SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 8th
Good morning!
We are cooler this morning! Hooray!! And we might even get a bit of rain! A few drops fell yesterday evening. 3 months without rain and suddenly, unpredicted, it started to fall as several of us were at friends, sitting outside around their koi pond! lol! It was voted to move inside, but I, for one, was happy to feel those raindrops!
Got the house cleaned yesterday, finished my Old St. Nick quilt top, and worked on my 30's swap blocks. It was a good day! Today is a quick Costco run, a flu shot, and not sure what else until friends stop by tonite for campfire and finger food supper.
Watching coverage of Irma. My DDIL's parents live in FL in a single-wide mobile home. They are in PA at the moment at a family reunion, so they are physically safe but I hope they have a home to come home to! The MIL is terminal and this is an end of life reunion to see all the family one more time. So they have enough going on in their life.
And now Mexico has had a big earthquake. It's like the world is trying to self-destruct.
CHICKIE - you had quite a day yesterday, even without working at the rental! Glad you found some boots you like. You deserve anything your heart desires right now! I've seen tennies with a bit of a heel. In fact, I've seen tennies with a high heel, too! I didn't hurt my back moving the couch! Those little slidey thingies really make it quick and easy. and almost fun!
TINA - Your parents will come to it eventually. In fact, your dad may be more willing that you think, but is afraid to face Mom if he allows you more rein. Your day sounded busy, too! It took me four solid hours to clean our house and the last couple of hours, I found my sidekick, sacked out on the couch under a blanket. So hard to get good help these days.
BECCA - hope your family can get out on a flight. Are they coming for a visit? My neighbor, Lori, that I walk with every morning said that her Step-mom, who lives full-time in her RV and travels around the country, bought a new RV in Florida and is supposed to have flown there yesterday or today to pick it up. I'm anxious to hear how that is going. Are you prepared for the storm, should you get trapped at home for several days?
LINDA - your quilt is AWESOME!! I love it! Love the colors - they are MY colors!
TINA - your parents are going to make your lives miserable even from the grave with their attitude! so sorry they are being so difficult. and you are right - if they refuse to allow it, there is nothing you can do. but one day, they will change their minds. I just fear the event that will make that happen.
JANA - are you already for school? lol! Sounds like you even have your 'backpack'! I'm excited for you to start this JN project. I know you've told us but I've forgotten which pattern it is that you are making. Cindy has had a half-finished JN on her design wall for as long as I've known her and she said, 2 years before that. In purple. I keep forgetting her pattern, too.
IRISH - Have you been back to Pet Smart? Is the little tuxedo still there?? You should get him for me, I'll have my son swing by and pick him up and bring him home! I'm sure they won't mind traveling 3,000 miles in their new car with a new kitty and litter box. >^+^<
supper tonite will be a tray of croissant sandwiches from Costco along with a veggie tray, grapes, and a cookie tray. Yes, I'm being lazy today! I'm not sure what others might bring but even this will be enough to feed us all, I think.
I hope you have a tasty dinner, too!

Good morning!
Mary - it is the Fire Island Hosta - queen size. It is great to use prepared finger food, leaves you time to visit.
We are scanning the area near the house from the back deck - a ton of fire engines just torn through town. So we are watching for what is going on. Earlier this week, up near Ogden, a wildfire broke out and destroyed several homes in a matter of minutes. We are safe, so far.
I put a tip on water during a emergency over in the sew ins. Good thing to have in a RV, you never know when a emergency will happen.
The tote is almost finished, just needs the lining and handles. It is needed for tomorrow to haul all my class supplies. Nothing like the last minute! LOL But I come by it naturalky. My mom would be hemming my prom dresses as I was walking out the door! I did Sarah's dresses that way too! Sarah doesn't do it, she just has me still doing the last minute prep for her!
Dinner - there is so much here to choose from, we will see. Two things that will be on the menu is fresh corn and tomatoes.
Enjoy! Be safe!

