SUPPER CLUB - - Thursday, Aug 17th
Good morning!
Going to be another busy day here. Uglies, wood, sewing. Plus, if they'd like us to go along, Bill wants to accompany his brother to a doctor appointment today. I doubt they want us there, but Bill wants to offer. Plus, Scottie has a groom appointment at 9am and will need to be picked up about noon and we have an invitation to friends for burgers at 5pm. Not sure how we're going to fit this all in as the brother is 30 miles away.
CHICKIE - those boxes Doyal are making will be precious! Neat that he is making up those cards telling what it is. Will you calligraphy them foor him? Haha about Scottie, Duchess, and Tinkerbell. Scottie's approach is 'what happens in Kansas stays in Kansas', so next time he visits, watch out, Tink!! lol!
TINA - I hope the mosquitos don't carry you away! They really got to my mom, too. I think it's because you and she are/were so sweet! Avon's Skin So Soft seems to repel them and smells so much better (to humans!) than bug spray. Also, some folks swear by Bounce - you load your pockets up with dryer sheets! and wipe them on your exposed skin. I haven't tried that. I spent the afternoon wrapping Christmas gifts two days ago. and birthday. They are to go to CO and we're seeing my CO sister in UTAH in September and we'll trade boxes of gifts. My kids and grands get $ and a special ornament. So not much wrapping there!
BECCA - sure hope you hear from your doctor today. Just keep calling. Keeping you waiting like this is inexcusable in my opinion. Berries are everywhere in WA this year! But I am so over them! If I pick any more, I'll need to buy a new freezer! and that just ain't happening.
JANA - how is the tooth? and did you get Stu off to college?
IRISH - did you have a nice birthday? Did you see your kids? spend time with Jim? We were thinking of you!
LINDA - How did your quilt group go? And is everything gone now from the office?
Tonite we've been invited to friends on Fox Island for grilled burgers so no cooking here! And they even told us not to bring anything but a bottle of wine. That we can do. ;o) I can only wish as easy a supper for all of you!

Good morning!
We will be off and running shortly. Our lawn sweeper, that tows behind the tractor is finally in and we need to pick it up.
We take Stu Saturday to college. He is attending Snow College on the Ephraim campus. About 2 hours from here. So after we drop him off, we will wander around and gather a few Row by Rows there and on the route home. There is a Ward party that night, and we may make it back in time. Mexican food, love it!
We had fun just going out to dinner last night to celebrate. Seems like it was just the other day we got married, not 42 years! That's a long time! LOL!
Sarah will be leaving on Saturday too. I have her well trained, on their drive up to I.F., she will stop and gather RBR's for me.
Mary - Utah next month?
Time to feed Michael,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! I’ve been working on the floors… We had drizzle several times yesterday and a couple of inches of rain last night. The floors will suffer!
Mary—you are going to have a busy day! It’s good Bill is going to be with his brother today—if they accept. Yes, I will either calligraphy the card or do it on the bottom of the boxes with a chisel point Sharpie. I’ll need to get some when I go to Joplin to the dentist. Ha, ha—that’s how Tinker Bell feels, too…
I’ve tried everything with mosquitoes and ticks and deer flies, other flies and sweat bees… I guess anything is better than nothing, but it’s still a battle. At least Bounce doesn’t damage clothes like oils and insect sprays. It’s a jungle out there!!!
The package is in the mail to my cousin and should arrive tomorrow. I texted with him last night and saw more pics of little Mimi. She’s a sweetie!
Becca—I’m hoping no news from the doctor’s office is good news. One time after waiting on pins and needles for results, I finally got a human to tell me: “we don’t call if it’s o.k.” I was livid!!! I think that’s totally inconsiderate when people have major concerns. That is a good idea to go to the office and sit and wait—take a book or handwork!!! Maybe if you take a plate of cookies as a bribe… DH’s late wife took her signature cinnamon rolls, and everyone fawned over her… My sister (worked there) told me I’d never make cinnamon rolls as good as hers—office thought they were manna. Bribery may work!
Jana—sounds like you have a fun weekend planned! You do have Sarah trained!
The entire family, sans us, are going canoeing in Oklahoma this weekend—leaving this afternoon. I’ll be on dog duty 24-7 for Choc and Maggie. I’m also on Mom duty through Tuesday while my sis and DBIL are chasing the eclipse.
Since it rained, DH wants to go clean the rental. I sent an eviction letter, so hope she left and we don’t have to hire a lawyer to get the sheriff involved. If a tenant is savy, they can pretty much call all the shots and the landlord is the sucker. We had a squatter—not on the lease. She had been a guest of the tenant and wouldn’t leave, so the tenant broke her lease and left the squatter there. We had an officer go with us and stay in the background when we went to ask the squatter to leave. All was going well until another officer came on the scene and started telling the squatter she didn’t have to leave, she was getting her mail there and was a resident. He said we’d have to get a lawyer, etc…. So, the squatter decided to stay for 60 more days… DH had to practically pull me off the officer and put his hand over my mouth! I was furious!!! Apparently, you can change your address to anywhere you want and start getting your mail and become a legal resident of anywhere you want. How totally crazy is that!!! This officer was really throwing his weight around and said he had been to a tenant law seminar the day before and he was an expert… Oh, boy! That really set me off!!! Have I mentioned that I really HATE rentals!!!
