish—Hugs to you! When I worked at a bank, we gave out those “free samples” too. They were a penny glued to a business card for the bank.

Mary—your mushroom stroganoff sounds delicious! I like mushrooms in everything and anything. Usually I sauté mushrooms and eat them while DH has the beef that was to go with them. I also like big portabellas as a “hamburger” or a steak—forget the meat!

Dinner here… Chicken fried steak for DH, and I’ll have a re-run on my zucchini boats. Speaking of mushrooms, they are loaded with them, too. I picked all my volunteer cherry tomatoes before the freeze, and they are ripening nicely. I’ll have tomato salad over my zucchinis. I need to make some more fresh salsa with them, too, as I have peppers from DS3’s garden to add some heat.

Mom’s birthday is Saturday, and my sister is hosting a come and go. I’m going to make 2 angel food cakes and some cookies. The hunters are also coming in Friday night and will stay 10 days. I don’t know what all I’ll be having to do for them. I’m hoping I can avoid making breakfast every day they are here.

My sewing room has been abandoned for days and days. I’m hoping to find it again this afternoon.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Mary - heard the bell - on my way - live stronganoff, especially with tons of mushrooms. DH detests mushrooms, so I leave them out as I cook, and add them to my serving.

Chickie - ouch! Hope Tinker Bell is alright. Happy Birthday to your sweet mom! She is a jewel!

Velda - the quilt show will be fun! Be safe as I am sure there are still problems in the area with roads and such.

Dinner - banned chowder.

I will be sitting outside on the porch with a fleece blanket draped over my chair to kerp the breeze from going under and my big cudfly warm fleece over me! We are to be about 40 degrees as the kids come around.

Ethan is a Star Wars storm trooper. We found his costume months ago at Costco and were glad I did'nt have to make it this year. My other grands will come out later and collect their goodies from grandma.

Well, laundry is done, and JN is calling, I got two more bags done yesterday and will start more today.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon :) I'm finally making it here.
It's a beautiful day here, I think we're going to hit 80. I don't usually have trick or treaters but I always buy a little bit of candy just in case. ... it won't go to waste either.
Ha I forgot what I was going to say. ......
I'm not sure what's for supper, we're going with the kids to the church for their actual Halloween party.
Gotta go
Tina