Hello everyone,Sunny & 74 after 46 this morning.Rain is due in next wk.Results of Irma.
Maryz Sure hope your DDILs mother has a home to go back to.Enjoy your party.Sounds like a good way to not get stressed out over food prep.
We are prepared. We could live a few months on what we have except DHs Med.After a month or so he would be in need.Power outage here is biggest concern but we have a generator. And extra gas.
Yes DS & DGS are coming for a wk to visit.Plus DGS took a wk off to be with them.So hope it all works out.
Jana Sure hope the fire gets put out. Those wildfires are horrible.Enjoy your class.know the quilt will be beautiful.
Tina Guess your hands are tied.I too think Dad would cooperate if Mom would agree.Too bad for everyone involved.Praying it all works out for you.You don't need another headache.Hugs to you.
Linda WOW your quilt is a show stopper.Just reading all you did made me want a break.See why you needed one .Its gorgeous.Love Those colors too.
Irish Hope alls well in your neighborhood. And Jim is doing good.As well as he can.
Chickie Hope you can find some shoes with a slight heel.
Just saw where another storm is behind Irma at a category 4. Wow hope it goes out in Ocean.Store shelves are getting emptied fast.People go overboard.
DH wants to cut back on his eating. He gets like this if he gains which he never does.
So he wants a sandwich.I am adding black eyed peas & salad.Hamburger meat some how for me.Still watching intake of protein. Becca He has goodies from Bakery.lol

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 8th
Good early afternoon from s chilly (to me), dreary, stay in the house kind of day, SW. Pa....Yesterday wasn't too bad and then rain last night and Irma hasn't even made it up here yet....
Mary, I love to hear about your party/get togethers and what you're eating...I haven't made it back to my volunteering at PetSmart yet but sorry, I think little Michael has been adopted...I did have a message saying they were pulling all the cats/kittens from our PetSmart because some of them were coming down with colds...So the gals were doing a heavy duty cleaning before taking them back....We are having a spay/neuter clinic coming up and I'll be helping with that...Going to try to get "outside" Jake taken care of, also....
Did you remember where in Pa. your son is visiting?...How I would love to meet up with them and deliver that kitten...The gal in charge of our group got called out during the night and rescued 6 kittens and is trying to trap the momma...I'll have to check to see if there are any tuxedos...Hey, that would give me a great excuse to fly west...When will you be back home, lol......
Jana, hate to hear you say those fires are so close...Will pray extra hard for your area as well as all those in the path of fires and Irma...I had to laugh about your Mom hemming your prom dress but I think we've all done that...Mine was mostly the Halloween costumes..But, then I do remember a certain dress I HAD TO MAKE for one of Jim's dinners and ran out in the morning, got some green velvet and wore the thing that night...Always did say, I worked better under pressure, lol...
Becca, Just hope and pray this storm slows down before it reaches you but glad to hear you are prepared...Other than rain, we should be fine where I live...But, knowing how people can get up here, the shelves will be empty at the store...Not to take it lightly, but even if we're to get an inch of snow, people rush out for that potty paper, lol....But, just stay safe my friend....
Yesterday was my squishing and bone density test and I think I passed with flying colors, at least I hope I did...After that I was only going to look and ended up buying a china cupboard for the dining room...Never had one but now what do I do with this entertainment center? All morning I've saved a few of our favorite records and still have a turntable so all morning I've been listening to music and wondering where I'm going to put it...For someone who is thinking and trying to downsize, I think I just blew it!
Terry stopped down after work to show me his wedding pictures and tell me all about their wedding...It was just the 2 of them and absolutely purrrfect...He said, there were people on the beach who clapped when it was over...They are planning a small family get together in October, complete with a cake...
And maybe to add to the "excitement", his ex just moved back to this area..We're not sure why, other than to cause trouble....Never a dull moment......
Today, is a stay at home day and hopefully try to get something accomplished...My main goal is to visit with the sewing machine...
As for dinner, I threw some potatoes in the oven to bake and not sure what else to go with...Might even bake some cookies to take to Jim when I visit tomorrow..They told me, Jim has become quite a helper...If he sees the laundry lady carrying a bag, he has to help her, if he sees them clearing the table after a meal, he wants to help...I told them, this is the way he is and they think it's great....
You all have a great day....Please stay safe....
Happy eating..............