At least, if we are going to town, I can go visit Mom for awhile. When she gets ready for her nap, I can walk to the rental and work. It’s about 8 blocks or so from her house. Maybe I can avoid the really nasty stuff…
Tonight… I’m going to make some stuffed peppers and put them in the crock pot. Guess I should go get busy… I have corn on the cob and watermelon to go with them.
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - - Thursday, Aug 17th
Good morning from warm, sunny, purrrrfectly gorgeous, SW. Pa...It is another super day, here in the east....
I was just sitting here at the computer having the best laugh....The neighbor who lives right across from our extended yard/lot has himself a girlfriend...Now, this fellow has to be in his early 70s and is widowed and I think it's great that he found someone...But, it's funny to see how he tries to get her out of the house without anyone seeing...When I sit at the computer, my window looks directly over to his car and they just made a run for it...I'm pretty sure she lives down the street and could probably walk home but he drives her...He is the nicest guy, always ready to help out and even helps cut the lot when he has his mower out...His wife has been gone for a few years after a long bout with cancer and this guy deserves to have some happiness...It's kind of funny, when you see young people living together and thinking nothing of it but it's the older ones who don't want to flaunt it....But, I do get a chuckle out of it....
Oh Mary, you've made me tired just looking at your schedule for the day....And by now, you're probably half way through that list....I feel so bad for Bill and his DB, just terrible....And I can understand him wanting to be with him....So now you're telling us, Scottie is quite the Casanova?????Just looking at him, I can see why all the lady doggies would swoon.....I'm kind of anxious to take care of my kitties today and see if the little tuxedo is still there...Maybe it's a good thing I'm going away....I can feel that "stong" beginning to slip.....Enjoy your dinner out, again!
Also, thank you for the text last night...I wanted to write more but my phone decided to do another language so I just gave up...I'm sure it wasn't the user, lol.....
Becca, I'm with your DH, why should you have to sit and wait and have your BP go up....Just not right! I imagine you're excited about having your DD come for a visit....I know I can't wait to see mine....Hope your DH has a good day and a safe mowing day....Take care, dear friend, thank you for the good thoughts....
Jana, Happy belated anniversary...Boy, you picked a good day, lol...You know, you can always tell if the couple is happy when you hear one of them say, it seems like yesterday or just the other day...Like they say, time flies..........Many, many more happy years to you and Michael.....
I do want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and good thoughts....I did have a good birthday and you know, being 80 doesn't feel any different than I did just the other day, lol....I heard from all the kids, had the neighbors "rubbing it in" and bringing goodies and just had a good day..I'm off to visit with Jim this afternoon and then to PetSmart to take care of the fur kids.....
Have to tell you a funny about Jim...The other day, I was showing him to his seat for dinner and he put his arm around me and told the 2 ladies at the table that I always want to smooch!...The ladies had a good laugh at that one and I kind of enjoyed it myself, lol....
But, I also have some good news....Remember me saying, we haven't had a baby in the family for a long time... Kevin and Cindy are adopting an English Bull Dog puppy and hopefully will be picking her up this weekend.... They had to say good by to their last one and Kevin is having a hard time...SO, I'll be getting a new Grand Puppy, so far in named...This might not be a baby baby but hopefully, I'll get to snuggle it any how......
As for my dinner, might be a burger and also have a zucchini so for sure, there will be sautéed zucchini.....AND also have a few Snowballs left for my after.....Looking good!
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - - Thursday, Aug 17th
Good afternoon:) I didn't make morning. I've done 4 loads of laundry, cleaned my kitchen twice and been working on getting a comfort quilt out. It should be ready to go out in tomorrow's mail. When Frankie gets home tonight we're gonna stay tackling the yards. I know it'll hurt but he just can't do it by himself. And I'd really like to be able to go outside so I need to trim up everything and see if we can get rid of the mosquitos.
Mom waited 2 hours yesterday for a Dr and finally told them at the front desk that it was ridiculous so they left. And then Dad called me a little bit ago, Mom fell out of bed and is black and blue all over and hurting. He's gonna take her to get xrays. The home health care checked her out and they don't think anything is broken but it told him just to be sure she should go to her GP and get xrays and checked. So they're not coming this weekend. I think we'll try to go there, then go see Matthew and mommy and daddy there all on Saturday. Well my washer is calling and it's time for lunch here. Sorry I gotta run. Oh supper will be a little steak on the grill, zucchini and salad.
